A weaponized quantity of freshly roasted whole bean coffee from Dark Matter Coffee Roasters imbues our Deth’s Tar Barrel-Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout with assertive coffee aromatics without overshadowing the base beer on the palate. Pair with rich food or enjoy on its own. Keep cold. Enjoy now. We mean it.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a short light tan head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of coffee beans are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of fruity and chocolatey malts.
M: It feels full-bodied and very smooth on the palate on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This stout is very complex and almost seems like it is a bourbon barrel aged beer.
Serving type: can

12oz. Can into a Tree House wine glass.
0.5 finger mocha head. Pours pitch black but not particularly thick. Sparse, spotty lace with little stick. Thin, oily legs. Nose is booze, iced coffee, aluminum, and a touch of dark chocolate brownie. Mellow. Beer opens espresso, ethanol, and chocolate. More booze in the middle. Touch of sweet soy sauce, iced coffee, sweet cream, and cocoa dust in the middle to end. Chocolate and mellow syrup in the aftertaste. Body is medium to full with moderate to low carbonation. Smooth with some bubbles. Prickly on the palate and going down. Sticky, lingering finish.
Everything is here but the feel for me in this one. It's solid but the body is a touch thin and carbonated.

pour looked gorgeous, opaque raven with a bubbly chocolate milkshake-like crest, receding to a persistent ring around the perimeter of the class. Nose to me was earthy, fumy and a slightly sweet complexity. On the palate, so very balanced - on the sweet side, but all the elements get to have their say. Lingers on the tongue, swallows quite syrupy, bitter coffee notes punctuate the aftertaste.
while an old compadre once advised "have your coffee in the morning and your brew at night"... this then becomes an exception of why-not-both.

2023 Batch! Sweet milk chocolate, mocha coffee roasty, and a subtle vanilla-bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows pretty closely with the roasty coffee notes a touch restrained...and that's a good thing! This is really well-balanced between the roasty coffee notes and the barrels. Good stuff!

The subtlety and nuance of the barrel aging and coffee are outstanding. Best version of Deth’s Tarr I’ve had so far.
