This happened to be the first home brew shop that I went to, but I haven't went to another one since after comparing their prices to other shops in the area. Their prices are rarely beat, and they have an amazing in-store selection. On top of all that, they are really great people.

This place is great. I went in knowing nothing about what I needed, shortly before closing (on a Sunday!) and they didn't bat an eye. I am a totally novice homebrewer who went in to buy a starter kit and they put it together for me, answered all of my questions, and assembled all of the ingredients I needed for the recipe I provided. I can't wait to get started and will definitely be returning there for all future supplies. They also gave me a sample of a beer they had brewed and told me about the home brew class they teach at the store the first Saturday of each month (starts around noon if you're interested!)
Can't say enough good things about this place.

Best outfit I've tried in the PDX metro area. Friendler, more responsive, better at accomodating requests like grain ledgers (other PDX vendors please take note), happy to deliver if it's on their way, decent selection of grain and hops, perhaps they don't have as much fancy hardware as the bigger stores, but it's good to know they'll compete on the regular supplies rather than try and sting you on a sculpture set. Really glad I found them, relieved that I don't have to use the other main store in town, which was unresponsive and clubbish to the point of embarrassment when I took new brewers in.

I have been to most homebrew stores in the PDX metro area and I like this one the best. The father son duo is very knowledgeable and takes care of you while you are in the store. They have a great selection and the price is one of the lowest in the Portland market. If you are on the west side this is the place to go. They also do drop offs around the metro area so if you need something and you cant drive out there they can hook you up. Only downside is that is a little cramped location since they have smaller shop.

I was looking online for some specific yeast that my LHBS did not have recently. I found a link for the yeast on Brew Brothers website and placed the order through paypal. I am familiar with paypal, but used my old address and had to send them an email to correct this. I was contacted the next day and it was corrected but I then was informed my order was for something they no longer carried. I requested something else and they had it in stock so they sent it. It is a bit pricey for shipping from OR to me so I would have preferred to just drop the order but they gave me store credit and the price of yeast was lower than average so it really only cost me a few bucks more.

I received my order quickly and it was tracked via usps so I knew when to expect it. I found the website pretty easy to use except you can't order directly through them so you have to paypal and send an email where you want it delivered - no big deal really. I will probably only use Brew Bros if I need something and my LHBS doesn't have it in stock but they were fine to deal with and the service was good. I would only have one point of criticism that the site might need to be updated more frequently.
