On-tap 10/31/2013 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI served in a US pint glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a large dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramel, maple, floral hops and roasted malts.

T: The taste starts out with an unexpectedly strong hoppy flavor followed by a mild caramel and maple sweetness. The malt character is hearty and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly hoppy.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a nice hoppy brown ale to drink for a long time.

On tap at NY Pizza. Pours a dark brown color with an inch of head. Some lacing.Aroma is piney with some grapefruit and citrus hops. Spicy hop notes as well. The taste is more of the piney hops with some grapefruit rind and citrus peel. Some light caramel malt flavor as well. Floral hop notes along with some more grapefruit pith at the end. Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation. Pretty hoppy and a good take on the style. Overall, solid brew I hope to have again.

Dark amber color with small but lasting head. Lots of blanketing lace (50% of the glass). Hazy.

Sharp pine resin/grapefruit rind aroma--definitely not what I was expecting from a brown. Still it's very attractive.

There's not much brown to this flavor; the tale to this beer is all hop bitterness. If I were blindfolded, I would swear this was an IPA. Good body and highly carbonated. The finish is dry, spritzy and long lasting.

Overall, a hop head's brown.
