had this from tap. Pours a nice dark red color with about a 1in head.

malt based nose with tones of grains and spice tones. While its not the most complex nose, it works well

medium bodied with more of a pronounced spice flavor with good depth and a real good feel to back it up

a good dunkel. well balanced with a nice malty side to it.

Served in a curvy weizen glass at Revolution.

Murky reddish chestnut color, turbid with unfiltered yeast. Creamy dollop of light tan foam that rises above the rim of the glass momentarily. Retention is good, as the head is slow to fade, leaving a couple crescent rings of lace on the opposite side of the glass.

Obligatory banana and clove esters, some nuttiness and multigrain wholesomeness also. Somewhat subdued.

A light brown sugar sweetness at first fades into a nice wheaty/malty mix, nutty and lightly toasted, smooth and creamy feel, lightly fruity and mild phenolic clove spice buried in there. Banana surfaces again, blending well into the hearty malt/wheat flavors, leaving a nutty banana bread impression.

Overall it's a nice Dunkelweizen. Fairly subtle, but not without some complexity to it. Locally, Piece Dark & Curvy is some stiff competition, but Diggity holds its own.

A - Dark chestnut color with amber hues on the edges. Thick, creamy, frothy, tan head. Average retention leaving a nice thin layer of lace.

S - A good amount of cocoa with a fair amount of dark bready malt. Also has a fair amount of banana. Slight notes of dark fruit, particularly dark cherry. A little bit of brown sugar and spice. Not bad but nothing special.

T - Strong amount of cocoa. Banana comes out strong mid sip but subsides a bit on the finish. Peppery spice is stronger than the nose suggested, especially on the end. Cherry compliments the cocoa well but never gets too strong. Steady backbone of slightly sweet dark bread throughout.

M - Medium body with average carbonation. Quite smooth and creamy.

Notes: Pretty good dunkelweizen. Plenty of cocoa and a little on the sweet side. There is a nice spice balance though. Nothing really jumps out, but I enjoyed sipping on this.

Not on the menu, server insisted it's called Dunkelweizen but says they call it "Diggity" or "Diggity Dunkel" for fun. Expecting a different name when it shows up on the menu.

A - Red colored beer with a big white head that had nice retenion. Lots of sheeting and splotches left on the sides of the glass.

S - Lots of german malts, some cocoa smell, bit of banana.

T - Tastes like malts, minimal hops, little banana, slight clove. Very bready, slight toasty taste. Bit of a cocoa finish that lingers.

M - Medium bodied, filling carbonation.

O - Fairly tasty, a little boring, but pretty drinkable.

On-tap at Revolution. 5oz Mug Club taster glass.

A - A half-finger of white foam settles to a thick collar, leaving behind a few patches of bubbles on top and a few splotches of lace. Murky orange-brown body.

S - Grain, banana, some fruity esters and a slightly musky yeast note, as well as chocolate and cherry malt flavors.

T - Taste is fairly similar, wheat, bread, fruity esters, a bit of banana, and then the darker chocolate and roasty malts.

M - Grainy, medium body, medium-low carbonation, and a dry roasty finish.

D - It's a solid, but relatively unexceptional dunkelweizen. I'm not a huge fan of the flavor combination in this style - something about chocolate and banana just doesn't do it for me. That being said, this is well-executed and true to style.
