This is one easy drinking stout! Roasted barley and rye provide a complex roasty aroma and flavor with underlying nutty notes, while Nelson Sauvin and Sonnet hops add just enough bitterness to perfectly achieve balance on the palate.

Might be the first non BA stout from Revolution Brewing that I have had.
I expected more bitterness from the rye, but that is based on a misconception of the term “rye”
More rye bread than rye whiskey sort of thing. So it is good, quite good actually, just not what I expected. The rye adds a little more complexity to the flavor, and Revolution knows its way around stouts.
Not sure if it will dethrone The Poet as my go to stout for whenever, but it might be an excellent option.

Just an intelligently crafted “normal” stout without a lot of adjuncts that is easy to drink and quite enjoyable. The rye gives an added flavor that is interesting. Overall this is well done.

Pours cola brown and settles black in the glass with mahogany brown colors on the edges, underneath a fluffy, sudsy light tan head that provides a nice bit of lacing.

The nose is indeed roasty as described by the brewery, and there’s a nice amount of rye bread as well, with a smidge of citrus from the Amarillo and Nugget hops. I like where this is heading.

The taste is all about the roasty char and bready rye flavors, complemented by the subtle citrus flavor. This is REALLY well done and oh so drinkable, especially with the medium, smooth mouthfeel.

This is now my winter “fridge stout.” So it is written, so it shall be done.

12 ounce can, filled JAN 10 2023 stamped on the bottom of the can. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like dark bread, rye bread, coffee, nuts, roasted malt and vanilla. The taste pretty much follows the aroma, but there's also the addition of some burnt/charred malt and dark chocolate flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall stout, worth trying if you like rye stouts, would like to try this one fresher sometime but the age hasn't seemed to hurt it either.

Matte black pour with a fat finger of tan foam, plenty of spotted lacing. Smell has the rye more airy above and leading the dark chocolate, char roasted grain and earth. Taste gives the rye a little bit of a kick with wet earth, dark chocolate, char and a hint of roast supporting. Medium bodied, dry, chewy and actually very clean all things considered. Great easy drinking stout for rye beer lovers (I'm one!)

Dark brown, not much scent. It's lighter in feel with a good amount of flavor: woody, dark chocolate, slightly hoppy. Very easy drinking stuff here, Doc

Looks like a freshly poured Coke. Nose gets a bit of rye a bit of chocolate. Taste is similar. A bit this, well carbonated, clean, dry finish. Overall, pretty good.

Appearance: Pours a completely dark color with a massive light tan head that floats, sits, and lingers. Pillows on top of the beer for a while. SRM of 24. (4.25)

Aroma: Strong aromas of cocoa, dark roasted black malts, rye, and grains, with some hints of charred black bread and coffee roast. A bit of earthiness and woodiness within. Aromas very similar to a Schwarzbier. (4.25)

Flavor: Strong flavors of cocoa, brown and roasted grains, rye bread, some coffee roast. Then some lactose cream and smooth malt flavor that fineish with a roasted grains flavor. Then a smooth and cream flavor finishes off the end. Minimal bitterness. (4.00)

Feel: medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Finishes smooth and creamy. (4.50)

Overall: An excellent Rye stout. Probably leans more toward a stout than a rye beer. Nice aromas of cocoa, roasted black malts and rye similar to a Schwarzbier. Then a bit more malts in the flavor. A touch of rye spice and coffee roast, but then creamy and smooth on the body that finishes like a stout and invites another sip. Blends a Schwarzbier, Rye beer, and stout. Didn't expect anything less from Revolution. Fantastic stout. (Rating: 4.18)

Poured from a twelve ounce can, the body is a dark brown. Small initial head and little lacing.

Aroma is light - just a touch of light rye malt.

Body provides a more pronounced malty char from the rye. There are notes of bitterness and chocolate that pair well with the rye malt.

Mouthfeel is average as is the carbonation. A nice dry finish.
