The Kout dark is a sweet and smooth dark lager.

To look at it is very dark, edged with red and sporting a light tan head. The nose is roasted malts, light coffee and chocolate.

It goes down obscenely easily, almost like a light stout. certainly one of the best dark lagers available in the Czech Republic.

On tap at the Dancing House in Prague, CZ. Served in a Kout na Sumave mug.

The Kout Tmavy looks about average for a Czech dark lager: very dark mahogany with a light tan head. However, it is a bit hazy and the aroma and flavor are not average. This beer has an interesting and complex aroma with hints of coffee and dark dried fruits (mainly raisins). The fruitiness largely disappears in the flavor, but the complexity is certainly there too. There is plenty of medium and dark malt flavor, a strong sense of dark bread, and hints of both coffee and toffee.

M - medium-full body; excellent carbonation producing a slight tongue tingle; very smooth.

O - One of the very best dark lagers produced in the Czech Republic.

A 33 cL pour at Pivovarský Klub in Prague, CZ on 11/1/14. Dark and malty. While the aroma is very muted, the flavor is much bigger. Malty, apples, and a bit sweet. Reminds me of a Belgian strong dark with a lighter body and less bready. Medium to medium light body and carbonation.
