Had this on tap today at Revolution.

Served in a snifter, it had a scant amount of foam, just a patchy skim. The color was attractive, a deep ruby red when held to the light. As it was sipped, the foam disappeared completely.

Aroma was lightly smoky, malty with a tobacco element. Flavor had a solid dose of peaty smoke, dry and mildly bitter, not sweet. It had a fairly rich feel to it, but was very easy to drink. Lower carbonation. The abv wasn't detected at all.

Overall it was very nice, and i'd get it again when visiting the brewpub.

In tap into a snifter at the pub... This looks great, a dark molasses brown, glassy amber sheen to it. A light tan head about one finger, good retention and lacing. Looks great... The aroma is tons of peat, bark, smoke, scotch, a hint of salt, toffee. Very sharp but pretty good... The taste has way too much scotch and smoke, too liquorish for me, very hot... This is tastey but a sipper.

If you're a scotch ale fan try it, but I wouldn't have it again.

A: Served in a snifter with a good 1/2 inch of stiff foamy head billowing over the top of the glass. Darker brown in color with a reddish hue. Clear. Minimal lacing.

S: Smells of roasted malts, alcohol, and whiskey. A faint smokiness is also present.

T & M: Roasted malts, peat, caramel, with just a bit of smokiness. Dry. Very well balanced, though I did feel it was a little on the thin side. Low, but appropriate, carbonation.

D: Overall, a tasty beer with the lighter body making this one much easier to drink than most Scottish ales.

Served in a snifter.

A: deep dark brown appearance with touches of orange and red, thin collar of head, no retention

S: huge smokey profile with notes of smoked peat and oak with a sweet finish of caramel and molasses

T: just like the nose, but everything is bigger- the smoke is smokier, the sweetness is sweeter. A very enjoyable and well balance scotch ale. The alcohol is well hidden.

MF: medium to thick body with high carbonation, slightly sharp on the palate

D: another great beer from Revolution. Nice balance of sweetness and smokiness.

Served in a snifter at Revolution Brewing.

A- brew is a deep reddish brown color with 1 or 1.5 fingers of slightly tan head. the head vanishes somewhat quickly but so does the beer... =)

T- very balanced taste (not overly hoppy, not overly malty). the 8.7% alcohol is well hidden (no alcohol taste detected). similar tasting to Three Floyd's Robert The Bruce, this is a strong Scottish ale that will put you down for the count if you let it. Sooo tasty.

M- mouthfeel is good. not overly creamy and not too thin. a good medium mouthfeel.

Very drinkable, but watch yourself - these will sneak up on you if you get careless. It's dangerous because the beer is so damn delicious and easy to drink/enjoy, yet so very strong. Get some food to go with it. One of my favorite beers that they brew. Gitchoo some.
