Very Good
EX-1 PaleEX-1 Pale
Notes: Last summer, six lucky winners helped us conceive EX-1 at our Propagator pilot brewhouse as part of the Firestone Walker Expedition—an epic three-day brewing road trip along the California coast. This is an aggressively hopped new-age pale ale with pungent citrus and tropical fruit notes.

Last remaining can of this beer in the mixed 12 pack.
A-Canned 3/19/18-poured into a pint glass this beer has a finger of white head that breaks down quickly leaving some lacing. Clear and golden.
S-An interesting hop profile here. Tropical and citrus. Mango.
T-Lots of hop flavors. Sweet mango. Earthy. Bready malt.
M-Soft bodied pale. Light but lively carbonation. Crushable.
O-A very unique and tasty pale ale. If FW makes a bad beer, I haven't had it.

Canned 4/23/18

Nice APA. Some lighter tropical fruit flavors...some fresh floral notes....cracker light malt backing. Easy drinking...light body for the style. It's solid enough but i would not put it in the top tier for this style.

Picked up a single from Kings Beer & Wine 5-25-18 for $1.89. Canned on 4-23-18, cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured a pale gold with a nice white head that has some good hang time.

Nose has hints of grapefruit and mango.

Taste is nicely balanced between the grapefruit and mango and the light malt base. Finish is juicy and not bitter.

Mouthfeel is light and very refreshing!

Overall a really nice session ale, very flavorful.

12 oz can, canned 4/23/18. Pours clear light gold with a small creamy white head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet lemony hops.

The flavor is some sweet fruity malt with pretty big resiny hops with a little green onion, The mouthfeel is is pretty thin and watery.

Overall, an OK hoppy pale.

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, cream-colored head of foam. It smelled of orange, toffee and light pine notes. Lots of tropical fruit flavors with mild bitterness.

Pours a clear golden color with a fresh white head. Smell is grain and hops . Taste sweet tropical and citrus hops with very little bitterness. Nicely carbonated with a crispness in hops . nice drinking APA here.

Appearance: Cloudy golden with a nice white head and wisp of lace.

Aroma: Crisp citrus fruit, stone fruit, pineapple, yum!

Taste: More fruity hops, actually pretty juicy and pretty well an IPA by some standards. Quite enjoyable.

Canned 05/15/18

Appearance - Pours semi-clear and golden orange in color with an off-white, finger width head. Decent retention before peeling back to a thin, broken layer of suds, thickening up into a ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell - Fair dank stands out, along with citrus and fair pineapple aromas.

Taste - Follows the nose. Fair earthy dank, lesser citrus and just a touch of pineapple acidity. Light bready malt character. Finish is mostly earthy.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a crisp, slightly dry finish.

Overall - Good pale, easy drinker. Nothing particularly noteworthy, but it's a good summer BBQ brew.

Pours a pale amber leaning towards yellow with hints of green. It has a frothy white head that hangs around and leaves a trail of lace.

Citrus, pine, and tropical fruit backed by slight earthy notes.

It has a crisp clean hoppy punch floral, citrus, and pine pushing through with a slight tropical fruit and a faint malt biscuit backbone.

Where has this beer been hiding from promotion and why the low ratings? I've never seen it on shelves in MD but found it down in Wilmington, NC area. For a 5% beer this NEIPA styled pale ale this beer is pretty much perfect in nearly all the catagories. Fruit forward aroma punch, taste matches and is very well rounded for a low ABV brew. It seriously is that good. I'm even drinking it nearly 3 mo. old as well.

APA is my favorite style. FW one of the best brewers.
a) Unfiltered, but nearly clear light golden with firm head lace and last.
s) Bright hoppy aroma mostly tropical fruit and citrus and pine.
t) Abundant hop flavors. Sweet citrus, candied orange rind, mangf)
f) Clean, right body, easily sessioned. Great food beer.
o) Up there with Dales & Daisy Cutter.

Poured into frosted pilsner. Instant major frothy 4 fingered active. Thick cotton lacing. Smell is a refreshing crisp citris. Taste: smooth light hops with juicy citrus fruit, then some floral and herb. Body lighter side of medium. Would be an excellent session beer.
