This is a nice and pleasantly malty IPA. I don't say that often. A sweet but not cloying taste on the palate but the hops ease in and bite you ate the end. A hoppy, almost sessionable IPA.

120z can about 3 weeks from canning, poured a clear yellow sunshine color with a white head that left behind small streaks of lacing. Smell was an all Florida citrus smell, very fresh with a lemon grass and baked bread smell, mouth feel had some pine hops that gave way to citrus and, floral hops a touch of bitterness in the finish, crisp and dry mouthfell with medium carbonation, very tasty and east to drink, liked this one.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a chalice. Canned on 05/19/2016.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Big two finger off white head which settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A juicy and earthy hop forward aroma with a scent of citrus and grass. Citrus hop scent of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, tangerine, and pineapple. Earthy and floral hop hints of grass and pine. Malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with some yeast. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and earthy hop driven taste with notes of citrus and grass. Citrus hop notes of orange peel, grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon along with pineapple. Also some earthy and floral hops with some grass and pine. Backing pale malt notes of caramel, cracker, and grains along with yeast. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, and smooth with a drying finish.

Overall: A pretty solid IPA. Nice citrus and earthy hop notes.

Pours crips orangeish with a frothy white head.

Smell is a nice blend of citrus, peach and pine.

Taste is remarkably balanced in spite of being very hop forward. Nice notes of grapefruit, peach and pine. Pretty bitter finish on the back end.

Smooth, drinkable, medium carbonation.

Nice IPA from Rev. Not my personal favorite, but a real solid IPA.

Darker amber.
Nice aroma. Some floral with a bit of citrus.
Taste nicely hoppy, some bitter fruit.
Finish with some dry resinous bitterness.
More west coast style IPA but solid beer

A classic offering from Revolution Brewing and is always a nice go to at the bar for party night. This IPA is well set off extremely hoppy citrus tasting IPA. Enough said, w/ your typical bitter aftertaste. Nothing that screams out at you, but a great beer to tip back w/ no sipping involved.

The first thing that comes to mind when I drink or see Anti-Hero, is this is a great pizza beer!

Look: A dark golden look to it, nothing special to report.

Smell: Hoppy smell.

Taste: This is a hop forward beer, as an IPA usually is for me. I enjoy it, but it's not something I enjoy all the time. It's a bit too hoppy for me to have everyday, which is why I enjoy their "Fist-City". As the beginning states, I enjoy this with a good, thick piece of Chicago style pizza.

Feel: As a beer should feel.

Overall, great beer! I recommend to pick a 6-pack up and try yourself. As always, enjoy responsibly!

I like Revolution Brewing because they are a great example of how brewing revives our cities and, of course, provide a much needed variety to America's taste buds.
So for that reason, I must like Anti-Hero because it is Revolution's cash cow that makes possible all their brews that I really admire (Eugene and variations) and all the other cool things they do with the second largest brewing plant in America's second city.

But, I do not like IPAs as a general rule... and Anti-Hero largely follows that rule.
It looks great, it smells interesting, its taste is OK, but its after-taste and mouthfeel didn't leave me alone. I had to go to the refrig and get salsa to eat with chips. After that, I could finish the beer. 70 IBU might blow some minds, but it just blows my taste buds. I hope I recover for tonight's meal.

Pours on the darker copper color side for an ipa. Smells like citrus, candy, and pine. Taste is super balanced.....the malt and slight sweetness do an excellent job of rounding out the hop profile. Medium body with medium heavy carbonation. Nothing spectacular.....but a very well rounded, super drinkable ipa.

Draught pour into pint glass with one finger head; Amber/ burnt orange color with moderate carbonation. No apparent smell or hint of hops which surprised me. Moderate bitterness of hops that dissipates rapidly yet subtlety lingers with no lacings that again surprised me given this is a four hop beer. Overall, I liked it and would recommend.

6.5% ABV - 12oz. can - canned 2/24/2016

L: A thick golden-brown color. Settled with a one-finger head that dissipated slowly, leaving behind trace amounts of foam.

S: Hops, overlaying an orangey-citrus and pine.

T: Strong bitter hops that linger into the aftertaste, but not in an overpowering sense. A bit of an earthy flavor along with the citrus accented in the smell.

F: Medium body, smooth. Very smooth finish.

O: Being newer to IPAs, this is one of the better IPAs I have tried. The smoothness and citrus-infused hoppy flavor definitely add to its allure. Crisp, drinkable, and easy to enjoy any time of year.

Revolution Brewing Company - Anti-Hero IPA. 6.5% ABV. 12oz can poured into a snifter. Canned on 2/1/16.

Look: Settles a hazy orange color, with lots of floaties. Head is about one finger sized white, bubbly foam, which settles into a bubbly ring.

Smell: Bready malt up front, along with some hops, and tons of sweet citrus fruit.

Feel: Medium bodied, with lots of lively carbonation, and easily drinkable.

Taste: Bready malt balanced by bitter hops, along with more of the sweet, juicy citrus fruits. Finishes about the same, malt and bitter hops.

Overall: Great balanced IPA, with lots of hop bitterness, but also malt sweetness, and tons of fruit profile. Finishes crisp and dry, with great drinkability.

Look: A standard but nice gold. Bubbles moderately large.
Smell: Almost bready but with a hint of citrus and pine.
Taste: Bitter with some of the citrus-pine of the smell, but a malty aftertaste I'm not in love with.
Feel: It's a good, chewy IPA
Overall: A nice IPA, but nothing amazing.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass. Beer comes out a dark yellow to light orange with some pretty decent clarity. Eggshell colored head with mostly small bubbles, good lacing.

Canned 11/05/2015 and I can't believe how fresh this beer has stayed, especially in the aroma department. I was fortunate enough to get this about 2 weeks after it was canned and it still smells exactly the same. Well rounded but the hops certainly do stand out. Sweet bready but the there's a nice grassy, floral, citrus, and pine hop aromas on the back end.

Taste is equally as excellent as the smell. Malt backbone easier to detect here, the wort by itself on this beer must taste awesome during the brewing process. Like hearty multigrain warm bread slightly buttered and coated with honey. After that there's nice flavors of citrus and pine at the back end, quite nice.

Mouthfeel is good. Full bodied with a nice lingering flavor. Moderate carbonation that slightly tickles the tongue. Beer starts of sweet, smooth in the middle with a bitter finish that's not quite dry, sort of damp though. Great drinkability and really just a good anytime beer. Could pair with a lot of different kinds of food varying from spicy to just regular snacks. Great in the winter or summer. Not gonna knock your socks off but certainly won't leave you hanging great balanced beer.

More mild than what I was expecting. There's a bit too much of a pine and bitterness for my tastes, but it's still pretty good. More drinkable than what my review might imply.

I stumbled upon this beer a few summers ago in Chicago and have been digging it ever since. For me it is a top 5 IPA, incredibly hoppy yet somehow light, too. If I lived in Chicago, this would always be my fallback IPA

12oz can poured into a snifter. Pours a light straw color, very clear with a 2 finger off white head. Nose is light hop - a clean pine and citrus. Wonderfully bright, clear nose. Flavor leads with the same bold hop presence. Very dry, with a finish that is perhaps a bit more malty than I find ideal. Mouth feel is light-medium. Overall, a strong, drinkable beer. A wonderful $10 6er.

L: nice golden brown. Honestly, doesn't look like much but it is not translucent at all. A very thick looking beer.
S: Very hoppy. A little citrus aroma and a slight oaky texture in the smell
T: very smooth at first. A little fizz but not too much.
F: amazingly smooth. Served in a chilled Belgian ale glass. The citrus is immediately tasted and hoes down easy
O: great beer. Only $3.95 at the bar. Worth it 100%

Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep good color with a short off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains a very good blend of floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of citrus and caramel. Then a strong floral hops bitterness comes in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and provides an excellent balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.

M: Very crisp and extremely smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, not too filling, good kick, excellent representation of style, this is definitely one of the better IPA’s that I’ve had.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden amber color with copper colored edges and a one finger white head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Decent retention with sporadic streaks and spots of soapy lacing left behind.

Earthy floral hop aroma with juicy buds and earthy resins countered by sweet tropical/citrus fruit and a sweet caramel malt backbone. Fresh cut grass, kind buds and sticky resins countered by some grapefruit, pineapple and citrus rind. Incredibly fresh and dank smelling. Sweet malt backbone with caramel, bread, biscuit and toffee. Great freh hop presence in the nose.

Full body with a blast of dry, earthy bitterness that's countered by sweet tropical fruit hop notes and a prominent caramel malt backbone. Dry and sticky wih earthy resins, grassy pine and spruce tip but the strong malt backbone comes in mid palate to balance things out. Tart grapefruit along with some orange zest and faint citrus. Caramel and toffee sweetness with biscuit and dark bread. Malt is a bit stronger than I prefer but it's nicely balanced and easy to drink with decent hop character.

A solid IPa but it's unremarkable and lacks unique character. In today's flooded IPA market, a standard IPA, that's even well made does not warrant repeat purchases.

Can was 3 weeks old, kept cold.

Aroma was generic hoppy. Little lemon, touch of pineapple...otherwise just a green hop aroma with modest malt profile.

Tastes like a blend of many hops that muddle any specific hop character. Faintly sweet malt character. Fairly significant bitterness on the finish.

Overall, it's fine. Well made enough but boring. Plenty of other better IPAs available that have character.

This one is a winner! A very smooth balanced beer, with plenty of hops, and no afterbite. My wife even like it, and she prefers Pale Ales.

Even has a cool can. I love the buds parachuting down.

I could drink this all day long, and I like variety.
So glad it is now available in Boston!

My first review, and it's of a new-to-me beer. Proud of myself for not reading others' comments first--not easy to do! Here goes:

Saw this beer for the first time today in MA. Can depicts a four-star General with a hop for a head and five other hops parachuting down from the heavens around a large clenched fist. So, are these disembodied heads falling from the sky? I'm confused, but it got me to buy a six-pack for $9.69. I'm a sucker for label/package artwork... would like to see it included as review criteria, actually.

This is a five-week-old can poured a bit aggressively into a chilled tall tulip 'IPA' glass.

L - Light, clear copper with a 3-finger head in this tall, skinny glass. Head slowly dissipates, leaving barely a trace.

N - Definitely floral, but I don't get much of the expected citrus. Green beans, bread, dewy moss. Mustiness develops as it warms.

T - Lots of bitter, but again, not very citrusy to me. I get crackers and flatness with nothing else really jumping to the forefront. A bit complex for my rookie palate, perhaps?

F - This is where the money is on this one... Medium to high carbonation (even after such an aggressive pour) with a very dry finish that tingles the gum line. Somewhat of an oily, resinous feel lingers.

O - An enjoyable brew, mostly for the mouth feel and the price is fair. I'd buy it again without a hitch, but I wouldn't go to great lengths to track it down or overpay for it.

The BA description is generous. Sure it's a nice beer, but for an IPA it has some trouble figuring out what it is. That would be ok if it were really well balanced, which its close to being. Solid, but don't go hunting for it.

Poured from a 12 oz can that is 5 weeks old. I get much more pine than citrus, but get a creaminess like the Vermont IPA's just not as strong. Definitely different but good.
