We created our first Firestone Lager in 2000, and it proved to be well ahead of its time. Now it's back, new and improved, for those who finally want a better lager.
In a craft world dominated by hoppy beers, we have gone back to basics with Firestone Lager. this is our hardest beer to make--and our easiest one to drink. Made in the classic all-malt Munich Helles style, Firestone Lager demands technical perfection from our brewing team, with a transparent canvas that would otherwise reveal the smallest flaw. Gambrinus pilsner malt establishes a crisp, dry base with a soft mouthfeel, while noble German hops provide just a whisper of bitterness. The result is an impossibly smooth and immensely drinkable beer that aims to help redefine American Lager.
In the words of Brewmaster Matt Brynildson, "Firestone Lager is made for drinking, not thinking. It's all about enjoying a good, clean beer."

Hazy golden body with thin white head that fades. Aroma of fresh grains, light lemon skins, apple skins, and some floral. Tastes of fresh grains, apple skins, light grass, a little malt sweetness, and some clean bitterness. Light bodied with light carbonation.

Taster at Bittercreek. Normal enough pour, golden with a small foamy white head. Crisp, grainy aroma, pale malts. Taste is more pure pale malt goodness, not an adjunct in sight. Trying hard to find a knock against this, but can't. Pure and simple.

No matter how submersed into the craft culture that we become, sometimes we just want a beer to taste like beer, -a traditional, familiar, crisp, light and grainy sweet beer. Its the type of beer that takes us back to the days when we would sneak a sip before handing it to Dad, those first parties with the pony keg, or a taste that you can just turn off your brain and just drink. Yea, Firestone Walker gets it.
Their Firestone Lager is a German-styled light lager that pours bubbly, fizzy and light chrome. Inviting to the eye, the creamy white foam hosts a grain sweetness and simple floral and spicy hop bouquet. Gentle and sweet, the grain profile is partly of malt and light with cereal in a short and fresh kilned display.
As the crisp and refreshing lager washes the middle palate, the sweetness gives way to hop spice, light apple and pale sulfur spiciness. Herbal with lemongrass, hints of mint and fresh grass clippings, the beer closes with a dry and hoppy bite.
Light, crisp and highly drinkable, the beer threatens to become watery but dryness kicks in first for a light and evaporative cooling effect on the finish for a close to a very refreshing, simple and predictable session.

DATE: February 18, 2022... OCCASION: a three-day weekend with a light schedule--allows for some beer time like now... GLASSWARE: nondescript pilsner... pours a light golden body erupting with bubbles that build a worthy, finger-thick white cloud of a head... its lacing clumps in patches, like impacted snowballs... thick, doughy bread with a slightly spicy aroma initiates the experience, but a good batch of berry, flower patch, and metallic hose come to mind... grassy and sweet, aromatic, wistful and promising... smooth, with a pronounced pitch towards the teeth that makes it more lively than the average "premium" lager... it brings some bitterness late as well, but lives down to its 4.5% ABV... cleansing, with a slight lingering beefiness late... this checks off a lot of boxes, and definitely was a nice compliment to our Super Bowl party...

Bottle poured into a Firestone Walker Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours straw yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little thin lacing.
S: Bready, floral, light grassy notes, a touch of citrus, and a little honey sweetness.
T: Floral, a touch of lemony citrus, grassy faintly herbal notes, light doughy bready malt, and a little honey sweetness.
M: Lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Not a style I get super excited about, but this one is well brewed. Very clean and drinkable. Would make a solid picnic crusher.

Clear, bright golden color, slim white head, soon gone.
In the nose: Clean, lightly malty, airy....not getting much else.
In the mouth: Light bodied. Lean malt mouthfeel. Slightly cracker-y, biscuit-y, clean and lean. Super drinkable. Yep. It's a lager, and you can drink it.

Draft. Straw with soft head. Nice woody, grassy noble hops with a little, bready honey malt in the background. Hops show through in the flavor too, and it has a decent, and long lingering bitterness for the style. Hint of acetaldehyde.

Pours a pale light straw yellow. Slight bread yeast and malt in the nose. It has a crisp, fizzy, sweet, light bodied, clean taste. Finishes fast with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It has a touch of Belgian ale attitude at the top of the mouth, some caramel and a little bit grassy. A pleasant average beer for it's style that drinks easy but it seems to need a bit more work and is a little pricey.

I have had this beer from tap and can. It's very strange but I actually prefer the can a little bit more. It seems to be a beer that would be best enjoyed iced out in a cooler rather than pulled from a cold room. The taste is subtle. It truly IS a lager beer. It doesn't pretend that it's something else. Sometimes that's just what you're looking for. Its a no frills lager in the best way possible. Cold, Crisp, Refreshing, Repeat. Good white cap. I was pretty surprised when I saw how it performed out of the can. It held pretty well too. More malt on the front end. Very subtly sweet. The body is thin but this does work well considering its flavor profile. If I were poured this not knowing what it was. It would be a typical macro brew energy I'd get from it. There are people who are saying that it reminded them of a freshly poured PBR. I would agree strongly. No complaints here. If you know what to expect from a standard lager, this should satisfy.

This is like the definition of "lager". Had on tap on a restaurant patio, and this just tasted like "beer." And yet it was immensely satisfying. It honestly reminded me of what really extremely fresh PBR tastes like.

Canned 1/30/20
Pours a med frothy head with med-lower retention, crystal clear but slight chill hazed straw color
Nose brings grainy-sweet pilsner malt up front, with some corn notes, some straw almost husky character with more toasted corn notes, hint of floral hops
Taste brings more of the malt up front, grainy-sweet pilsner malt with more corn and straw notes, a bit watery though on the malt profile, light floral hops with a little bitterness, soft lager and clean, with a mild crispness on the finish, very dry as well
Mouth is thinner and light, a bit watery, med foamy carb
Overall way too light on the malt bill and even on the hops, I think this was designed for the macro crowd, lacking much for flavor or body, it's good on a hot summer day but otherwise not really something I'd get again
