True to form, Luponic Distortion Revolution No. 006 is driven by a mix of seven different hop varieties, led by two hops grown in the up-and-coming region of Michigan.
Luponic Distortion Revolution No. 006 is the first-ever West Coast production beer to focus on hops grown in the Great Lakes State.
“This beer showcases what happens when you take two familiar Northwest hop varieties and grow them 2,000 miles to the east,” says Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “The typical piney, dank attributes of these hops are transformed into something much brighter, with a racy citrus quality that adds yet another new layer to the lore of Luponic Distortion.”
The result is a beer that detours from Revolution 005’s more tropical tones and into a bright, citrusy grapefruit territory.
As Matt puts it, “Luponic Distortion Revolution 006 is a perfect example of how terroir plays into hop growing, and how it ultimately shapes beer flavor and aroma.”

Palate Contaminants: other beer
Color is a very light gold with not as much head as usual for the type.
Lots of pine resin on the nose. Non-sweet pineapple and guava, which is kinda weird. Egg yolks in the background.
There's even more pine resin in the taste, plus some pine wood. There's both bitter fruit (same as the nose) and bitter leaf vegetables. There's some sweetness, but it's not moored to anything. I mean, there's definitely flavor to it, it's even a bit unique, but it's altogether not quite as good as previous iterations.
Medium weight, fairly coarse carbonation, and aftertaste matching the taste.

Can from Brewers Haven. Light golden, hazy, small tight white cap. Light aroma, grains, malts, hops. Taste is dry and bitter, light citrus. Very mellow and subdued. Initially thought it bland, but it grows on you.

From the bottom of the can: "CANNED ON 04/18/201812:52"
Appearance: It is a medium gold color with good clarity. It has a short white head with low retention and spotty lacing.
Aroma: There is a light bit of garlic aroma.
Taste: There is a touch of very light herbal hop flavor and a slightly more dominant grain flavor. A bit more of the hop flavor comes through at the end and in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Refreshing, crisp, and enjoyable to drink. Low bitterness.
Overall: The beer doesn't have a lot of character at all. There isn't much going on here. It's pleasant enough to drink but there just isn't any defined...anything in this beer. It seems odd because the beer is really well made and it is refreshing to drink but it just doesn't have enough flavor or aroma. There is nothing in this beer that anchors it.

Pours a clear, light golden, straw coloration with a medium, fizzy head. Smells is very subdued, faint aromas of floral hops, orange rind and biscuity malt. Taste is similarily unremarkable, but follows the nose with faint floral, citrus hops: orange rind, tangerine and light biscuity malt. As with other reviewers, my bottle was almost 6 months old, so take this review with a grain of salt. Hops seem really faded, not much life left in this one. Rated it slightly higher than I normally would to make up for it. Still drinks pleasantly enough, but hops have obviously faded.

Another rotation. This pours a good looking golden tan. I get a bit of an earthy, herbal note as I sniff this. There's a light piney touch to the taste and some citrus, with just a hint of some interesting resiny notes on the back end.

A: This poured a clear light gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like apples and oranges, with some candied apricots and honey dew melon.
T: It tasted like honey dew melon and tangerines, with some mild citrus zest. It had a clean and light bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Nice full body.
D: This was a mild but crisp and well balanced IPA with enjoyable tropical scent and taste. The body was solid and the finish was super smooth, so it was really easy to drink. I prefer a bolder IPA, but this was still a really nice drink that's refreshing on a hot summer day.

12 oz. Bottle
Bottled On: 06/12/17
Way too many months on this bottle.
Poured into a Tree House glass a clean/clear golden yellow color, nice carbonation, with a nice small creamy off-white head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, citrusy. The taste is hoppy, malty, citrusy. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely. Overall, unacceptable to have beer this old in a store for sale.
