Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

Poured from a can into a pint

A. Very dark brown opaque with a dark tan 2 finger head.

S. Roasted malts, Vanilla, light coffee and chocolate.

T. Agreeing with the nose I get some roasted malts and vanilla. Light chocolate flavors. ending with slight bitterness.

M. Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Lil more carbonation than i'd like from a porter but nothing critical. Finishes slightly dry.

O. A decent porter. There are others i'd reach for first but still good enough to drink and enjoy.

Now that it warms I get a lil more smokey flavor which im enjoying. Also I can feel the alcohol a lil more. Bumped ratings.

This is one of those beers you have all the time and then you realize you never reviewed it..

From a 12 oz can poured into a pint glass, the beer is a very dark brown with a dark tan head.

Inviting aroma of roasted malts and dark fruit.

The taste leads with semi-sweet roasted malts. There are hints of coffee, raisins and molasses. There is some bite from the hops and some very ripe plum. It hangs together nicely.

The mouth is semi-thick with a bit of creaminess.

All-in-all, a very enjoyable porter and one that I continue to revisit on a regular basis.

Pours from the can a nice, thick black color. Some caramel colored head retention, which dissipates half way through the glass. Hearty toasted malt aroma. Nice full caramel malt flavor, alcohol noticeable as well. Chocolaty.

Mouthfeel is thick, but has more carbonation present than the beer's appearance does. Overall pretty solid, I cant say anything bad about it. My first from Revolution, looking forward to trying more from this brewery.

Good but lacking a bit on the carbonation front ... feels a bit flat in a way. Nice roasted flavors, smooth, very little hop bite.
