Drank for 7 straight days in Jamaica. Perfect abv and feel for the setting. The resort also had Miller lite (which I do not drink often). I did a side by side between the two while floating on a raft in the Caribbean. The red stripe light was superior to the Miller light in terms of smell taste and feel. More hop presence and a nice bready backbone. I’ll probably never drink it outside of my occasional trips to the island. By for 7 days it did me well.

$1 single from the aforementioned gas station. Usually don't buy light lagers under any circumstance buttttt gotta try em all.

Pours a dehydrated piss yellow with a large bone white head as expected. Carbonation is heavy, lacing is pretty decent at the end of the swill.

Smells like your typical light lager though red stripe has also been far more corn forward in my opinion

Taste follows suit. Super corny with a mildy bitter lime presence for whatever reason.

Feel is light and watery as you'd expect but it swallows easy and luckily it has no skunk.

Overall I assume this was $1 because it was old and didn't sell or perhaps others from the pack had broken. Dunno but for $1 there isn't much to complain about. There are better adjunct lagers out there.

Had a few everyday for six straight days wile on my honeymoon in Jamaica. Very light yellow color when poured. Very light in the mouthfeel. Very easy to drink and with the 3.6abv it was perfect to sip on all day and I will be drinking again if I make it back to Jamaica.

Red Stripe Light brewed by Desnoes & Geddes Limited, with an ABV of 3.60% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. The smell is sweet with grains, malts, and hit of hops. Red Stripe Light has a nice light clean taste. You pick up on grains and malts. The is a nice sweetness in the taste of this brew. The mouthfeel is nice, clean and relishing. There is nothing bad about this brew. Red Stripe Light has a nice balance to it. Desnoes & Geddes Limited did a nice job with this brew. I would buy this brew again. Overall I'm giving Red Stripe Light a solid 4 out 5. Nothing to write home about, but nothing bad. This is a nice drinking brew.

I would buy this brew again ggggllllooooddddd

I picked this up as part of a mix-a-six, you know cause I am watching my figure...enjoyed chilled from a teku.

The color is medium pale golden with thick rocky white cap with fine bead that drops to a ring and leaves copious lace. The smell is sweet and light without much else save for a corn pop type cereal smell. The feel is very carbonated and dry with a light body...go figure.

The smell actually tells you a lot about this beer as it has some malt sweetness which could have adjunct or not it isn't obvious but it is sweet and the flavor is gentle with the carbonation whisking it away and leaving the mouth dry with a slight tangy yeast tinge. Overall pleasant but not memorable, pretty average yet not offensive it is a palate cleanser if there ever was one.

The downside to diabetes is not being able to drink beers I loved. Red Stripe was a favorite, and chock full of carbs. Red Stripe Light still delivers some of that Jamaican flavor, while cutting the carbs down to ten per bottle. It has a better flavor than most American light beers. If you like RS regular and can no longer drink it, give the Light a try. Now if they could come up with a low-carb Dunkel. Sigh.

23 Jan 2013 and our ship docked at Montego Bay: we hit Doctor Cave Beach for the day. The bar there had small (275ml) clear bottles of this beer available, so I had a couple to keep me cool.

The brew is very light in colour, a pale gold I suppose with no head to see (I drank them from the bottle, no glass).

Slight grainy nose, but nothing much.

The taste was leaning towards hoppy and had a semi-bitter dry finish: I found it refreshing and just what I needed at the time. This is not the srot of beer I'd normally buy, but it was sunny, hot and I was in Jamaica!

Pours a clear, straw yellow color with about one finger of fluffy white head with decent retention.

The scent is of sweet corn and buttery notes.

The taste is very light, corn and light grain is most consistent, some notes of hops.

Light body, thin and crisp, high carbonation.

Overall, not really for me but pretty average for the style.

Almost a finger of head. Clear, (yellow?) almost colorless body.
Strong metallic smell. Not appealing.
Metallic taste too. Really watery. A metallic bitter at the end. Not enjoyable.
Low carbonation. Light body, but not crisp.
Does anyone really drink this for real?

Reviewed from notes:

Clear light gold with a small white head with poor retention and no lacing. Smells like cooked veggies and grain. Blah.

Tastes like cooked veggies and grain. Lightly sweet, with no hop flavor. Watery.

Light bodied with light carbonation. More watery than anything else. Not worth the effort to even try it.

Big white head slowly settles into a pretty decent lacing above a clear straw golden colored beer.

Sour grains and light corn syrup aroma with maybe a hint of hops.

Sour taste of corn syrup and light grains with maybe a slight bitter hops hint hiding in there.

A very light dry aftertaste on this light bodied affair.

I'll pass on ever intentionally drinking this again.

Pours a clean pale yellow with a white head. In the aroma, quite lager like and a sweet buttery smell. In the taste, A small sweet note of butter, but really a lack of flavor. A small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a note of dryness and quite clean aftertaste. So no flavor or aftertaste, but a little buttery note, HOORAY, BEER!

Red Stripe Light has a very thin, white head and a clear, golden appearance with streaming bubbles and almost no lacing. The aroma is of sweet barley, paper, and a slight spiciness. Taste is of sweet biscuit, paper, a touch of hops, and water. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Red Stripe Light finishes crisp, refreshing, and dry. Overall, this is a better-than-average light beer.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Not sure why, but I felt compelled to try this tonight. It pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of lightly dirty-white foam. The nose is nearly nonexistent, with only a vague powdered-sugar-like sweetness and a mild cornmeal finding their ways to my 'strils. The taste holds notes of hard water, rocks, very light and vague vegetable matter, and a tiny touch of sweetness. Man, this stuff is more like weird-tasting water than a beer. The body is pretty damn light, with a light moderate carbonation and an unsurprisingly watery feel. Overall, a pretty sad beer. ...I got nuthin else...

Poured from a stubby 11.2oz bottle into a becker pint glass.

A: The beer is a very light gold color, with a very thin white head that fades almost instantly and leaves a very thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains pungent light malts, adjuncts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a mild light malt sweetness, followed by some adjunct breadiness. The hops presence is almost non-existent even for the style. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Not very flavorful, goes down easily since there isn’t much to the beer, likewise not filling at all, extremely mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely other beers in the style that I would choose first.

Poured a 2" bight white soap suds head. Clear very light straw yellow color. Smells mildly of sour corn. Taste is basically water with an after taste of grain and a slight acidic zing. Honestly, it's not the worst light beer I've had, but like pretty much all the rest it's not much more than water.

A: Clear pale yellow color. Head dissipated as the beer poured and settled to a broken skim. Decanted continually. Sparse, random spots of foam on the side of the glass.

S: Sweet malt and corn. Hay and wet grain.

T: Sweet, fizzy adjunct; not a lot there. Some lemony citrus in the finish that's faintly bitter.

M: Very light body. Ample carbonation. Sweet at the start then crisp on the palate. Sweetness lingers a little too long.

O: Not a lot to go on. Very drinkable in large quantities, but would prefer a lager with more heft.

First impressions are that a 12 pack of stubby 11.2 oz bottles is not a great deal; thats only about 11 12 oz bottles.

A: Pours a clear, bright yellow color. A vigorous pour produces a thin white head about 1/4 inch that quickly fades to a partial cover and thin ring.

S: Aroma? Not really much scent at all. Slight hint of some semi-sweet adjuncts, not sure if corn is an ingredient but it smells a little corny.

T: In line with the scent. I don't expect much for this style and that's pretty much what I get. A little adjuncty sweetness then it's down the hatch and gone.

M: Light in body a little watery (basically that's all this is) with decent carbonation.

O: Overall this light, low alcohol lager is probably pretty good in Jamaica, it's not too bad on a 100 degree day in Nebraska. However, this is a mediocre (at best) easily forgettable beer. And I get about one less in a 12 pack.

In the 11.2 oz stubby with the red and white painted label.

Pale straw color in the glass. Coarse splash of foam but a modest carbonation in the mouth. This does have a slight fruity bit of malt struggling to stay afloat. The hops, however, sink to a watery grave. Not bad as water goes, and seems to be a clean and beer-like taste. I don't think you'd deliberately drink this but it goes down the hatch without a whimper.

I think it would be interesting to compare this to Rolling Rock, which I had earlier tonight and struggled to find words for the ultra-light flavor.

crystal clear straw color. very thin, almost non-existent head.

smell is almost non-existent. smells very, very faintly of corn.

taste is not as bad as appearance would lead one to believe. tastes a little sweet and a little of corn.

mouthfeel is super thin and watery. very effervescent, almost to a fault.

overall. its a light lager. i dont like this kind of beer, but to be fair, i know what it is that this beer is trying to be, and it does it pretty well.

The regular Red Stripe was temporarily unavailable, so I opted for a pint of Red Stripe Light.

A - Pours a very pale yellow, finger of light fluffy head with little retention and no lacing.

S - A toned down version of their regular beer, faint sweet corn and grainy hops.

T - Again, rather mild, sweet corn flavour and grassy hops with a bit of citrus that comes through on the finish.

M - Way too watery. This one definitely needs a bit more lift.

D - I was glad when they repaired the taps because this stuff just wasn't hitting the spot. Worth a try if you like light lagers, but I would recommend the regular Red Stripe over their toned down watery version.

A- Straw yellow with foamy white head that fades fast and leaves minimal lace.

S- Faint corn, husky, musty smells, tinge of skunk, and mineral water.

T- Faint malts, watered down corn, rice, and musky taste. Earthy hint of hops, and a dose of skunk. Awful.

M- Watery, thin, effervescent, fizzy, and gross

D- Skunky makes it fail on top of thin watery crap beer taste.

Light beer, but not nearly as pale as I was expecting. Color is a dark straw hue, with true clarity and a lively look to it. Thinner head, tiny bubbles and a little limp looking. Looks are decent, for the style and considering the glass. Smell is weak, corn husks and boiled vegetables dominate the nose. Maybe the tiniest hint of pellet hops, but I doubt it. Taste is clean and watery, mostly cheap rice and barley tastes, mildly hoppy finish, but even that is metallic and thin. Has a flash of bread-y sweetness up front, but that fades awfully fast. Light and crisp on the palette, carbonation is more modest. Just a notch above too thin, respectable mouthfeel, for the style.

A session beer, both by definition and by drinkability. Light and crisp and mindless. Good drunk beer.

A: Bottle was 11.2oz small brown bottle painted on lable.
Light enough to see through and read the bottle on the other side.
One fat finger head when poured which lasted about 1 minute.

S: Almost skunk, slight hops.

T: Could use another "Light" in front of the lable.

M: Very watery.

D: Might be better on a very hot sumer day, probably even better in Jamaica.
