Looks good, smells good, feels good. I really thought the Very Mad Cow was a terrific beer. Although I'm rating this beer fairly well it doesn't tell the whole story. I guess at 7.9 % I could go either way on this but imo the alcohol is too noticeable. Some like that but I don't . . . Not for a non barrel aged stout. Good stuff but not great.

Poured into my Dogfish Head IPA glass.
A - Pours a very dark brown with a nice head.
S - The aroma is coffee, chocolate and malt.
T - The taste pretty much follows the aroma. Well balanced, not complex, just a straight forward milk stout.
M - The mouth feel is smooth, medium feel with low carbonation.
O - A very solid beer that I would drink again, but not special enough for me to seek out.

The beer pours a very dark brown with just over a half finger of creamy off white head. The head doesn't stick around particularly well. There is a stronger than normal bitterness in the taste, but there is enough sweetness to back it up. I'm getting a coffee note in the taste, but it also shows up quite nicely in the smell. As I drink the beer, the bitterness is a bit overwhelming. The mouthfeel is creamy with very smooth carbonation.

Pours a very dark brown, with almost no head. Looks like I just poured a Coke.
This is going to be sweet! Chocolate, cream, and burnt sugar greets the nose wonderfully.
Cream, chocolate, nuttiness perfectly balanced and very smooth.
Mouthfeel is smooth as butter.
Overall I dig it, is it my favorite? No. But pretty darn good. Go drink it!

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
Pours a deep black color with a creamy one-finger khaki colored head. Smells of milky lactose with a hint of vanilla, cocoa nibs and light coffee. Taste follows aroma with a sweet milk chocolate base, followed by notes of vanilla and coffee. Medium body and mouthfeel leads to a foamy finish. Very good, straight forward milk stout

Enjoyed from the 22 oz bottle in a Delirium snifter, this milk stout pours a deep brownish black with a quickly dissipating light tan head that leaves light spider webbed lacing. Nose of heavily roasted malts, chocolate, and black coffee. Flavors are up front a roasted stout lovers dream come true with deeply roasted malts, bitter coffee and dark chocolate mingling into a symposium of roasted goodness with a hair of sweet to the sides and rear and a lingering roasted malt aftertaste with a moderate sweetness. Very nice for a milk stout. Good solid carbonation helps keep this chewy brew quaffable. More sweetness from chocolate and milk sugars comes through with warmth. Excellent. Will be looking for Very Mad Cow soon.
Cheers!

Pint drawn off the beer engine at Revolution.
Review from notes.
Jet black with very fine line where it meets the tan foam. The head rose above the rim of the glass, shaping into irregular peaks. The foam had a nice creamy meringue texture to it, leaving spotty lace in the glass.
Creamy milk chocolate aroma, light and not especially sweet at all.
Similar to the nose, the flavor is dominant milk chocolate, smooth and luxurious in feel. Sweetness is mild and the finish is dry and slightly bitter with roast malts. On cask, the body feels light, creamy and very smooth, almost a chocolate milk texture (possibly from the lactose sugar commonly found in Milk Stouts). Easily sippable, a couple pints could be easily enjoyed, also a definite growler candidate. Glad that Mad Cow is in regular rotation at Revolution...

poured from tp at the brewpub. Poured into a snifter and pours a dark chocolate color with a nice chocolatey head.
well balanced with pungent aromas of malts, milk chocolate, and coffee beans. There is nice depth to it as well.
Full bodied with the feel being the real show. Very smooth and fairly classy as well with flavors of milk chocolate, malts and some roasted notes as well.
This is pretty damn good. It's been a while since it was on tap and I didn't fully remember it. Hopefully this sticks around a bit longer.
