Brewed by:
Revolution Brewing
Illinois, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.30%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
An IPA brewed in collaboration with Half Acre, Three Floyds, and Bluejacket for the 2013 Craft Brewers Conference. This brew proves that multiple parties can indeed create something beautifully balanced. Each brewery provided their own hops and we dry-hopped it twice with hops from Hop Head Farms. Our Brewmaster Jim Cibak calls this a "deceptively drinkable hoppy ale" with flavors and aromas of spring flowers, a smorgasbord of fresh citrus, and a faint hint of mint.

Had a full pint of this at Churchkey during the Craft Beer Conference 2013.

A: Poured a crystal clear orange color with a pretty substantial frothy head. No real chill haze, this was clear as a bell.

S: Smelled like Nugget Nectar only a bit more grainy. The hops were present but not explosive like I was predicting.

T: I didn't get much of the FFF hop profile, as a matter of fact, I didn't get any. This was a bit heavy handed on the sugar end but not too offensive, with a bit of candy-coated booze.

M: The carbonation bill was fine, overall the sugar level started to grow on me, and the lacing was substantial.

O: I would definitely put this in the good category, but the idea of the beer was much better than the end product. To come full circle, this was basically Nugget Nectar a little past its prime.

Draft at Half Acre.

Bright gold orange, compact layer of foam that rises above the rim of the glass slightly. Clarity is good, and there's ample foam on the surface for the duration of the glass.

Pungent hoppy aroma, fresh and resiny, citrus zest dominates.

Flavor is more bold hoppiness, green hop resin and grapefruit, more citrus. Light and drinkable, easy feel, sessionable for sure. The glass was gone pretty fast. Something i'd drink again anytime.

On-tap at the Kedzie Taproom. Served in a mug.

A - Creamy white foam settles to a solid cap, leaving behind specks of lace. Transparent golden body.

S - Zesty grapefruit and light pine dominate, with a moderately sweet sugar cookie malt backbone. A tad understated, but perhaps this was served too cold. Pretty nice, but somewhat old school in the hop profile.

T - Taste is quite similar to the aroma, with a mix of citrus rind, orange zest and flesh, a touch of pine, and a sugar cookie malt backdrop. Surprisingly low bitterness makes this a pretty quick drink.

M - Smooth, medium body, with pleasant active and moderate carbonation. Juicy, resinous and oily in the finish. No perceptible alcohol.

D - A nice easy-drinking IPA that would be easy to drink in large quantities. I'm a tiny bit disappointed considering the pedigree involved, but it's still a pretty nice brew.
