Sample poured at the Kedzie brewery on Saturday, 6 September 2014.

Pours clear golden with a small white head. Not much carbonation. Smell is nice, grassy, a little spicy, but muted.

Taste is honey and flowers and bitter pine -- tends toward sweet.

Mouthfeel is medium and slick. Overall, this is a quite tasty beer.

Sampled from a 22oz bottle I picked up during a recent visit to Chicago.

Golden and quite clear with a smallish head of large bubbles. Some lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit. Flavor follows with some citrus added in. There's much more hop flavor than bitterness. Nice variety. Slightly thin with a moderately high carbonation.

Very nice!

Bottled April 3rd, 2014

Appearance: Golden color with darker accents of orange. Finger of bubbly head on the pour which settled in to a layer across the top while drinking. Average amount of active carbonation for the style.

Smell: Soft fruits on the front with accents of kiwi, mango, pineapple, tangerines, and mangos. A potent piney opens up and really plays well off the bright fruit hop tones. There are some grassier hop notes as well. The airy fruity softness really rides through and carries the aroma. Some caramel malt hints keep the hops grounded.

Taste: Bright tropical fruits really pop on the front. Some heavier hop notes of saturated oranges shine through but the notes of pineapple, grapefruit, kiwi, citrus, and mangos. Balanced, rounded pine really adds some very welcome bitterness on the body. The finish is a very complex mixture of bright fruits, caramel malt sweetness, with some lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation really stands out, adding a pleasant brightness with supreme drinkability. Great balance on the mouthfeel of bitterness and sweetness.

Overall: Man a well craft Galaxy IPA is really tough to beat. This has the layers and hop profile of a much bigger beer. Revolution has a solid handle on all their IPAs and this one certainly has stood out for me. 6 pack cans soon.

Can > Tulip Glass

A - Slightly hazed gold with a nice dense frothy white head, medium lacing
S - Lovely aroma, pine, white grape, floral, melon, citrus peel light pale malt, slightly dank grassiness, but it could be a little more pronounced.
T - Really nice floral and citrus tones, grape, pine, cracker malt, some melon, but its all kinda tuned down unfortunately, though still very tasty.
M - This is probably my favorite part about this, its so crisp and refreshing, a little lingering bitterness, but very mild and balanced in body.
O - Great single hop galaxy IPA, good flavor and aroma, excellent crisp and bright feel, now that its in cans is just about the best thing ever.

Poured from 22oz. bomber.

Appearance: Deep golden hue with sheen. Can't really see through. Carbonation bubbles persist. Lacing dissipates.

Smell: Wow! So juicy. Pineapple. Tangerines. Like a fruit basket. Incredibly aromatic.

Taste/Overall: Awesome bottle art. Enjoyable. the taste is drier. A bit bitter. I thought it was a good deal for $5.99 a bomber. I honestly can't say I'd regularly buy this over the regular Anti-Hero at $9.99 a sixer, though. I'm glad I tried it. Gotta love them galaxy hops! If you're a fan, Id' mos def recommend this and "8 bit" by Talltree

A dark yellow hue, thin head.

This is a real treat. Sweet lemons flowing into a pineapple bubblegum.

A mellow sweetness, with a fantastic citrus bitter aftertaste. A slight grassy herbalism hides in the background.

Small sharp bubbles move those hop oils along.

An excellent showcase of what distinct hop flavor can be.

Had on draft at Scion Dupont in a pint glass on 5/8/14

A-Pours clear deep golden, fluffy white 1 finger head. Pretty good lacing

S-Nose is super fruity, tangerine, roses and a bit of grassy notes.

T-great taste of nectarine resinous hops, light caramel malts and some honey sweetness.

M-Mouthfeel has a medium bodied, some stickiness, lingering finish. Well balanced and carbonated.

O-Overall I was really glad to get the chance to have this.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy deep gold color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big mango, tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, honey, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt balance; with good strength. Taste of big mango, tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, honey, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of mango, tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, floral, grass, honey, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops with moderate pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

A very solid beer but not a stunner. Looks gorgeous. Rather light in color, almost lager-like. I can barely get a scent though - is it a bit past its prime? The mouthfeel is light but highly carbonated - the feel of big summer guzzler. The taste is fine but somewhat muted. A light hoppy beer but in a blind taste test I might call it a pale ale.

Nice golden color. Very fine head that dissipates and leaves light lacing along the edges of the glass. Smell is subtle but nice lemon and citrus is prominent. Nicely bitter but with a malty backbone of sweetness offsetting it. Finishes long and leaves me wanting another sip. Good job Revolution!!!!

A: shiny muted orange body, finger white head,
stunning lacing display

S: big lemon grass/peel, biscuit malt

T: lemon peel, solid biscuit malt middle,
long sticky bitter grassy finish

M: med/heavy body, sticky/oily mouth

O: Mighty fine defender of the hop universe!
Have always enjoyed when breweries do
intense single hop, truly lets your palate
explore each other. Harmony of multiple
hops is amazing too, but so complex.

Medium orange color with a decent white fluffy head. Some sticky lacing clinger to the glass.

Grapefruit, sweet orange, touch of caramel.

Taste follows the nose. Nice level of bitterness, sweet orange balances. Simple but works well.

Moderate carbonation moves this along nicely. Crushable.

Well done. Another "hero" from Revolution that is tasty, simple and easy drinking. Recommended.

Pours a crystal clear orange with no haziness. Less than overwhelming nose with hints of orange and pine. Very refreshing taste, smooth and refreshing. Would be a very nice summer IPA as seems best served extremely cold and you could easily put down several of these. Overall quite pleased with this offering from revolution.

Revolution Galaxy Hero

Galaxy Hero

Poured into 10oz snifter

A: Orange to yellow . . . Looks like the sunset on the ocean.

S: I'm assuming galaxy hops along with honey, oranges, Clementines and tangerines.

T: Fantastic ! What Galaxy Hero really reminds me of is a toned down Hop Juju.

M: Crisp and clean.

O: Another amazing ipa from Revolution. I think these guys brew some of the best around.
I also enjoy how they seem to have a different ipa for every hop variety out there.

22oz Bomber
Four Seasons Liquors - Morris, IL

The second, and most recent, release of Galaxy Hero is crystal clear and 24kt golden with an orange hue along the sides of the glass. The foam is pure white and soapy on the crown but dense along the glass. Puffy, thick lacing gets left glued to the glass after each drink. This is a damn fine looking IPA.

There is no mistaking the incredibly potent smell of freshly peeled tangerine. A touch of overripe lactic pineapple follows with other miscellaneous tropical fruits. Undercurrents of soft pine and resin bring some depth. Freshly squeezed grapefruit juice also has it's fingerprints all over this IPA. A little sugar cookie malt is present but barely noticeable with the generous hopping. Juicy!

Again, we are greeted immediately with juicy tangerines, mouthwatering in fact. Pineapple and sweet tropicals run through mid-palate. There is some of that resinous quality in the background and lingering on the swallow along with pithy grapefruit. The malt base is more graham cracker than sugar cookie like the nose led me to believe. Excellent!

The body is just shy of moderate with an effervescence upfront that segues into velvet on the swallow. The finish eventually dries up and the lingering bitterness never surpasses moderate. Drinkability is off the charts.

Straight up fruit juicy. The tangerine is pure like in no beer I've ever had. The smell is saliva inducing, the flavor juicy ripe, and the drinkability is off the charts. I bought a couple bottles last year and drank it on tap a few times but don't remember it being near this vibrant, it is only 3 days from release I suppose. Buy it and drink it!

Pours a bright golden yellow with a finger of white foam.

Very citrusy in aroma with some light grassiness.

Grassy and citrusy bitter hop resins, light toasted grain sweetness.

Light-bodied, medium carbonation, crisp, balanced.

Overall, another damn solid beer from RevBrew.

22 oz bottle, no bottled-on date, poured into a tulip glass.

A- Pours a slightly hazy golden color, topped with an inch of white head, leaves nice lacing.

S- Huge blast of tropical fruit, herbal, leafy hops, some malty sweetness.

T- Wow. Loads of tropical fruit right up front again, but there's a huge, very distinct tangerine flavor here that I wasn't picking up on as much in the aroma. Some slightly piney, herbal bitterness, a bit of caramel malt.

M- Medium-bodied, smooth feel, nice carbonation.

O- This is awesome stuff, I'm a big fan of the hops from this region right now, and the tangerine and fruit flavors in this beer are excellent. If I could get a six-pack of this I would be really, really happy.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a snifter
Reviewed from notes taken from whenever. Audit me. See if I care.

A: Pours a clear, golden color. There is an off-white head which fades quickly to a spotty cap.

S: A sharp citrus/pine aroma with some herbal notes. Orange peel and a hint of caramel.

T: Pine is potent but not as sharp as in the aroma. Citrus is present but subdued and joined by a little bit of peach. The finish is a lingering herbal flavor. Mild alcohol flavor as the drink warms in the glass.

M: Medium bodied with sharp, foamy carbonation.

O: Great beer. Bitter, fruity, crisp. A step up from the regular Anti-hero.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a transparent golden with a slight hazy; nice fluffy white head that leaves good lacing and retention. The aromas have a nice amount of sweet mango, melon, pineapple, orange peel, lemon zest. There's a touch of garlic/onion, but barely. Not much malt detected, although there are subtle hints of caramel malt. The flavors are very crisp. Lots of grapefruit, lemon, and tons of pine needles. The flavors are good, but they're one dimensional and doesn't have a whole lot of depth, in my opinion. This one is definitely on the drier side. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium-bodied and has active carbonation. The alcohol goes unnoticed and it's very refreshing. It becomes tastier the more you drink it.

This is a really nice IPA. It's right there with Anti-Hero. This is crisp and refreshing. Very fun to drink. Well done.

Bought from Binnys in Des Plaines.

The look is nice, a solid orange with a decent head and some lacing, deeper dark center in th core of the beer.

The smell is interesting, it has a taffy like malt edge mixed with more of a fruity and herbal edge, no pine or citrus rind to speak of, more of an English style hop presence that I have noticed from the galaxy hop variety, it's nice and warmer than a normal American made ipa.

The taste follows suit, it has a very earthy herbal slightly bitter edge to it with some some sweeter malt notes to it that have a little bit of alcohol sweetness to it somehow, even at the semi low abv. It has some tangerine flavor to it too after a minute, it's more of a sweet tangerine instead of a harsh citrus blast. Mouthfeel is solid, good carbonation proper body.

A nice flavor, but I prefer the American bitter hop varietal hoppy beers better for my palate, but this is very intresting and unique.

A great extra from DuoBob, props! Pours clear as a bell with that classic orange-amber hue, 1 finger of off white foam leaves impressive lacing in the Lawson's snifter.

Aroma is hop forward: clementines and pine needles, malt virtually undetectable. Galaxy-Hero has a crisp, juicy nose, mouthwatering.

Flavors mirror the nose as the juicy hops are front and center, malt strictly there for support and balance. The clementine juiciness is nicely carbonated, and the pine needle qualities play out in the long and enjoyable bitter finish. Very crisp and snappy flavors from the well sourced Galaxy hops. Alcohol is barely noticeable, nicely done for 6.6% abv.

Mouthfeel is a light medium, dry finish, bitterness rests on the back of the palate.

This an easy drinking tropical fruit blast of an IPA, and should hit all the right notes for those that prefer a big juicy hop infusion over malt heavy IPAs. Great example of the style, and highly recommended.

Poured from a bomber into a 50W Tulip glass

A: Pours a semi-translucent, bright orange body with a frothy white head. Sticky lacing clings to the glass for a decent amount of time.

S: Loads of pine and citrus hops in the nose.

T: Follows the nose. Very hop dominant, reminiscent of a solid west coast IPA, with not a ton of malt backbone. Lots of grapefruit bitterness. Lemon.

M: Oily. Medium body. High carbonation. A good mix of creamy, yet still prickly. Refreshing.

O: Not overly complex, but very well-done. Clean and very crisp. Revolution is really stepping their game up. This was a really solid brew. Excited to try the crystal hero next.

(Served in a long stemmed tulip)
A- This beer pours a clear apricot body with a thin snow white head that sticks to the glass in thin sheets of white film. There is a sluggish micro carbonation working its way to the surface.

S- The green herbal hops have a juicy quality to the with some unripe citrus in the finish. The full aroma can be smelled even during the pour.

T- The full woody green hops have a dark papery quality to them with a pungency in the finish. There is an unripe lemon taste in the finish with some sweet malt popping through as it opens. The mellow pungency is full as it lingers in the aftertaste. As the beer opens up there is a wintergreen flavor in the finish of the hops.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a tight fizz that compliments the hop finish very nicely.

O- This beer has some nice full hop character with an interesting depth that is more woody dark unripe fruit and wintergreen. There was good malt support and the pungency finished in nicely without much bitterness.

A: pours amber in color with a 2 finger milky white head. Head has good retention some nice lacing.

S: lots of nice fruity hop aromas going on here. Notes of tangerine and guava. Very tropical. Mangos and pineapple follow with undertones of malt.

T: a little malt upfront and then the hops hit. Lots of bitterness on the palate. Citrus on the exhale with some grass laced in between.

M: moderate carbonation. Nice oily feel from the hops lets the bitterness stay on the palate for a good amount of time.

O: galaxy hops give lost of nice tropical fruit aromas. Good bitterness and some of the tropical flavors pull through on the exhale. Solid ipa from a solid brewery.
