Poured into an oversized pint glass.

Pours a lively hazy light copper/auburn color. Has a creamy thick fluffy finger width off white head. Nice layer of lace masks the top of the brew, great lace all throughout the edges and rims. Great looks.

Brew smells of lots of hops; citrus, other fruits, grassy, spicy oily hop resin. Has some nice earthy bread malts in the back as well. Good smelling brew.

Brew is creamy smooth from the constant head retention. Smooth up front creamy and some prickly spiced hops and carbonation in the middle. Brew finishes slightly dry and leaves you yearning another sip. Really good mouthfeel here; thick and lots of character. Brew has great flavor profiles that all work very well together. Very nice citrus hops, spices, oily resin, grassy earth. Nice malts as well; bready yeasts and caramel malts maybe. Almost a bit of tobacco in the end. Whatever the mash up in here is it works really well. Cant even taste that alcohol. Wow stellar stuff here.

Love this stuff here. A tremendous effort from Lagunitas; awesome flavors and full chewy mouthfeel. Another winner from this world class brewery.

two finger thick off white head which leaves nice lacing, on top of a cloudy golden with crimson hues body. musty slight noble hops like aroma with mild citrus note. Flavor is very much like an IPA with a musty malt and hop flavor on the front end and nice pine finish. subtle grapefruit note inbetween. Moderate carbonation and medium body. Becomes more drinkable as you go and more like an IPA. Overall a good beer that I would have again.

22 oz. bottle into 9 oz sample glass. Pours dark amber color with a decent size head that does not dissipate quickly. Malty smell with hints of citrus and hops. The beer does taste a bit "heavy" (like alcoholwise) but this should not be unexpected with a ABV of 8.9%. The taste of the alcohol is a little overwhelming at first, but the tastes of citrus and hops do come out later. The beer, while a little bit of a slow start, goes down very smooth once you get past the alcohol feel, and a good beer for those hoplovers out there.

Poured into a pint glass from the bomber.

A: The beer is an almost pure orange color with some gold when held to light. Plenty of carbonation rising up in the middle. Head was about 2 fingers, offwhite, and stuck around for about a minute.

S: Surprisingly malty with plenty of bread in there. Also a big sweetness of citrus and/or some berries. Hoppy twinge throughout.

T: At first, I thought to myself, this would be a somewhat weak IPA... then the balance and subtleties start coming out. The malt profile is perfect and there is a nice sweetness throughout. Bread, fruit, some pine in the back. An almost perfectly balanced beer.

F: Nice carbonation, goes down pretty smooth. Some slight stickiness in there.

Overall: This is 8.9%? What?! I feel like I'm drinking a session here with the balanced character, but there is just enough bite to keep me wanting more and focused on the flavors which seem to keep changing. A very nice and very surprising beer.

Whipped egg white head that rims like crazy over orange blonde body. That candied pineapple Lagunitas nose I love with a touch of tangerine.
Cookie sweetness with apricot tangerine jam then clementine and pineapple hops. Grainy sweetness as it warms, like zweibeck biscuits.
Zesty finish and slightly oily linger. Light-medium, crisp, soft, some chew.

Is this an alt? Blonde? Strong ale? Related to Lucky 13? Who cares, it’s another Lagunitas aroma hop bomb and that’s enough for me.

22oz Bomber

Appearance - Clear dark amber colour with a large size fizzy off-white coloured head. There is low amount of carbonation and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, caramel/toffee, hops, grapefruit

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and most of the taste is made up of caramel, hops, and malts. There is also some grapefruit and apricot and a touch of cherry. It finishes with a sweet juicy and hoppy aftertaste.

Overall - At first I was a little disappointed with the flavours, but as it warmed up a bit in my glass the hops and the sweetness really came out. It's got a nice nectar like flavour that keeps you looking forward to the next sip. Lagunita's is quickly becoming one of my favourite brewers.

Big bottle poured into a goblet. Lagunitas calls this one an imperial blonde ale.

Murky tangerine, capped with a wispy head of very light tan that quickly fizzles away to a thin ring.

Very malty nose. Sweet caramel, toasted biscuits, overripe oranges, some grapefruit peel, candy sugar.

Similarity in the flavor. Begins with candy sugar and candied grapefruit peel. The swallow brings a swig of caramel and toasted biscuits. Lingering toastiness and burnt sugar notes between sips. Far from blonde ale, this tastes to me like a malty east coast-style IPA — surprising from this west coast brewery.

High, almost painful pinching carbonation in a fairly viscous medium-light body. Moderate bitterness, just a hint of booze behind the bright, sugary flavors. At 8.9 percent ABV, this is an impressive feat.

Call it a blonde ale; call it an IPA; call it what you want. This 13th anniversary ale is tasty stuff, and at $5 per bomber, the price is very right.
