Flavor improves markedly as this warms. Near room temp seems optimal. A bit thinner than other Deth variants with a higher level of carbonation. Mouthfeel is medium; barrel is very well integrated.

Tasted in a snifter from draft at Consume on November 16, 2018. Tart with a soft sweetness. Notes of chocolate and roast from malt, vanilla and graham from the oak and bourbon.

Canned 10/26/18; drank 11/25/18 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge dark tan head; a thick curtain of frothy lace.

Currant, milk chocolate, oak & faint bourbon notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Currant, raisin & milk chocolate flavors up front; mild oak & faint bourbon notes on the finish.

Fruit-forward but very balanced & enjoyable; most importantly, potent but not too boozy. Borderline incredible.

11/19/18 (Chicago): $12.16 9 oz draft pour into snifter at Revolution Brewpub. Pitch black pour, thin tan head quickly dissipated, leaving light lacing. Bourbon strongest of the aromas, balanced by roasted chocolate. Excellent taste balance, blend of bourbon and fruit and chocolate. Sweet, but not to sweet, excellent! Somewhat creamy, silky smooth drinking. Overall excellent pour.

Had on tap. I have long stated my love for currants, as I do with rhubarb, in beers, because they really add a nice sweet tartness. This one was no exception. Take the dark deths tar bourbon, those beautiful malts, and add a fruity twist.
The dark chocolate becomes semi-sweet. The booze because brighter. And the finish is full of currant, red grape and raspberry jam. Sweet fruits are tart and slightly acidic, so if you want a thicker, earthier stout, look past. Nice fruity dessert.

A: Pours black, sticks to sides of glass
S: Bright currant, juicy raspberry, roasted malt, bourbon, sweet chocolate, blackberry jam, floral
T: Bright currant, bourbon, cacao, light acidity, raspberry, light earthy roast
M: Thicker side but not on the level of BCBS
O: The currants come through very well and the light tart acidity makes me feel like I could drink much more of this than just the base on its own
