Thanks to fiver29, who should have a much higher number to reflect his status as a Cy Young-level trader. He's sent me my first real tastes of Revolution, which I've been looking forward to. 22 oz. bomber split with my wife on a normally alcohol-free Sunday night. But hey, no work tomorrow! Yeeeehaaa!

Pour is filtered orange-red, mostly clear, like a sunbeam stuck in the glass. The sunbeam smells like good hops: orange, or mango, or something that keeps morphing into a tropical mixed-use orchard with a lot of squashed fruit. Plus an underlying sweetness that doesn't distract from the hops; kind of like a good bra. I like it.

Galaxy-Hero makes me want get up & raise a fist in the air: viva la Revolution! The same fruit bushel from the nose is embracing my palate vigorously. The bitterness comes close behind, & I can feel it right between my two front teeth, flaying the skin on the top of my mouth. The sting is good. The finish is a mild sweetness, florals, a blade or two of grassiness. Lovely slickness that's simultaneously drying, easy to drink.

Very good that tips over into excellent, this is easy to drink, tasty, complex, & bitter. What more would you want? Too many breweries are popping up with half-assed IPAs. None of that going on here. Lovely beer.

A solid IPA, with lovely complex grapefruit orange tangerine citrus taste. Very drinkable. Carbonation is right there. Bg IBU but not a palate eraser. Bottle from 20 West Side Wine and Spirits. Slightly orange colour, good retained head. Some bubblegum.

horny cloudy orange hey late so bring of a head

the smell is classic galaxy they bright citrus nose anytime grass

the flavors are but mine for IPA just a light bit of Brady caramel malt touch of Citrus Heights but lacking in the bitterness I would expect in the style.

the mouth feels a bit send just a touch of resume on file.

overall it's a pretty decent night PA nice feature of the tremendous galaxy house could use just a touch more to really be excellent.

T - Leafy, grassy hops and some more subtle melon.

D - Good carbonation with a medium body.

O - Solid - middle of the road IPA. Smooth and no bitterness.

This beer is brewed for the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. It's an IPA with Galaxy and Zythos hops. This sample was poured into a pint glass.

A: Bright orange, clear liquid with a sizable white head with good retention. The carbonation is quite lively.

S: Smell is very pungent orange citrus and pine....very strong hop smell. Nice.

T: Taste is very creme, mango, papaya, grapefruit. There's also a sharp pine and raw leafy hop presence, especially near the end. Bitterness is pretty much non-existent until the end, but even then it's not a very strong bitterness. It's fairly dry, but there's a nice abundance of citrus and raw hop flavors.

Malt is there, but it's not too intruding....a hop profile with Galaxy and Zythos doesn't really need much malt backup.

M: Medium body, messaging carbonation, and slightly creamy. Very drinkable and not offensive at all.

O: One of the better IPAs I've had in awhile. Unfortunately, it's just a one-time deal. Shame, because I would buy this stuff a lot. As others have noted, it's sort of similar to a Zombie Dust or even a Sculpin, but a bit more rough around the edges.

Still, this is an excellent IPA.

Poured from 22oz bomber into imperial pint glass with a nice 2 inch head color is a nice golden delicious looking brew.

Aroma is fantastic I absolutely love it (galaxy hop!?!) It’s a lovely floral and citrus smell.

Mouthfeel is medium carb and body is medium-light

Taste is a bit of piney, resinous hops with a crisp, slightly bitter finish that lingers for a bit.

Overall this is a solid IPA. The aroma really had my hopes up but taste didn’t match, but still really enjoying it. Not sure id buy another bomber as a beer really needs to be outstanding to warrant buying at bomber price

Thanks to Robbie and Adam for this one! Bottled on 04/02/13 and poured in to snifter.

A - Translucent medium yellow with one finger of white head.

S - Mix of pine, orange rind, mango and pineapple with sweet honey in the background.

T - Moderate bitterness for the style with peach, mango, pineapple and pine flavours. A noticeable honey/caramel malt sweetness provides some balance.

M -Medium body. Sticky and oily. Light to moderate carbonation.

a beautiful clean golden/copper pour, lots of visible carbonation and 2 fingers of fluffy white head which gave off a tremendous amount of lacing. smells of fresh cut grass, grapefruit, pine, and bread. a delicious bready and refreshing beer with a nice burst of grapefruit and grassy hops. nicely balanced bitterness through the glass. a very refreshing beer for the summer time, and perfect for hoppy beer lovers. it's in no way a hop bomb, but it is very nicely done as far as ipa style goes. medium body with medium carbonation, very easy drinking and refreshing.

this is my first brew from revolution and i'm definitely enjoying it. i'd like to try some more of their stuff.

T - strong citrus flavor, strong hop flavor. not bitter at all. kinda reminds me of 3F zombie dust

M - medium carbonation, goes down easy

O - Very good beer, must try this if you enjoy IPAs

This is actually my second bottle of this fine beer. Shared the first one with a good friend and decided that it was so good I'd like to have another for myself. Revolution makes some interesting stuff and I think this one is really a bit more of a simple beer for them, but turned out really well.

Smell (4.00) – So so fruity. Like sticking my nose in a pineapple. In honesty, a tad overpowering and the pineapple is covering everything else up. Slight hints of caramel but I can't be sure since I seem to be taking a trip to the Bahamas.

Appearance (4.50) – Honey with carbonation rising to the top. Pours with a 2 finger head of large fluffy bubbles. Fades quickly. Really beautiful beer - the color

Taste (4.25) – Relieved that it doesn't taste like fruit punch. Pine notes that aren't that intense but still very forward in the taste. Some definite sweetness but nothing too much. The hops aren't all that bitter but still give hopheads like myself the satisfaction we're looking for. The hops linger around for quite a while and are the last aspect to fade. The taste otherwise doesn't change that much over time.

Mouthfeel (4.50)– Light, crisp, and smooth. Carbonation levels are great. Does not leave lips sticky.

Overall (4.50) – Really solid IPA. Love the galaxy hop content in this. Super refreshing and tasty. Not the most complex beer on the market, but definitely one of my favorites from Revolution.

A: Briliant lifesavers orange with bright white head that has no retention. No Haze

S: A tornado of melon, grapes and tropical berries. A cattyness lurkes in the background along with tinge of doughy malt aroma.

T: Like a punch in the mouth, bitter from beginning to end. Much more pine and dank resein flavors then the aroma would indicate. As your pallet adjusts melon is more noticable and a bready malt character peaks its head. No alcohol detected. Becomes kind of grassy after a few more sips

M: Crisp with moderate carbonation, (nice on a warm spring day) no astringancy at all. light body.

O: This likley won't make any top IPA lists, but I'd sure buy it again. Top notch aroma, great taste, refreshing, cool art work... pick this up if your in Chi

22oz into Unibroue Tulip

A: All beer is beautiful

S: All the fruityness you'd expect in the smell given the galaxy hops. Not as much as I'd hoped for but still great.

T: Surprisingly enough, the closest beer I'd liken this to is Zombie Dust, and thats a huge compliment. All that tropical fruit tastes, albeit a bit less pronounced than in the dust.

M: Maybe a bit more carbonated than I'd have liked.

O: Like I said earlier, I felt this was pretty analogous to Zombie Dust. Not quite as good, and at $8 a bomber its a lot pricier, but not many are blessed with a reliable source of ZD. This beer will certainly satisfy my ZD cravings, at least until the shelves are cleared of this.

Awesome label art here, can't wait to try it. Appearance is a clear golden, identical to Anti Hero with layer of white head and decent lacing. The nose is more lemony than Anti Hero with less pine and bitterness. The malt profile comes through pretty strong with dry bread and graham cracker. The nose isn't as aromatic as its counterpart which makes it slightly less appealing. The taste is light on bitterness and heavy on fruity galaxy hops. It seems as if the hop schedule for Anti Hero just works better for the grain bill as the Galaxy just seems to lack depth in this instance. Still an enjoyable and drinkable IPA. Moderate body with appropriate carbonation. Overall, tasty, just not as good as Anti-Hero.

650 mL poured into a Teku snifter.

Appearance - Golden yellow. Clear. Small white head. Retains well.

Smell - Nice citrus hop. Grapefruit. Orange. A little bit of grain.

Taste - Less impressive. More sweetness comes through. More grapefruit than orange hop. Grain very prominent. Medium bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation. Drinks easily.

Overall - Better aroma than taste. Smells like a double but tastes like a single IPA.

Pours a clear rich golden color with a nice white head. Has sporadic carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom. Smells of fresh citrus and passion fruit. Has a underlying hoppiness to it as well. Really pleasant fresh aroma! The taste is that of a typical American IPA. Does have a little citrus fruitiness to it and has a good malty feel. Hops are prevalent and leave a nice lingering bitter finish. Overall this galaxy hero was no superman or batman but a solid green lantern! I'd reccomend it for sure, not the best IPA but a solid choice!

Served in a Local Option cervoise.

The dude on the label kinda looks like he would fit well as a Tick villain... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-cream-white foam. The nose comprises ruby red grapefruit zest, blood orange zest, peach (or maybe it's apricot...), very mild caramel, and light pine resin. The taste brings in more of the same, though now the pine is swinging around some extra heft, and the fruits are all toned-down a bit. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda sticky and drying-ish finish. Overall, a very nice IPA, one that showcases the Galaxy varietal pretty well.

22oz bottle from Binny's Beverage Depot (Chicago, IL). 7.99. No bottle date. Served in a Three Floyds teku.

Pours deep gold with about two fingers of pillowy pale head that shrinks to a thin layer and leaves large sheets of lace.

Smells citrusy and floral. Grapefruit, mango, peach and flowers.

The taste delivers on the nose. Mango, peach, grapefruit, rind, pine, flower petals, dried biscuit, faint caramel, pepper and grass.

Medium body, slightly oily with moderate carbonation. Only mildly bitter floral finish with the malts showing up a little more towards the end.

A solid, if not outstanding, IPA. It has some nice citrus notes but falls a bit short on both bitterness and malts for my tastes. Still, I'd drink it again and it went down smoothly enough that I had no problem finishing the bomber myself.

My friend Chris shared this one, and it was split three ways. Thanks Chris! Bottled on date of 4/2/13, so it's just about three weeks old. Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into my 7venth Sun tulip glass.

A - Pours a clear goldenrod color, with a full two fingers of head. After a couple minutes in the glass, it fizzles away to a small cap of foam. Not a whole lot of lacing.

S - Sweet & tropical fruits abound, such as pineapple juice. A bit of mango or fruit cocktail syrup as well. This smells incredibly fresh & juicy.

T - A nice tropical character, with some lemony sweetness as well. A bit of grassy or piney hop character to add some nice complexity. A nice amount of bitterness at the back end after the sweetness is left behind.

M - Medium-bodied and a nice amount of carbonation. Leaves an appealing sticky residue on the lips and inside of the mouth.

O - I think I may like the regular Anti-Hero a little better, but this is still a great beer. The galaxy hops really shine through, but I think it may be to the detriment of the beer's balance.

A: A surprisingly clear deep yellow-amber in color. Forms a sizable, fluffy, white head that sticks around for a while. Good retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Aroma is quite pleasant. Given that this is hopped with Galaxy, it is unsurprisingly citrus forward, with lots of sweet orange notes. Tangerine and clementine. A slight hint of floral.

T: The taste is similar, but the sweetness is not as pronounced. Orange, orange pith, and even a touch of lemon. The finish is herbal, bordering on medicinal.

M: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. The bitterness is mild; quite restrained actually, but there is an unpleasant oily, resiny quality to the beer that only develops a good minute or so after the swallow.

O: Overall, this is a very nice beer. I'm a fan of Galaxy hops and this beer showcases them nicely.

Drank from a 22 oz bomber.

A: Light amber color, with a small amount of head - maybe a 1/2 inch of head. The lacing is perfect, very nicely carbonated beer. Everything you would want an American IPA to look like.

S: Not a strong aroma. It is lightly hopped, but doesn't have any form of citrus aromas really. Light malt smell also present - maybe caramel malt?

T: A very full-bodied hop flavor - great carbonation. Light citrus flavor - grapefruit specifically. The beer tastes great. It is interesting though, that the beer doesn't have any sort of citrus aroma, but has a nice citrus flavor.

M: The beer is smooth, nicely carbonated and very very drinkable. A great ipa.

O: This is a great IPA. I love the flavor and it is better than Anti-Hero from Revolution. The hoppy aroma mixed with the citrusy flavor makes for a very nice strong IPA.

Glowing bright sunny orange, frothy with a compact layer of foam on the surface, delicate lace adheres to the glass. Coverage is pretty good, settles to a broken skim halfway through.

Citrusy grapefruit pith, floral hop oils, pungent hoppiness though slightly restrained.

Bittersweet hoppiness, citrus zest and greenery, orange sweetness flashes by, with lingering resiny hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with ample carbonation. Tasty and very drinkable.

Bottle thanks to scalzo!

Ruby gold body with some nice beading, produces a finger+ off-white head that leaves behind layers of lace.

Nose is tropical and citric... dense... bittersweet...

Oranges and peaches, tame bitterness, semisweet. I like. This one is gonna go down quick.

Tulip glass

A: Crystal clear golden yellow/orange color. Full finger of fluffy bright white head. Good carbonation. Sticky lacing bits on the glass.

S: Big fruity hop nose. Big grapefruit. Overripe peach. Mango. Light malt bill.

T: Nice sharp astringency bitterness on tip of tongue. Taste those nice fruity hops: peach and mango and grapefruit. Nice balance of sweet malts. Dry finish.

M: Medium bodied.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a New Belgium globe glass.

A- pours a dark caramel with a 2 finger off-white head. Trails, blotches and big swaths of lacing remain on the glass.

S- caramel, honey, big juicy citrus (pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit) and some light spice and pine.

T- caramel, nice grapefruit and melon citrus notes, light toast, light spice, bitter citrus rind and pine.

M- medium body and carbonation. Slick with some creaminess.

O- very nice ipa. I would drink this all day if they canned it like regular AH, but $8/bomber for a ipa is steep to drink often.

Just saying this upfront, I hope this is a yearly release. This review would be difficult to complete without comparing to anti hero.

A - the appearance is a golden color much lighter than the anti hero.

S - smells lighter in the citrus fruits. Picking up lemon, possibly a floral accent. The pine is very prevelant as well

T - Tongue follows the scent. Finished all 22 ounces of this bomber and the further I got into the beer the more I liked it. A citrus that doesn't overpower you like so many IPA/DIPA brews lately. This is a perfect spring time brew. Juicy and Refreshing is how I would describe it.

M - An oily beer that sits on your palate even an hour after I have finished the bottle. Leaves me wanting more.

Overall, I am sad I only got 1. I am not knowledgable on galaxy hops, but if they are readily available, I pray Revolution does their best to remake this beer in 2014. It is truly a perfect spring IPA. I love it. Revolution has yet to make a disappointing ale, iyam.
