Stopped in here for the first time a few days ago.

Newell Liquor and Grocery is a very crowded little establishment, complete with narrow aisles, overloaded shelves, and towers of boxes. It felt like a hoarder's den. I rarely give atmosphere much consideration when reviewing a beer store, but this place was exceptionally uncomfortable.

Vibe aside, the beer selection was pretty vanilla. I didn't spot anything special or rare (aside from Rampage Imperial IPA... if that counts); the selection included only the most easily attainable craft beers out there. The selection was large enough to merit this store's appearance on Beer Advocate, but that's it. Don't expect to find anything new or exciting here.

I can't speak on service as I didn't end up interacting with the cashier (nor did I buy anything), but the prices were fair and all of the beer resided in coolers away from direct sunlight.

There's no need to stop here with Whole Foods right across the street. If you've got a car, go to Monument in Concord or Jackson's in Lafayette.
