This is the second time I've been to the brewery, first time to the tasting room.

When you first walk through the gates of the Lagunitas tasting room, you're meet with a relaxed crow of folks in a patio-esq out door area. To the left is stair leading to the brewery and a stage where some local musicians serenade the crowd. I don't know what it is about marin but they sure love their cheesy solo guitar noodling performers. It didn't ruin the ambience, but it always cracks me up. A few steps further and you reach to 'tasting room'. Around the center bar are plenty of seats, although you can sit at the bar, too. The environment inside was bustling. Patrons sit around while the wait staff race around. Because of the restaurant atmosphere I waited to be served, which took a bit. I wanted to just get beer at the bar, but it didn't seem like the place to do that. The menu looked great, but I didn't have room for food. The tap list was exactly what you'd expect: every beer from Lagunitas, and most of their seasonal selections. The one surprise was that they had Geuze, which was pretty amazing. On thursdays @ 4:20 they release a special batch of firkin beer. That seems like a great idea. The beers were reasonably priced, BUT the best band for your buck were the samplers. $4 gets you 4 4oz glasses of their pilsner, IPA, pale ale and one more beer, not bad. For $5 you can get a custom set for 4 beers. (either way you're looking at a pint's worth of beer for 4-5 bucks. that's a steal) I got the Sumpin' Wild, the Geuze, Gnarlywine and the Imp. Stout, which didn't go too good with the other three.
I like Lagunitas, not in love with it, but knowing that I can walk a brief stretch from my girlfriend's place to get some good beer is okay by me.

I visited Lagunitas a few days ago while road tripping down the West Coast; visiting there was part of the reason for the whole trip. I'm very glad I got a chance to visit; they had 26 beers on tap and everything I sampled was outstanding. It was awesome to discover that their taproom beers are even better than the great stuff that they bottle.

The taproom itself has a great atmosphere and there's a huge outdoor beer garden. Service is good and prompt at the bar. It's definitely worth checking out, even if Petaluma is out of your way.

(#27 of 49) We stopped here during a Wednesday mid-afternoon to try their beers. The pub was packed so we sat on the mesh-covered patio. It was pretty busy there too. The front of the building was undergoing some construction, so I don't know if a new tasting room is part of this project, but I liked the inside of the pub as well as the patio since it was a nice day.

We ordered three sampler flights for a total of 12 beers. Every one of them was brewed very well to style, which you'd expect for a large national brewery, and the quality was consistent among them so that our range of scores that we gave to each beer ranged from a B-minur to a B grade. We liked the imperial stout the best.

We didn't order any food other than some chips, but the menu is basically pub grub. Wine, cider and kombucha were available too. Nice place, great beers, we'd go back again when in the area.

Visited this place while in the Petaluma area. Pretty cool vibe, visited in the afternoon and someone was playing guitar and it made for a nice ambiance. Great quality beers, good food, free peanuts and pretzels to snack on, good service. I really liked the wide variety of patrons here, from your usual young, beardy beer geeks to older, more working class people checking out the place too. It felt like a place where people from different states and different backgrounds could talk to each other and swap stories over some quality beers. I say that because that's exactly what I did. Thanks to older bay area native and his wife who bought me and my friend beers and some wings; I hope to return the favor one day.

I gotta say, for being a big-time brewery and a place I looked forward to visiting, I wasn't wowed by Lagunitas.

The place felt a bit like a circus with the crowded feel, open spaces and kind of free-for-all way of entering.

The service was okay, not rude but not friendly, and they easily accommodated a flight for me. But then the flights came in those stange-shaped glasses and that was a bit of a bummer. Mini-snifters or nothing, yo.

There were a few one-offs on tap which is always appreciated and just drinking the classic Lagunitas lineup was nice.

A good place to visit. I noticed there were tours and I'd have like to have gone but missed out. Parking also was a bit chaotic.
