Mildly sweet, malt nose. Light, spicy, orange hops; hops aroma is subtle at first; more evident as the beer warms. The sweet malty and grainy aroma envelops the more subtle hops at times.

Orange zest and medium, resiny bitterness emerge on the palate. The carbonation is soft, and the clear, honey-copper brew maintains a thin, foamy head nearly ten minutes after being poured. The soft carbonation, wisely calibrated hops, and clean, medium-light (particularly for an 8+% beer) malt body make for an easy drinking beverage with some classic Lagunitas flavor.

It also continues Lagunitas' tradition of being able to finesse rather voluptuous beers into very slim-fitting attire. I suppose, given the label, such an analogy is appropriate. As the beer gets fully warm, its bosoms begin to spill out a little. But the Blonde cannot be faulted for that.

A: This beer pours a dark golden body with an orange tint to it, with a thick white head that quickly fades. As the beer fades, the head leaves a lot of lace on the glass. Looks more like an IPA to me than a Strong Ale.

S: There is a strong sweetness that hits my nose. To me it smells like a nice IPA wort before the boil. I also get a tiny bit of hops, but nothing that crazy.

T: This is a very delicious beer. The sweetness tastes very similar to a Barleywine to me and then the hops start to come through as the beer lingers.

M: The mouthfeel of this beer is awesome. It goes down so smooth and the carbonation adds to the beer. There is a tiny bit of crispness on the back of the throat and tongue. All around an amazing feeling beer.

O: THis is just a great beer. I have bought this probably 20 times and it never gets old. I just wish this beer was year round.

A- Pours a golden honey hue with a fluffy brilliant white head into my DFH glass. The head fades fairly quickly but leaves a decent bit of lacing dripping from the sides. Decent carbonation... but it could just be the glass.

S- Pineapple, mango, caramel, pine sap, grapefruit, over-ripe peach, wet grass and orange peel. WOW! This is really deep and fantastic! I could breathe this in all day! Reminds me a little of Bootleggers Knucklesandwich. I love how much the tropical fruit notes shine over the sour citrus.

T- Wonderful bursts of bitter citrus, tropical sweet citrus, caramel, day old cut wheat field... damn!!! Mango, pineapple wrapped in brulee! No alcohol taste at all! Little touches of butterscotch, black pepper, basil and Good & Plenty candy (sweet licorice).

M- A great blend of tongue stripping citrus and sweet candy caramel! Nice grassy tones, kinda slick on the tongue.

O- I can't believe it took me song long to pick this up for $4.99! I'm an idiot! Lagunitas is oneof those brewery's that I often overlook for no good reason. Almost everything they do is damn good! Gonna grab a few more of these before they dissapear!

O-a decent strong ale, but needs a little more balance for me

A - Copper body with lively carbonation. Bone white head pours a finger high.

S - Unique nose. Light, sweet breadiness and water chestnuts.

T - Robust herbal hops open for a nice, soft malt center. Quick, fruity finish.

M - Smooth, medium/full to style.

O - A great brew with nice drinkability at 8.9%

A- Pours a bright orange-gold color. About a 2 finger head that retains well and laces ok.

S- Low levels of pine and citrus hops scents. Underlying sweetness mixes in. Alcohol spiciness is fairly prominent.

T- Hints of malts up front immediately followed by a mild hop profile. Hops are dry and linger a bit. Alcohol bitterness ends the drink.

M- Thick and creamy. Moderate carbonation levels. Alcohol is heavy towards the end of the drink.

Overall, not as good as I remember when I had it on sample. Still a solid beer that I don't believe benefits from the high alcohol content.

The colour is gold-pale amber (15 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two figner head slowly sinks down leaving some lacing.

The smell is smooth. Malty flavours of French loaf and a touch of honey. Do I notice a hint of vanilla? Toffee and some earthy notes. Citric flavours of bitter oranges and orange marmalade. The bitterness is in the level of an APA and balanced. Still it is somewhat sharp, maybe the alcohol gives that sharpness?

The taste is at first velvety sweet with notes of toffee. Then, elegant bitter hops kicks in with notes of tangerines and bitter oranges. Then, the taste becomes luxuriously balanced with ripe red fruits, cookie-like sweetness and hints of green fruits. The aftertaste is elegant and lush with silk-smooth sweetness, hints of balancing bitterness and exotic fruits. The finish is, again, smooth.

The carbonation is mild, the mid-sized bubbles are just there to keep the beer from being flat. The liquid is sticky and somewhat thick.

A very luxurious beer, and at the time dangerously drinkable. Well done.

Will pour a five+ finger cream head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Crystal clear copper/amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Citrus hop nose and flavor is citrus hops and caramel, very similar to a double IPA. $5.79 for a 22oz bottle from Beverage Warehouse Winooski, VT.

22oz bottle
Served in a perfect pint glass

A - It is amber colored with 3 fingers of off white head.

S - The first thing I smelled was light citrus, mostly grapefruit. I also got some biscuity malt.

T - I get light grapefruit with a pine finish. Some bready malt comes through in the middle.

M - Medium

O - It seems like the more I drink the hops fade and the biscuit comes through. It's like an imperial pale ale.

Poured a bright amber color with a huge, caramel head. Left a good layer of lacing along the glass and held a nice later of foam throughout.

Nose was full of orange peel, honey and a hint of spice.

Taste has a nice mellow hoppiness which is well balanced by the smooth malts that you taste when it first enters your mouth. I also noticed some grassy notes and citrus also.

Mouthfeel was very smooth; not too much carbonation. The bitterness from the hops lingers long after you drink.

Overall pretty good. I liked most the taste. full of flavor and the sweet malts were definitely offset by the bitter hope. Not my favorite Lagunitas brew, but definitely one to enjoy as a treat once in awhile. Can't see myself drinking more than 22 oz.'s of it, though

Poured from bottle into ommegang glass. Pours a slight amber brown copper color with a slight amount of head. Lots of lacing.
Smells of crazy citrus and fruit hops and caramel malts. Taste is fruity citrus and mango hops with slight malty sweetness. Its not as complex as I hoped but still tasty. Although I'd compare it more towards a malty DIPA.

Delicious! The first time I tried this beer I really liked it. I have had it several times now and each time I try it I think, "yeah", its still that good. Perfectly balanced! Thick and creamy, somewhat sweet malt is balanced by the 60 IBU hop fest.

On-tap 8/4/2012 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a light golden brown color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains piney hops, caramelized malts and citrus.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a strong but not over-powering hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty and creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, well-disguised strong kick, good representation of style, this is a very good beer with a lot of flavor and substance worth drinking for a long time.

Decided to finally give this one a go. In true Lagunitas fashion, there is hardly any indication of what's inside the bottle on the label, aside from the alcohol content...

Pours a nice, clear honey gold with tons of beading, capped with an inch of white cappuccino froth. Great lacing.

Tons of mango and citrus on the nose. It dominates the nostrils and I am very much okay with that. Syrupy sweet fruit, and a touch of caramel. Damn.

A brings a lot of the same flavors to the table again in the taste... tons of tropical fruit. The alcohol burn is a bit excessive especially given the ABV though. Otherwise very enjoyable.

The booze does a disservice to the drinkability. The consistency is nice and velvety though.

Great beer. I'd recommend this to any IPA drinker looking for something big.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours what looks to be almost clear light copper color with 3 fingers of thick frothy head that lingers quite awhile before receding to a cap on top.

S- Huge notes of fresh pine needles and fruit. Really fresh ripe pineapple, and oranges dominate the fruits on top of a strong sweet caramel malt base.

T- A hop lovers dream. The hops in this one shine through. They pack a pungent punch of tropical fruits, and pine resin. This one follows nose well, because right under the hop punch is a nice sweet biscuity malty base.

M- Feels very "Imperial", thick, creamy, and mouth coating. It has a moderate amount of carbonation.

O- Who doesn't like a Lagunitas Bomber for 3.50? They make great beers for a very affordable price, that are easy to get. Happy Birthday Lagunitas, keep the good ones coming.

A: Pretty glowing warm orange color with a finger high head comprised of tight orange tinted bubbles. Spotty bits of lace.

S: Big fruit, pine, and herbal notes in the aroma. Really brightly stinky. Mouth watering fruit, reminiscent of some kind of peach and berry pie filling, mid-cooking, with fermented cranberries and candied blood orange. Tea-like and herbal aromas are floating around...basil comes to mind.

T: This beer is loaded. Blasts of fruit (as in the aroma but somehow bigger), embedded in tasty bread malty goodness. Brisk bitter hops are sprinkled throughout and certainly stir things up.

M: Syrupy, thick bodied, sticky-gooey texture. A little over the top I think but not unpleasant. This feels like a big beer for sure.

O: Good beer indeed.

Brilliant brass under thick cream that leaves spotty bits of lace on the glass. Heavy, deep hop aroma...dank, herbal, pine sap, sugary grapefruit, juicy orange, pineapple, and overripe fruit along with a fairly hefty sticky caramel and honey base. Thick hoppiness continues into the flavor, though things seem a little "greener". Sticky, sweet fruity hops with an almost toasty malt presence. Dark citrus and bread. Medium-plus body with a textured mouthfeel and ending pretty bitter.

Not my favorite Lagunitas brew overall, but it fits into their portfolio quite well. A good hoppy strong ale (their M.O.), though personally it's a little too sticky to want more than one.

A-Pours a glowing marmalade color. Head has orange highlights too. Head is thinner but very concentrated. Sticky, sappy lacing.

S-From the bottle I get a ton of caramel malt and candied grapefruits. When poured, there is plenty of tropical fruit and resiny pine. A bit of booze and also some deluxe malt.

T-Whew. Big, sticky pineapple juice and a ton of grapefruit. Juiciness is matched with big resinous pine. Malt is thick caramel. Finishes very dry and bitter and hempy. Tropical fruits are great. All of the flavors are rich and sturdy.

M-Very resinous and dry. Bitterness lasts forever. Sappy pine. Booze cuts like a dull blade.

O/D-I assumed this was an Altbier because of the name. Turns out this was a beastly hop-laden ale. I really loved it. Not the best Lagunitas, but definitely in the upper tier of their brews. Big, brash, bold and beautiful. Oh, and bitter.

a beautiful clean amber pour with 2 fingers of head which quickly dissipated though left behind great amounts of lacing. nice retention, as well. smells very malt heavy.. mainly caramel, molasses, slight floral hops. the taste is kind of bready up front, with a nice malty sweetness.. nothing too special really, but definitely tasty. just a boozed up amber ale really. medium body, nice carbonation, creamy on the lips.

a great beer for the value but i believe there's so much going on here in complexity that it all ends up blending together and you don't even realize it.

A nice twist on their already excellent Lucky 13. Pours a honey color with superior lacing. It's got a noticeably citric taste with a nice hop bite. The alcohol starts sneaking into the picture after a few ounces, but not in a way that makes it hard to handle. Never theless, it is strong and I found myself perfectly drunk downtown on a hot summer's day thanks to a bomber of this. An odd afternoon to be sure, but mostly another great beer from Lagunitas.

22oz. bomber served in a snifter.

A: Very clear honey yellow with noticeable carbonation. Very spectacular lacing.

S: Tropical fruit candy and sweet malts. Smells amazing.

T: Very citrus forward with lots of hop juiciness, but with just enough malt to balance it all together very nicely. I'm not getting the "Imperial Blonde" taste at all, but that's okay because this is still awesome.

M: Medium carbonation with a long, tingly and fruity finish.

O: Another home run for Lagunitas in my books. I hate buying bombers, but Lagunitas makes them super affordable, and this one is definitely worth the $4.99 I paid for it.

Pours a rich copper body beneath the foamy light tan head that gives way to a scattered sticky lacing.

Aromas of friuity citrus hops float from the glass with a light toasted malt to compliment. As it warms the spicy wood hops appear as well.

Quite a diverse hop character highlights the flavor, part citrus fruit and part warm spices. The fruit notes seem to be a cross of pineapple,, grapefruit and apricot. It really sweetens up as it warms.

Medium to full in body with generous carbonation and a warn, drying finish.

I like the Lagunitas description of an extra pale ale moreso than American strong, but this is a tasty beer regardless.

22oz bottle, pours pale amber/copper with a fluffy off-white head that holds good retention and leaves excellent chunky lacing down the glass. Aromas are fruity, grapefruit rind, floral hops, caramely malt, toasted grain. Tastes are juicy grapefruit, pineapple, mango, tropical, biscuity, finishes slightly bitter. Mouth-feel is medium bodied, smooth, ample carbonation. Overall, I was disappointed to see they changed Lucky 13 from a red to a blonde, but this beer is exceptional either way! Excellent balance, excellent complexity, fresh and vibrant.

Appearance- Pours an amber colour with 2 fingers width of bubbly white head.

Smell- Piney hops, citrus, tropical fruits, caramel, malts

Taste- Pretty much get everything from the aroma. This brew is nicely balanced between hops and malts. Finishes dry with slight lingering bitterness. Quite well done.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with light carbonation. A pleasant smoothness.

Overall- Happy 13th anniversary Lagunitas. These guys never disappoint. A brew that is well executed and balanced. Defnitely worth trying and getting a bottle of.
