This ale pours a crystal clear golden amber color with a thick white head that slowly gives way to a nice film and lacing. The aroma is more subtle than most west coast ipas. It consists of a generous amount of citrus hops with a slight malt backbone and some pine and grass notes. This offering sips very clean, light and smooth with just enough mouth coating resin to make it very delicious. The flavor is much more forward than the aroma lets on with a substantial amount of citrus and pine resolving to a nice malty sweetness and finishing with a lasting hoppy bitterness. This is a very well crafted ipa and can stand up with Stone and Green Flash as some of the best widely available west coast ipas.

I might be biasing by living 45 minutes south of Petaluma and this is probably the beer I drink most.
But biases aside here we go.
-The 12 oz bottle poured a beautiful deep gold/ bright orange into my pint glass and is fairly cloudy. The head is subtle and small and as you tipple away the lace runs up the sides.
-The smell is nice and fruity, hints of citrus and even some malt and hops in the smell. When I envision the smell of a standard west coast IPA this is what I think of.
-Right away you can taste the aggressive use of hops, but then the malt balances it nicely and opens up the whole hop bouquet. It is very floral, very citrus like and leaves a strong and solidly bitter after taste all the way down.
-The mouth feel is pretty standard, nice and smooth, pretty carbonated.
Overall I love this beer, it however is not as daring and bold as some of Lagunitas limited releases, and is a pretty standard IPA. Every one I've had is nice and homogenous, they do a good job of making sure the batches are consistent. Tastes even better on tap I recommend visiting them, wacky but fun brewery.

12oz bottle into tulip

A: Rich golden brew that light plays off of to create a sweet glow. Several columns of bubbles stream toward the surface that was once topped with a one and a half finger light white head. Not too much lacing.

S: Surprised to pick up some light malty aroma in front of the nose with mango, pineapple and bits of earth. Notes of florals that have mild resin mixed in, hints of caramel and pine needles, some citrus zest too

T: Bitter upfront with a lot of lemon citrus, middle mouth moves the flavor right to a crystal malt that sums itself into a regally crisp finish. Just before the middle mouth sets in, there’s a juicy topical flavor – tangy lemon, orange gelato. Earthy and herbaceous - sage, coriander, ginger, lemongrass pulled together pushing the balanced malt. Good battle between bitters and sweetness, decent hop profile.

M: Carbonation is in check, medium body, balanced, crisp, pretty underwhelming aftertaste, easy drinking.

O: Balance is superb, great hop presence, both in bitterness and citrusy-sugariness. A lot of side notes play in the background that give this beer many layers, I just wish one stepped up and captured the show a little more. I’ve drank and seen this on tap many-a places. This is excellent for a basically ubiquitous IPA, but nothing special.
