Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

Pours an almost opaque brown color with garnet highlights and a one finger milk chocolate head that dissipates to a solid ring of foam and leaves huge lace.

Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, and slight hint of chocolate boozy warmth.

Flavor follows suit with caramel sweetness leading to roasted malt and a stronger presence of chocolate and caramel. The boozy booze is more pronounced in the roasty finish.

Body is medium with low carbonation ending with an alcoholic warmth.

Overall, an excellent example of the style, albeit a bit on the sweet side. Very drinkable and will be great as a cold weather brew.

Poured a dark opaque chocolate color in a Stone imperial pint glass.

Aroma- light chocolate, fruit- an excellent aroma for the style.

Mouth feel: carbonated, tart.

Taste: roasted malt, chocolate,
with an excellent chocolate malt finish.

Overall: an excellent Porter- one of the best I have tasted in a while. Ordinarily, I am not a fan of the style.
Porters are often lackluster, and usually chiefly roasted malt in the taste without fruit. This beer goes beyond expectations. I'll buy some more.

Appearance: Quite a nice glass of darkness with a light beige head about an inch thick.

Aroma: Dark roasted coffee as well as the malts. Chocolate, bits of vanilla with twinges of bourbon way towards the back.

Taste: A wave of bitter chocolate but as it mellows out the chocolate malts become quite smooth. Slight notes of burnt hop, dark roasted chocolate malts, light vanilla. Good dark roasted coffee with a bit of a crisp finish.

Notes: Quite solid inside and out along with good drinkability. Cheers.

A phenomenal representation of the style. 12 oz can poured into a table glass. Pours a thick almost-black, with a mocha head. Chocolate on the nose, with malt, medium roast beans, and chocolate leading on the palate as well. Mouthfeel is wonderfully creamy and thick as a porter should be. Overall, not an extreme beer - just a solid, balanced beer that's true to its style.
*Note* this beer may taste even better from the can - there's just something to it that complements this beer better than a glass.

A proper porter with a full, thick body that is hard to find in most beers of this style. Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee. On tap at Hop & Scotch in Brookline, MA.

Pours from the can a nice, thick black color. Some caramel colored head retention, which dissipates half way through the glass. Hearty toasted malt aroma. Nice full caramel malt flavor, alcohol noticeable as well. Chocolaty.

Mouthfeel is thick, but has more carbonation present than the beer's appearance does. Overall pretty solid, I cant say anything bad about it. My first from Revolution, looking forward to trying more from this brewery.

Let it warm up a bit and highly recommend pairing with a light to medium spiced chili. Really brings out that sweet sticky chocolate from the porter. A nice dark chocolate also. Has a hint of bitter to it. Definitely changed the game of this beer.

Pours an opaque deep brown with a tan head that quickly fades.
An aroma of chocolate and roast notes and a slight, fruit acidity.
Taste is loads of medium-dark chocolate with a nice light and bitter char in the middle and a slightly acidic finish. Some light fruity notes coming through as well.
Mouthfeel is medium and appropriately smooth and creamy.
Really good stuff.

Pours clear, dark brown, with 1/2 inch head. Taste is deep roasted malt, baker's chocolate, and slight earthiness. Above average, solid American porter. If I wanted this style, I would reach for this.
