Canned 3/30/16; drank 4/8/16 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque brown/purple appearance.
A violent pour yielded a huge khaki head; nice lace.
Peanut butter, mild smoke & faint pickle juice notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Peanut butter, pickle juice & coffee flavors; sweet sugar settled on my lips over the course of the session.
Cloying & puckering; not a good combination. Tough to finish.

Unfortunately, my can was a gusher. Despite this, it still tastes OK, so I'll review it. Requiring a very careful pour over 5 minutes to get it into my glass. Pours out to a cloudy sediment rich medium brown, forming a tall soapy light tan head with good retention and lacing. Carbonation again, is a gusher 4.5-5 carbs or so. The nose is ok...definitely light roast coffee and garage dust. Mouthfeel is effervescent and light bodied. The taste is OK. Limpid macro brown taste with coffee. Medium bitterness.
Meh, an ok coffee brown. I wouldn't be inclined to buy it again.

Huge tan caviar bubbled head over a light brown body.
Smell is coffee, cola, sassafras and nuts.
This beer is too frothy and fluffy over a light body to easily deliver flavors to your palate. Taste is sharp yet sweet cola, with an almost floral nuttiness. I would be hard pressed to call this a beer if I hadn't known, and even the coffee is edged out by lightness and sweetness.

Tastes like a brown ale with coffee flavor. No complexity, no Revolution boldness - just the brown ale bitterness. I should stick to the coffee stouts for fuller, richer flavor.

With no shortage of coffee roasters in Chicago, the Revolution and Upland brewers rely upon the roasters at Dark Matter as they embark upon a collaboration ale who's base is as agreeable, drinkable and charming as the coffee itself. English brown ale is the answer.
Revved Up pours a brilliantly clear set of brown, copper and garnet hues. Its tarnish khaki foam is creamy and lacy as its rich lather releases a robust yet moderate scent of nutty, chocolaty, earthy coffee with a hint of chocolate, toffee and toasted pecan in the recesses. Rich in taste, its the malt that layers on the tongue with caramel and toffee, chocolate and nuttiness, mild earthiness and roast.
And its that early palate that carries through the center of the palate, all the while trailing with a moderately strong coffee flavor. It in itself carries a caramel, chocolate, nutty and almost buttery character to accent the ale underneath expectedly well. Balancing bitterness offsets the bulk of sweetness with a mild gripping woodsiness that's easily debunked as exclusively coffee alone.
Medium bodied with a full flavor, the beer's moderate carbonation allows the sweetness to weigh on the the tongue with a calming depth and breadth of malt flavor. A linger of caramel and rootish woods elude to the coffee additions until the light bitter end.

A - Dark brown ale, short white head, some lacing.
S - A fairly quiet nose, with malt at the fore, and a definite coffee hint. Molasses and caramel.
T - Opens with sweetness, quiet malts, coming to a lovely nutty flavor and a moderate cold brewed coffee middle, and a mildly bitter close.
M - Brisk carbonation, and a slightly dry close.
O - This is a very nice brown that uses its coffee to great effect, heightening the nice sweet malty core with a brightening acidity and a mild bitterness.

Beautiful pour into a nonic pint glass. Fairly clear amber color with a nice creamy head with good retention and decent lacing. Ground coffee aroma with a hint of malt. Pretty thin mouth feel with light carbonation. Tasted very strongly of coffee, no subtlety to this one. It is okay but I guess that I just am not really into coffee flavored beer. I love coffee and I love beer but I guess I can do without the mash up.

Ruby-ish brown in color, fairly clear considering how dark it is. One finger of tan head that has average retention and leaves no lacing. The nose is dominant coffee with some malty sweetness. The taste follows, with coffee again leading the way. It has that nice traditional maltiness of a brown, but there is a slight metallic note that I don't care for. The body is medium-light to medium with moderate carbonation. A slightly bitter, slightly dry finish. Overall it is a solid brown with big coffee flavor, but not my favorite from Revolution.

12oz, canned 03/30/16
A - brown body with ruby at the edges; foamy tan head holds good retention
S - coffee, grain, caramel, toffee
T - heavy dose of coffee with caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, earthy hops
M - medium body, moderate carbonation, finishes well balanced with a bit of a hop bite
O - I like this because I like coffee. The coffee is very bold but they did a nice of job of this beer. Fun to try but I likely won't buy it again.
