Amazing beer.
Poured from a 16 oz beer that was bottled 9/2019.
Tropical aftertaste with an excellent mouthfeel. One of the better "hazy" beers I have drank.
Highly recommend if you can get it fresh.

Poured from a 12oz can with a canned on date of 8/23/18; into a pub glass.
Appearance- an oily gold with several bubble streams clinging to a thin soapy white head; lacing is strong.
Smell - mild tropical and citrus along with a touch of pine tree.
Taste - grapefruit meshed with juicy fruit gum and the pine is subtle!
Feel - very hop forward bitter feel with nice carbonation and a slightly dry finish!
Overall- well put together IPA, nothing outrageous, just a very quality offering!

I will need to rate this one again since after tasting I realized that this one's been lurking in the 'ol beer fridge for more than a year. Fill date is August of 2017. Or maybe I just grabbed an old can at the local emporium. SO PLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FOR MY RECORDS ONLY. Or something.

So, grading on the curve, this is pretty middle of the road. Maybe a fresher can would have some more outstanding characteristics of the mosaic hops. I'll try to revisit.

12 oz can with a 26 June 2018 fill date stamp served in a pint glass.
Pours amber with a tall, creamy, off-white head. Great lacing and good retention.
Moderately strong, complex aroma featuring, of course, hops.
Moderate-mild bitterness for style with plenty of tropical and generic citrus in the taste and aftertaste, accompanied by some subtle bready and sweet malts.
Overall: almost the best of the 3-4 Revolution xxx-Hero beers I've tried so far.

12 oz can from the 12 pack of Heros. Poured into a standard pint, the beer is a chill hazed bronze with a dense and sticky off-white head. The beer has terrific lacing. It is a looker.

Nice aroma of Mosaic hops! Tropical fruits reminds me a bit of fresh juicy fruit gum. It’s inviting!

The taste leads with pineapple maybe papaya or guava. It is bitter but not overpowering. The malts add kind of a subtle almost sweet balance. Still the bitterness pushes to the forefront.

The mouth is oily and coating and it has a medium body.

Revolution does IPAs right!

All the heroes are great from Revolution. Would have to arrange a blind test to rank them sequentially.
$1.70 at Wegman's in mix-six.
a) Clear, deep orange-amber, with active white head that lasts and laces resonably. Good color.
s) It's a pungent aroma with abundance of tropical fruits including grapefruit rind.
t) Follows the aroma with added pine, wet grass, marmalade, mango, and berries. The caramel malt is balanced by the ample bitter, rendering my favoite kind of flavor see-saw. dank and fruity.
f) Medium bodied, good feel, tickle and finishes crisp and dry. The finish with lingering pine.
o) Mosaic truthfully rendered.

And yet another "Hero" this one with mosaic hops.
Poured a clear golden color, white head, nice lacing.
Very nice tropical fruit aromas and flavors.
It's another very good IPA, but seasonal.

Unfortunately realized after the fact that this can was 8 months old. Have to grade things based on what I’m actually drinking, but there is some really phenomenal potential here given that the hops have clearly fallen off massively and the strong (and excellent) malt backbone is really prevelant. Very sweet but there’s still some citrus pith and a little tropical fruit. Look and feel are excellent and I look very forward to trying a fresher sample in the future.

This beer pours a clear gold with a solid head. The aroma features bright citrus, with pine, pink grapefruit flesh, lemon peel, pineapple, and guava. The flavor leads with grapefruit and lemon peel, pineapple, and guava. The mouthfeel is light, crisp, and fizzy. Overall this is quite nice - a classic flavor combo for mosaic, and nicely dry, but lacking a bit in vibrancy. However, I failed to check dates before buying this, and the date is well past prime - I would love to see this when fresh.

Thanks to HIGHPA for this 12 oz. can that recently arrived via unfrozen box. Lifting in salute to our current temp of -7 headed for -14. But there are no fires, earthquakes, or hurricanes around here. Glass half full!

Actually, it’s about 3/4 full of lovely golden liquid, with no hint of northeast anything. Nose rings with citrus & tropical zing. Nice.

Mosaic Hero is a citrus lovers dream. Citrus is front, center, & running all the way through this brew, along with a bit of pine, orange peel, & an almost rye-like spicing. Mid-palate brings the dreaded earthy dankness, but it isn’t as mud-in-my-mouth as some, again, more like rye than anything else. Moderate bitterness arrives via the finish, along with some saw grass & grapefruit. An easy drinker that gives the lie to the 7.5% ABV.

Given this blind, I’d have sworn it was a rye IPA, & an excellent one at that. Lovely balance to the bitterness & flavor.

Revolution Beer LLC "Mosaic-Hero India Pale Ale"
12 fl. oz. can, "FILLED: 08-28-2017 17:52:54
$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Well it looks good. It's clear, first of all, and there's a massive head of rocky off-white very slowly settling above it's deep golden/amber body. The aroma is pungent with plenty of tropical fruits including pineapple, orange, and grapefruit. The head has now settled to just one-finger thick but it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon, and there's some nice lace left where the larger head had originally been. The flavor follows the aroma with some additional pine, mango, and berries. The malt is gently caramelish and bready. It's solidly bitter, I'm not sure how many IBUs but I'd guess around 60 to 70, maybe 70 although that seems a little high. Overall it's a good balance of "dank" and fruitiness in the hops, and nicely balanced between malt, hops, and bitterness - there's no drinking this and being confused as to whether it's an IPA or not! Medium bodied and quite crisp. Very dry finish with lingering tropical fruits and soft pine. I don't exactly recall the other beers I've tried from Revolution, but this one might be my favorite so far - disclaimer: I also really like Mosaic hops. Definitely worth trying.

Canned 09/29/17

Appearance - Poured into a 12oz tulip. Relatively clear and golden in color with an off-white, near two-finger width head. Good retention resultins in a thin, consistent layer of suds atop.

Smell - Very Citrusy and tropical with a hint of dankness. Lots of pineapple and orange with lesser white grapefruit.

Taste - Follows the nose. Fresh citrus character upfront and throughout with notes of orange and some grapefruit bitterness. Underlying tropical flavor beneath with pineapple leading the way. Not much for balance. Very rich in citrus and hop bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair, bitey carbonation. Quickly turns dry, making for a bit of a chore to drink.

Overall - Solid IPA. Very aggressively flavored... maybe too much? Very good for the first half of the bottle but I'm having a difficult time finishing this, and it's not due to my lack of love for hops.

Golden orange color, tan head. Aromas are dank hops, with loads of passion fruit, tangerine, and pineapple.

Taste is pungent Mosaic hops, with dank tropical flavors dominating. The base beer is very good, and this is better, IMHO. Well done by a Chicago brewery that does a great job, again IMHO.

From a can dated 8/28/17.

Poured a deep amber with a huge, thick head and tons of lacing.

Lots of classic Mosaic hops on the nose with tropical and piney notes.

The taste follows with a very smooth, balanced flavor and slightly bitter, lingering finish.

The mouthfeel is a bit oily, smooth, but not super thick.

Overall a nice showcase of Mosaic hops. Easy to drink.

Immediately as I poured this, I could smell how bitter and hoppy (I thought) this beer would be. Pours a golden orange with a foamy head. Strong citrus smell with a punchy, tangy mouthfeel, like a grapefruit rind left out in the sun. Im not sure how to describe this beer! It's almost like it's going to be unbearably heavy and bitter, but then the taste quickly dissipates and doesn't deliver the strong overbearing flavor that I expect. No heavy, lingering, bitter aftertaste.. kinda just a refreshing, light hoppiness. A surprising finish for something with a 7.5% abv! So complex.. another reason why Revolution is one of my favorites. A solid 4/5.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/15/2017. Pours slightly hazy golden orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, blueberry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/earthy hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Extremely dank and vibrant hops; nice bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Never overly aggressive. A really amazing showcase of the Mosaic hop character, even with the addition of Zythos to the mix. Intensely tropical. A really enjoyable offering.

I picked this one up as part of a variety pack that Revolution put out. Based on the reputation that Revolution has for this series, I am very excited to finally give this one a shot, especially after really enjoying Anti-Hero.

This beer pours a brilliantly clear light amber hue that is rich with carbonation and features a heavily frothy, almost creamy, taupe colored head that is very persistent. 4.25/5 The aroma is strong and full of tropical hops as well as pine resin, with both aromas really working well together. This creates a bit of a sweet sensation to the aroma due to the fruitiness while also being quite earthy with the pine. The malt is very light here and comes across as more of a cracker or white bread aroma, but this is as an undertone and nothing more. 4/5 The flavor is every bit as strong as the aroma with a good dose of tropical fruity sweetness and pine resin before mellowing out and transitioning to a light bit of white bread and grain. These malt notes quickly subside into the bitterness that becomes apparent on the back of the tongue which is moderate in strength and is quite persistent after swallowing. As the beer warms a bit of spiciness comes through as well, further adding to the depth. 4.25/5 This is a medium bodied beer that has lively carbonation and is moderately drying with a bit of astringency to it. It is a bit prickly due to the carbonation content as well. The dryness does linger for quite some time after swallowing. 4/5 This is easily one of the best single hop IPAs that I have had. It is definitely not balanced, but it is not supposed to be. The bitterness and flavor balance is very good though with the strength of each complementing one another. 4.25/5

12oz can, about 8 weeks old. Great looking pour -- about three fingers of foam, excellent head retention, big streaks of lacing. The aroma is pretty "conventional" for an all(?) Mosaic IPA. Mostly grapefruit-like citrus notes and a grassy character, with just a little bit of the berry notes and complexity that Mosaic is known for. Robust bitterness, light on malt for 7.5% ABV. Clean, uneventful finish. Slick mouthfeel that's a bit sudsy and oily. Not one of the top-tier Revolution heroes, nor a great showcase of Mosaic hops, but still a good IPA.

Poured from a 12oz can dated 2-3-17

It is a very cloudy dark gold, to copper color. Large, frothy, off white head with great retention.

It smells pretty earthy/musty with over ripe tropical fruits and a significant biscuit/doughy backdrop. Slightly peppery. I would describe it mostly as mango, pineapple, and melon or grapefruit.

It is very spicy. Almost rye like. A lot of mango, some melon/cantelope, papaya, bready malts with a bit of berry like sweetness. A solid bitterness in the end.

Much heavier bodied than the other Heroes. Almost to an imperial level. Smooth though, with appropriate carbonation. The peppery tinge is a bit strong. Not a lot of resin feel.

This one is much darker, and produces a better head than the other variants. Outside of the spicey bite though, the Mosaic hops just don't pop like I expected. Very good, and my favorite of the variations, but probably not better than Anti Hero in my opinion.
