Classic amber with a thick, off-white froth settling to a creamy blanket leaving marshmallow fluff lace.

Notes of graham, grapefruit and pine on the nose are joined by orange and bread on the palate. Bitter but drinkable.

L-Deep gold color...1/4 inch frothy egg white head...

S-Not as fragrant as some of these Hero beers but nice pine/evergreen notes along with citrus impressions of pink grapefruit, tangerines and orange rind.

T-Citrus up front....mandarin oranges, tangerines...then on the finish more of a unsweetened grapefruit flavor.

F-Medium bodied....finishes dry and a little hoppy....kind of a unsweetened grapefruit like feel to the finish..

O-More bitter and dry than a few of the other Hero IPA's. This is good in its own way. Those who want more a bite to their IPA will enjoy this. It's a well made beer.

I picked up a can of Revolution's Anti-Hero IPA last week for $1.79 at The Lager Mill. I tried the local version a couple days ago and now it's time to try the original version, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a 12oz can into an IPA glass.

A- The can looks nice, it's got a nice design that goes with the name and it's eye catching. It poured a slightly hazy orange color that took on more of a golden orange color when held to the light and it had almost four fingers worth of fluffy and fairly creamy white head that died down to a thick ring that stayed till the end and it left some nice rings of patchy lacing behind. This is a very nice looking IPA, I have no complaints at all.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and it imparts a mixture of fruity, citrus rinds, light floral, dank and light green hops like aromas with the fruity hops sticking out the most by a little bit. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast which leads into the malts which impart some pale malt, light caramel malt, light grainy and bready aromas with a little more sweet malts at the end. This beer has a pretty nice aroma, the balance is good.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops still being the first to show up and they impart all the same aspects with the fruity hops still sticking out the most by a little bit. Up next comes a slight bit of doughy yeast which leads into the malts which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and they impart all the same aspects. On the finish there's a slightly higher amount of medium bitterness that lingers just a little and it has a hoppy and slightly malty aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting IPA, the balance is right where it needs to be and I like the hop profile.

M- Fairly smooth, slightly refreshing, not overly bitter, a little crisp, medium bodied with a slightly lighter amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and it's a solid IPA, it's pretty straightforward and true to style with nothing seeming to be out of place. This beer had nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and balance, to me those were the highlights of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is that the fruity and dank hops didn't show up a little more in the taste, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I would buy this beer again when in the mood for solid IPA and I would recommend it to anyone else looking for the same. All in all I liked this beer, no fancy tricks with this one, it's just nice and straightforward IPA. It's my new favorite beer from this brewery and it's a nice example of the style. Nice job guys, this is a solid IPA, keep it up.

On tap in a pint glass.

An impressive looking copper-amber color, sturdy and clear. The 1F fluffy white cloud had some staying power and left wide rings of lacing.

Very hoppy with a roasted bread background. There are citrus, floral, and herb/spice notes. It smells big.

Lots of malt flavor to counter the strong hops. Citrus, a touch of pine, and some spice come through.

The body is not as big as the look, but it's more than adequate. Lots of hop bitterness.

It hits the IPA target for me.
