Notes:
Prodigiously hopped yet nimbly brewed with pilsner malts, Adversus ultimately achieves the improbable: a big, bold IPA made for summertime sipping. A hard-charging blend of Pacific Northwest hops leads the way, loading the nose with notes of stone fruit, pineapple, mango and earthy pine resin. Meanwhile, the use of traditional pilsner malts adds levity and dryness to the palate, allowing for a refreshing texture through the finish. The result is a double IPA that is high on hop aromas, balanced in bitterness and perfect for the long, warm days of summer.

On tap at Blu Wolf Bistro in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a mostly clear light orange, with a small head, and symmetric sheets of lacing down the glass.
This smells awesome- pine needles covered in peach purée, mainly. There's some floral notes too, and lots of grapefruit.
This series has been absolutely wonderful. This is crisp and dry, with a killer juicy peach and grapefruit thing, and a huge floral and piney bitterness. I can't exactly tell what hops went into this but I like them, clearly.
This is crisp and clean- it finishes so dry, with little sweetness.
This is a new classic West Coast style IPA for me. FW is so cash, man.

Very mildly chill hazed golden colored ale with a medium sized white head.
Hyper-aromatic ale. Hop hits you in the not the moment you open it. Strong tropical fruit scent with a bitter scent of orange pith. Strong pineapple and passion fruit with some grapefruit rind to it. Smells sweet like pineapple juice.
Starts out neutral sweet and savory in the mouth with a grapefruit after taste. Slight taste of lemon and big pineapple and passion fruit taste. Little bit woody with a cedar taste like biting down on a pencil. Mild sweetness but this really is an all hop beer.
Mouthfeel is OK.
Overall a tasty DIPA.

Poured from 16oz can into Snifter. Canned on June 27th 2017.
L: Very slight haze of a bronze color, two finger head has pretty good retention.
S: Quite a superb aroma here, lots of fruity hops layered in with some dank pine and also some slight herbal and floral notes.
T: Again a lot of fruity hops with almost a honey malt backbone, the pine is delicate and subtle, while the floral and herbal hop notes provide some good complexity. Really nice.
F: Medium body, crisp carbonation with a lingering sweetness from that honey note.
O: Wow FW really killed it with this one.

Pours a clear golden color with a tight, white head that leaves little bits of lacing.
Smells of tropical and citrus fruits.
Tastes of the fruity hops layered over a nice malt backbone. Hops lead off with notes of mango, pineapple, melon, grapefruit, and pine. This gives way to some syrupy malts with plenty of sweetness. A bit of earthy and spicy hops comes towards the end. Finishes with a bit more fruity hops.
Mouthfeel is medium-full with a smooth amount of carbonation.
Overall, this is a nicely done DIPA.

Palate Contaminants: other beer
Appearance is a translucent light-medium gold. Plenty of fine white head. Lots of good lacing
Smell is sugary guava, pineapple, and a little red grapefruit. The various fruit scents are dominant, which is plenty pleasant.
First taste I get is banana. It's legit, too, with a bit of sweetness like one gets with those desiccated bananas in trail mix. Bitterness is present, but fairly light; everything is about the fruit. Almost everything, because I get a little moss. (The rest of the fruit in the smell fade to the background.) The taste might not be as complex as the nose suggests, but it still has some savoriness.
A swish brings out a slight bit of prickliness, but overall the carbonation is well blended. The aftertaste has the most bitterness of any phase, but it's not overbearing at all.

16oz, canned on 06/27/17
Frothy ivory head sticks to the glass as it slowly fades atop a hazed tangerine colored ale. Earthy pine and citric nose with some caramel malt. Sweet and hoppy flavors with notes of light caramel malt, mango, pineapple, orange zest, and earthy pine. Fuller body, ample carbonation, finishes bitter but the malt backbone renders a nice sweetness. Overall, very solid DIPA. I miss Double Jack, but I like the idea of the one-off DIPAs that the brewery has been doing this year. I look forward to trying more.

Can dated 06/09/17 into a nonic pint.
L: Slightly hazy golden, visible suspended solids, 1.5 fingers of medium density white head, with minimal retention and left ringed lacing.
S: Very grassy with earthy and citrus undertones, not overly potent.
T: Follows nose but with greater citrus influence. Finishes with mild astringency and some bitterness, both clear palate quickly.
F: Lighter bodied, medium carbonation, slick feeling on the tongue.
O: A very nice and crisp West Coast DIPA, but I preferred Fortem for my palate (caveat though I did get Fortem far fresher).

Hazy, straw colored, with a creamy, tan head. Solid retention and lacing. Aroma is lemon and fruit, some mango, melon, and peach. Herbal notes. Flavor is resinous, grapefruit & pine. A bit watery in the finish, with a trace of alcohol vapor. I'm a fan of the Fortem more of the two Leo vs Ursus IPAs. Still a decent beer. FW always makes good beer!

Appearance - Pours hazy and golden orange in color with an eggshell white, rocky two-finger width head. Decent retention results in a thin, broken layer of suds and a razor thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Orange and other juicy citrus character with some mild floral notes, pineapple and lesser mango. Faint bready sweetness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Citrusy orange with mild grapefruit and a hint of lemon zest. Moderate floral qualities. Fair pineapple zing to go along with some mild mango juiciness. Slight hint of bread and caramel malts. Finish is citrusy with some pith bitterness and a slight hint of malt sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Slick texture with a slightly crisp and dry finish.
Overall - A mighty fine brew, but not much different from the previous entry in the series, Fortem. I hope this series doesn't evolve as the Luponic Distortion series has as brews that, while good, disappoint with the lack of change between each new offering.
