Notes: A new hero is soaring in from a completely new direction–the effervescent Brut-Hero, sparkling with white grape, passionfruit, and lemon notes and capped with an extra-dry champagne-like finish.

12 ounces, “filled 6-4-19”

Pours near clear and lifts a large and lasting off white cap...thicker strands of lacing left on the glass.

Mild sniff, with honey and fruit coming to mind.

On the palate it’s sweet, honey malts, some lime, melon and mango. Refreshing and tasty...was purchased as part of a 12 can variety pack....

12oz can, snifter glass. Slightly cloudy golden straw yellow body, one finger frothy white head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is white grape, grapefruit and a touch of piney resin, light caramel. Fairly dry, lemony and herbal notes overall. Flavour follows as expected for the style it is a fairly dry, grape-forward, rindy finish. Caramel, lemon, a bit of grapefruit in between. Mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied, good carbonation, pleasantly dry, nice hop bite behind it all. I don't love Brut IPAs, but as far as the style goes, pretty solid.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear yellow-gold, lots of bubbles, good head.

Smell: Lemony aroma, dry.

Taste: Dry, citrusy, a little sweetness underneath. More lemon, then finish is pretty bitter.

Overall: I'm trying a lot of brut IPAs and trying to get a handle on them. Brut-hero is a dry and bitter IPA that reminds me of some old-school west coast IPAs. I suppose the body is lighter than those which makes it "brut". I enjoyed it, we'll keep trying to figure out this style.

12oz can, filled 11-13-2018. Frothy ivory head slowly fades atop a golden colored ale - not as effervescent as I anticipated, but this is my first stab at a Brut IPA. Fruity and piney aroma with a bit of citrus. Ok, flavor is different than a typical IPA; flavors are modest with notes of fruity white grape, grapefruit, orange, pine. Exceptionally dry mouth-feel, lighter body, higher carbonation, way dry on the finish. Again, first try with this style. I get it now. I may try more for comparison purposes in order to get a better feel for this one. As a beer in general, it was enjoyable and I liked the extreme dryness on the finish.

Canned on 11/13/18. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity; white head that quickly fades leaving okay retention and lacing along with some bubbles racing upwards. The aromas have some faint hints of citrus and tropical fruits. Lots of fresh bread and crackers. Malts are there. The flavors are clean, crisp, sharp and refreshing. Some lemon and pear. Some citric qualities. Mild hints of black pepper flavor, but it's not spicy at all. Moderate bitterness. Malts do their thing, but definitely take a backseat. Finishes dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is great. It's medium-bodied with sharp, active and spritzy carbonation. It's very smooth and easy to drink.

This is my first time having a "Brut IPA", so take that for whatever it's worth. I feel it's a solid brew. Once again, it's very clean, crisp, sharp and refreshing. The craftsmanship is impressive and is what you would expect from a Revolution IPA. It's enjoyable and fun to drink. It might possibly be even better than my "numerical score" might indicate.

An aggressive pour yields a beautiful, crystalline golden beer with a soapy off-white head. Very fruity nose, with lemongrass and passion fruit most prominent.

The taste has the white grape flavors referenced on Revolution’s website, and a generous lemongrass flavor as well. The mouthfeel, while very nice, isn’t as dry as found in the brut style.

I love the Hero series, and this is a really drinkable, but it’s a step below the others in the series. And that’s okay.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/13/2018. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, white grape/wine, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, white grape/wine, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, pear, passion fruit, red apple, mango, melon, white grape/wine, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, fairly crisp, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a very nice Brut IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Probably all Nelson hops. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hop complexity; nice solid pale malt backbone, with minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected.
