On-tap at the Kedzie taproom in a pint glass.

A - Tan foam settles to a thick collar, wisps, and minimal lacing. Chestnut transparent body that seems surprisingly dark for a table beer.

S - Belgian yeast, bready, grain, with some nebulous malt character and light honey. Sweeter than expected.

T - Again, it's quite bready with some mild phenolic yeast character. Lightly toasted grains, and less sweetness than the aroma. Not overly exciting, but pleasant nonetheless.

M - Surprisingly hearty, medium body, with pleasant carbonation, and a dry, crisp finish. Obviously there's no booze here, but this drinks more like a 4-5% beer.

D - A nice session option with lots of flavor for 2.3%. Not super complex, but something one could drink a few pints of with a meal. I probably wouldn't order this over Workingman Mild, except maybe as a change of pace.

On tap at the Kedzie brewery, served in a tapered imperial pint.
Review from written notes.

Dark copper color, fairly bright clarity, thin layer of foam that i'd hesitate to describe as a head. It fades quickly to an even thinner ring, with barely a trace of spotty lacing around the edges of the glass.

Mild aroma of wet grains, toasted husks, and a trace of dried fruit.

Flavor is similarly basic and grainy, with a twang of dried fruit leather leaning towards apricot, unsweetened and a bit mealy. Thin and light bodied, a little one dimensional, even with food. Tafelbier isn't a foreign concept, but there are better low abv table beers out there, see Dupont Avril.
