poured from a 12oz can into a TG MD snifter. pours a dense, oily black with a small dark brown foam cap which recedes into a thin collar around the rim of the glass. aromas of bourbon, oak, chocolate and coconut cream. big barrel on the taste with a chocolate/coconut finish. the coconut really only shows its face at room temperature. even slightly cold, i get a touch of sweetness but it’s basically deth’s tar until it gets to a warmer temp. once it does, it’s not a coconut bomb any means but considering the big barrel component this beer has going on, i’m not really complaining as anything more would detract from the beautiful oak barrel integration. it has a medium-full mouthfeel with a coconut slick, smooth finish. interesting and solid deth tar variant. i was expecting a bit more coconut, however, this still excels as a barrel-aged coconut imperial stout.

Canned 7/13/22. Poured at 55°. Black with ruby edges; very fast fizzy reddish brown head which disappears (almost as fast as I can snap a pic) leaving no cap retention, ring nor lace; thick legs on swirl. Bourbon!, coconut and chocolate; bourbon/hot boozy exhale. Taste is bourbon, coconut, bittersweet dark chocolate; oaky vanilla; phenolic dark cherries middle; coconut and chocolate finish. Alcohol bite on tongue with generous mouth warmth from 15% abv; almost full body, silky smooth feel; not adjuncty; notwithstanding the fizzy head upon pour, light carbonation. Overall, an awesome BBA Imperial Stout with Coconut - tastes like a bourbon/coconut Mounds bar, with layers of barrel and base flavors…more please!

Pours a dark cola brown and settles in the glass as pure black with some mahogany brown on the edges and a sudsy mocha brown head that makes a hurried exit.

The nose is led by a bit of booze and oak, then a significant char note and rich dark chocolate and some coconut. This is gonna be great.

The taste has that toasty char and decadent dark chocolate up front, with the oak and roasty coconut flavors mid-palate before settling into a warming finish that is extraordinary.

The mouthfeel is full and creamy, and more than a little oily. I know that sounds weird, but in this case, it’s a good thing, because it adds to how drinkable this massive (15% ABV) beer is.

There are a number of breweries with great barrel programs. Rev is at the tippity top of that list, IMHO.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep black color with a dark tan head bubbling to the rim of the glass.

Smell - Big roasted malts were accompanied by sweet toasted coconut flakes.

Taste - in short, the viscousness of Deth was accompanied by dark chocolate and coconut. It was a 15% abv candy bar. The bitterness of the malts linger with the barrel, which left a trail of heat in the throat.

Mouthfeel - The thickness smothered the carbonation, that made the beer akin to drinking oil.

Overall - Deth is better with coconut.

Canned 7/13/22; drank 8/17/22 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big tan head; almost no lace.

Coconut, milk chocolate, oak & mild booze heat.

Creamy medium thick mouthfeel.

Coconut & bourbon heat flavors up front; milk chocolate & oak notes on the finish.

Nicely balanced & enjoyable. I'd have another!!

Solid matte black with a tan blanket settling to a creamy collar.

The barrel vanillin, heat and toasted coconut all push to the fore with aggressive glee. The toasted coconut pairs so well with the barrel char it's like a very caramelized pastry with a side of whiskey. It exhibits an impressive toastiness over a body of dark chocolate that expertly avoids any overwhelming sweetness, finishing stingingly semi-dry and fairly clean, otherwise just barely sticky, with tons of whiskey rays bursting through without scorching the palate.

Smooth and silky, touches of nougat and caramel develop mid-palate, almost emulating candy bar, yet I still must emphasize this all occurs without even a hint of cloying onslaught.

Oh good lord this is just absurd--how did they do it?!

On tap at the Revolution Brewing Taproom in Chicago, IL.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like toasted bittersweet coconut, dark chocolate, vanilla, and oak.

I think Café Deth works a little bit better from this same brewery, but this still really nice. As expected, given Revolution’s preference for barrel over adjunct, the coconut here is done well – it’s very present, but it doesn’t dominate here – as there’s graham cracker, dark fruit, oak, vanilla, and dark chocolate all over this one.

This is thick, creamy, and not all that boozy. It’s a slow sipper, but delicious.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if I never had a bad Revolution beer ever again.

Pours a thick, viscous black color. Deep and dark. Thin, weak mocha colored head forms on the beer for just a moment before dissipating leaving no residual head on the beer. Aroma has strong, rich notes of roasted malts, vanilla, coconut, maple syrup, oak and bourbon.

Taste follows the nose with notes of roasted malts, coconut, cinnamon, vanilla, maple syrup, bourbon and oak. This is unbelievably delicious. The coconut is so well utilized in this. It completely avoids the pitfall of tasting like suntan lotion, instead giving off this lovely toasted coconut character with right notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Feel is thick, viscous and smooth. Rich and decadent. Moderate carbonation. Warming, semi-dry finish.

Overall this might be one of the best Deep Woods variants Revolution has ever released. It slaps as the kids say. I do not even really like coconut in beers and this is unbelievably delicious - just goes to show that Revolution can pull off just about anything.

Brownish black pour with a finger of mocha foam that fizzles away quickly to a thin ring around the edges. Aroma is fudgy, charred brownie crust. Coconut sweetness is present, but doesn’t dominate. As it warms up, it becomes more noticeable but never hits you over the head. Oaky bourbon and cinnamon in the periphery.

Familiar Deths Tar flavors of fudgy bourbon soaked brownies, toasted marshmallow, lingering oak in the aftertaste. Coconut is an accent, not the focus. Boozy warming heat, medium bodied with ample carb. Overall it’s tasty, though not heavy on the coconut. Thanks to Chris for this one!

On tap. Tan head. Black color.

Let this one warm up. Gets much better. The coconut shows a lot more. Fudge, vanilla, oak, bourbon, charred barrel. Smooth, warming, silky. Dark dried fruits. Chocolate cake batter.
