Notes: Unblended sweet component Barleywine aged in a pair of sopping wet Great Lakes Distilling Rum barrels for three years. Familial expressions of malt sweetness and time resonate within a chasm beset by towering walls of barrel and spirit.

I really loved VSOJ so I had to try this one. It still taste likes a Barleywine with the flavor of caramel, toffee, and dried fruits. And the rum was not overpowering but it was definitely there. I think the rum gave it a certain sweetness that worked out nicely.

Had this on draft 11/20/21 @ the Taproom.

Black appearance.

Almost no head or lace.

Rum, oak & caramel notes in the nose.

Thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Rum, oak, caramel & sweet booze heat flavors.

Too sweet, but interesting.

Lotsa rum and oak - it’s like liking a rum barrel in the best way possible. Sweet, spicy, spiced rum notes. there is almost a fernet like character to the spices. Delicious.
