Canned 6/17/20. It's all about the coffee with this one. Pours a pitch black with a little bit of head. Smells like a boozy espresso drink. Really great coffee flavor without being overpowering. Can't imagine if you like coffee that you wouldn't like this beer. Regular Cafe Deth seems tame by comparison now.

Had this on draft 10/19/19 @ Revolution Taproom.

Jet black appearance with a dark tan head. MASSIVE freshly roasted coffee bean notes in the nose; dark & medium roast intermingle.

This was by far the most coffee-forward beer I've ever had; plus there was no booze heat so for java nerds this is a DANGEROUS concoction. Not for everyone, surely, but I loved it!

poured from a 16oz crowler into a snifter. pours an inky jet black with virtually zero head to speak of. almost hardly any bubbles as well. pungent bourbon aromas waft through the air immediately and that’s without even bringing the glass to my nose. spicy bourbon and spicy coffee dominate the nose with some roast and chocolate vying for a spot in this beer’s aroma. get more chocolate in the taste than in the nose but this is a bourbon and coffee bomb. definitely seems to be a darker roast coffee in this one (which i feel like is always my experience with Dark Matter, and Rev). a full-bodied, slick and low carb mouthfeel make this beast of an imperial stout worthy of its “Super Massive” name, and it is just that - a super massive improvement to Cafe Deth.

Wow!!! Coffee, coffee, coffee. If you like coffee then you'll love this one. Tons of coffee in the smell and lots up front in the taste. But there is a lot of sweetness from the chocolate to offset the coffee and then the bourbon hits at the end and stays on the tongue for a while. A perfect balance of flavors. Revolution's barrel program has become my favorite.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

There's obviously a lot of coffee on the nose - roast, chocolate, caramel, just so much vibrant coffee, along with char, oak, and bourbon.

This has such a wonderful creamy flavor to it, with basically no boozy flavor at all. It really is an aggressive coffee bomb, with loads of chocolate, bright roast, some lemon, caramel, etc. It all melds well with the high quality stout base. It says the "sweet component" of Deth's Tar was used, but it's really not that sweet of a beer. The oak and char help keep the sweetness down, and help keep it balanced, like most Revolution BA beers tend to be.

This is medium bodied, incredibly creamy, and rich, with a very smooth finish. There's no heat at all, even with it being 14.1%.

I can't imagine someone who likes coffee not liking this stout. It's tremendous.

12oz can, dated 06.17.2020, poured into a stemless wine glass.

The beer pours a crazy opaque and thick jet black color, oily and viscous with a firm finger and a half of khaki head that has nice retention but yields no lacing. The aroma is booming with fresh coffee, huge roast but a ton of richness, loads of chocolate, light fruity acidity that plays well with the inherent stone fruits in the base beer, soft bourbon, chewy oak and a lingering vanilla. The flavors echo the coffee blast in the nose, loaded with roasted beans, smooth and decadent mocha, bourbon, oak, toasty grain that brings out a charred wood, toffee and caramel with vanilla and a nice fruity acidity at the finish that is warm with alcohol. The mouthfeel is good, coating and smooth but a more lively medium body that is prickly and very warm and dry at the finish.

Verdict: An incredible coffee stout from Revolution. Just bursting at the seams with coffee, oozing with roast, dripping with espresso, all the coffee superlatives you can dream up, this beer has it, but with a nice layer of barrel character that makes for an even more complex experience.

Pitch black with a tight mocha head. Obviously massive coffee leads the smell, with semi-sweet chocolate, bourbon, char, oak, molasses, and earth. Taste mirrors the nose with tremendous depth from both the coffee and the barrel, get vanillins, caramel, and tobacco in the mix now, complex, very bold, and perfectly balanced where coffee stars but there is plenty of nuance. Feel is surprisingly drinkable despite the fuller body and higher gravity, rich, warm, and velvet smooth. Best coffee stout of 2020 hands down

12 oz. can. Pours black with a nice mocha head. Smells of bourbon, oak, vanilla, deep and rich coffee. Tastes of bourbon and coffee in equal measures. Deep rich coffee again. Dark chocolate malts. Oak and vanilla. And lots of alcohol. Very heavy. Very boozy. I may regret drinking a whole can, but this is really tasty.

Regular Cafe Deth is one of my favorite coffee stouts if not my absolute favorite, so I'm super excited to try this new variant. I was a big fan of the Espresso version of KBS by Founders and I'm hoping this goes that way as well. Looking at it, it seems too thin to be honest. It looks like a porter. I love the syrupy motor oil stouts and Rev's have always been a bit thin for me. They usually make up for it in other ways though. It's completely black with no bubbles left. It looks like it's lost all of its carbonation. Smell wise it's amazing. I get tons of coffee and booze and I love the boozier BA stouts. Drinking it, I'm immediately hit with coffee and chocolate and vanilla notes. It is still thin but I do feel some carbonation which I like. As it warms the booze becomes more forward but it's not overpowering at all for me. I need to drink the next one back to back with a regular to see the difference and which one I like more. I think I'm leaning toward Supermassive.
