Malt forward IPA. Pours a fantastic medium gold with a great looking head. Might be one of the best looking beers I've seen. Aroma is sweet malts, honey, citrus and floral notes. Taste is of some tropical fruits and bready malts. There's a lot of different stuff going on here. Very multidimensional beer with no dominant characteristics - other than the malt overpowering the hops. Feel is medium with medium carbonation. A tasty brew even for someone who prefers to IPAs to be hop forward.

Appearance: pours a clear orange color with a big 2" fluffy head that lasts a long time. Lots of lace develops on the glass.

Smell: citrus and floral bitterness is easy to detect.

Taste: caramel, lemon zest, orange, and a floral and mildly earthy bitterness to round it out.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp to start, less crisp and a touch dry late.

Overall: big flavored IPA that is satisfying to drink. Had this within one month of canning too.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/17/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, honey, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky/resinous, and creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is a very nice American IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. Nicely juicy on hop flavors; nice malt backbone without being too sweet. A very enjoyable offering.

A: The beer is crystal clear amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with two finger high fluffy white head that died down, leaving a short head covering the surface and a thick coating of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy and piney hops are present in the nose along with hints of caramel hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, starting out with flavors of citrusy and piney hops and a moderate amount of bitterness. Notes of caramel malts are present in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a solid IPA and has some complexities in the smell and taste from the use of different hop varieties.

L: Dark honey, apple juice color, decent head that dissipated fast
S: Floral, malty, grassy smell
T: A nice blend between the hops and malts. Slightly bitter upfront but smooths out towards the end. Chinook, Amarillo hops maybe?
F: Smooth and clean, medium carb, good feeling beer
O: A fine beer that isn't my first choice but definitely a solid choice.

-optitically clear amber pour from can (canned 23 days ago). Aroma is faintly hoppy. Crisp pine hop flavors with a pronounced malt-back. Finish is very dry. I like this beer.

Canned 20 Oct 2016. Not sure why, but this showed up in Oregon.

A mildly hazy light copper with a dense off white head with good retention and nice lacing, this looks solid. The nose is a blend of grassy and floral citrus hops, orange pith, floral honey, a little dough, and some pine. A distinct malt character, a blend of biscuit and cracker dough, is present. The palate opens bitter with a nice fruitiness, a blend of blood orange and grapefruit, Jasmine and rose like floral notes. The mid palate has dough, a light caramel and some biscuit. A little dull, in some ways. Drying, bitter and a little pith like on the finish, this beer is medium light in body and moderately carbonated. Solid stuff.

Tangerine-led citrus punch up front, then a dry floral finish with a touch of grapefruit. It's got a bit of body to it, and compared to most midwest IPAs, this has more juice to the hops character. I'd bring a sixer to a party.

I have now had this beer twice and it was slightly different each time.
Both times it poured a bright amber with a glowing orange hue. Big foam head, retained well.
Citrusy, tropical fruit, resiny weed like hops and caramel malts in the nose.
The first time I had this it was sweet and juicy with a moderate hops presence. The second time, it felt drier and with a stronger piny hops presence. Both times it was citrusy and with a solid caramel malt backbone.
Medium to light bodied and smooth in the mouth. Easy to drink.
I'm happy to see this brewery came to NY. I really liked this brew.

From a fresh, two week old can.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange color with a big three finger, off white head.

Aroma is fantastic, lots of grapefruit, orange and mango with a whiff of caramel malt in the background.

Taste follows the nose, creamy but crisp and refreshing. I'm getting orange sherbert, grapefruit rind, vanilla and mango with mildly bitter pine resin throughout.

Moderately carbonated. Mid-heavy in body. Crisp and dry, but juicy. Sessionable yet full of flavor at 6.50%abv.

Overall a very, very good american IPA that hits all the right notes I look for.

Canned 7/30/15; drank 8/9/15 @ the Yarchives.

Poured from the can into a glass.

Semi-opaque orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a big white head; frothy lace.

Orange citrus, mild banana & faint booze heat notes in the nose.

Medium thin mouthfeel.

Mild orange citrus & banana flavors up front; sweet corn & a faint grapefruit bite on the finish. Sweet citrus settled on my lips over the course of the session. Not real flavorful but far from objectionable; a good IPA for beginners.

Brewed with 4 hop varieties per the website. Purchased a single can at Binnys.
6.5% ABV, 70 IBU.
Pours out to a lightly hazy sediment rich medium golden, forming a tall soapy white head with average retention and thin lacing. Carbonation is moderate, ~2.75 or so. The nose is fresh with piney hops. Thinking chinook and Columbus.Quite nice. Sitting on a nice malt backbone with some fruity yeast esters. Mouthfeel is lightly tart, finishing dry, with a medium body. The taste is quite piney as well, with hints of vanilla, apples and pears. Bitterness is medium firm, finishing dry with a lingering bitterness. No off flavors or aromas. Again, quite piney.

A nice piney IPA. A touch to bitter for my tastes but still quite nice.

Coming from San Diego, the Mecca of breweries with Stone leading the way......this beer is avg to barely above avg. Smell is malty and needs more citrus.....hops are mediocre at best and it finishes with a very thick carmel consistency. However, this beer has a lot of promise it just needs a bit of tweaking.

Poured from a 12oz can into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a dark amber slightly hazy with a thin white head.

Aroma is bubble gum/pine bomb.

Lots of pine on the taste, bubble gum sweetness lies just underneath.

Absolutely delicious. Such a beautiful drinker.

Featuring Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, and Amarillo hops; has lots of floral and citrus elements edged with earthy pine; brings a tongue-numbing bitterness along with its medium-light body and ample carbonation. Tremendously drinkable at 6.5% abv. Totally recommended drinking.

Great hop forward IPA, some flavors of citrus, yeast, pine. Pretty typical IPA but that isn't a bad thing when done well. Chicago is brewing some great beer and this falls into that category.

Pours a beautiful honey-amber glow, with a 1 finger head that remains stable. 20% transparent.

Cracker/pine on the nose. Some bread and spiciness trailing behind.

Flavor is slightly sickly caramel, followed by muted pine hops and liberal cracker, and quite a bit of squeezed hop juice. It grows sort of tiring after a little while.

Feel is pretty huge, has a creamy wave with sticky pine resins and a dry, parchy finish.

Overall, Anti-Hero isn't a beer I'll be visiting again.

Trying the beer on tap. First time I've had it. I would describe it as being on the dry and bitter side of the scale. Not too fruity or floral-ly. For my taste, not enough of those things (fruit and floral) that make an IPA exceptional. Fairly clean finish with a hint of yeast flavor, despite the fact that the brew is clear and yellow orange. Cheers!

8/6/16 canning date

A: Pours a clear gold. Very tall and fizzy light tan head. Quite good head retention with light fluffy lacing everywhere.

S: Nice candied citrus - orange and grapefruit. Yum.

T: Not so sweet on the taste though. Big blast of bitter orange and grapefruit again. Some pineapple too. Sweeter in the middle now where that candied fruit taste takes shape. Decent wave of bitterness into the finish but that sweet candied fruit follows it, balancing it nicely everywhere. Big floral lingering aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied, bitter and dry.

O: Great citrusy IPA. Big sweet and bitter citrus notes everywhere makes for a bold but nicely balanced IPA.

From the can that was filled on 07/06/2016. Sampled on August 25, 2016.

It pours amber-orange with decent clarity and a short-lived white head up top.

The aroma is a fruit bath with apple, peach, passion fruit, and other tropical esters. Low malt profile.

Medium body.

The taste, like the aroma, is very fruity and tropical but it almost feels artificial. I'm sure it's not but the fruitiness leads the way. A bitter finish.

Dark gold color. Clear. Frothy but small head. It eventually settles to a thin layer of minute bubbles. Good starting ring lace, streaks thereafter.

I smell a combination of earthiness and flowery hop cones.

Very smooth with a coating mouthfeel. There's the lightest of sweetness to the tongue. If one holds the liquid in the mouth, one might never know this is an IPA. The swallow, however, creates a strong bitter bite, leaving a long straight-up bitter flavor.

A - pours a dark orange with layers of head that cling with each sip.

S - Citrus hops, bread dough, malts, resin.

T - Hop forward - citrus, piney, resinous, balanced nicely with a malt bill that gives way to a hoppy finish.

O - Solid IPA and I will definitely try this again if I can get my hands on it.

Pours clear amber orange with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like red grapefruit, caramel, toffee, sweet cinnamon-esque spice, orange, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, melon, papaya, toasted graham crackery grain, with dank earthy grass and herbal resinous pine. Tastes like red grapefruit, mixed berries, caramel, dark toffee, orange citrus, melon, papaya, sweet spice, dark crackery malt, with bitter herbal resinous pine and dank earthy grass. Feels medium-light bodied, creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a real nice IPA.
