12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 10/28/18. Had 7/28/19.

Pours a dark garnet/brown, mostly clear, with a half inch head and some spotty cling. Aromas of caramel, malt, figs, bourbon, oak, coconut, toffee, vanilla, some chocolate, plums, dates, light rum, some brown sugar, light coffee and raisins, light char, tobacco and some leather as it warms. Smells wonderful. The flavor tastes as good as it smells- bourbon, rum, plums, caramel, toffee, vanilla, prunes, brown sugar, oak, dates, figs, less coconut, light gin, some chocolate, a little tobacco and leather. Light alcohol warming, a little herbal on the finish. Smooth, a solid medium to full body, well carbonated.

A cornucopia of terrific aromas and flavors, and the barrels shine without dominating. The rum really shows well for being such a low percentage of the blend. Definitely one of the best years I’ve had.

Poured into a Firestone Walker tulip. Pours a very dark mahogany brown and a quarter finger dark khaki head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, molasses, figs and raisins, a little dark malt and bourbon bourbon. Flavor is semi-sweet dark caramel malt, bourbon, dried plums, vanilla, dates, raisins, a little rum, oak and milk chocolate vanilla and oak. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Immediately upon pouring, I knew Stickee Monkee was the dominant component. There is a very light dark malt flavor from th Parabola and hints of rum from the BA Helldorado; not getting any gin. This has become my new years eve ale for a good reason. The flavor is well integrated, made up of five excellent barleywines and stouts/brown ales. Each time I have this I can't help but think about how much fun it must be to decide on the balance of components. They really can't go wrong, and always seem to do it right. A fine, world class strong ale. Happy New Year.

Bottle: From FW XXII Anniversary Party

Appearance: Dark-brown color with some ruby highlights. The beer has a medium-sized beige head that gradually faded to a ring. Nice looking beer.

Smell: Moderate Bourbon, fairly prominent brown sugar/toffee notes, moderate vanilla and mild brandy-like notes. The barrel elements typical of past FW anniversary beers feature prominently in the nose.

Taste: A complex palate featuring Bourbon, brown sugar/toffee, mild vanilla notes, mild brandy/rum, tannic oak notes from the bal-aging, and mild roasted malts notes. The beer starts off somewhat sweet and finishes fairly dry with the mild roasted malt notes and tannic oak notes. Like FW XX and FW XXI, FW XXII features a mellow finished taste profile right out the gate. The alcohol presence is very subdued in this beer.

Mouth-feel: On the lighter side of medium bodied with a medium level of carbonation.

Overall: The Firestone Walker Anniversary beers are one of my favorite American Strong Ales. FW XXII features a complex tasty profile the result of a great blend various FW beers. I know what I like and this flat out works for my tastes.

Pours a clear deep dark mahogany brown with a thin tan cap that falls away quickly. Nice legs when swirled. Aroma is boozy and full of sweet caramel malt. Flavor is sweet, caramel and molasses. Bourbon and rum are also very forward. Feel is medium bodied. Overall a wonderful sipper.

An opaque dark brown with lighter brown around the edges. One finger of light tan head recedes quickly to a thin bubbly ring around the outside. Sweetness hits you right off the bat. Nose is sweet toffee, dark candied fruits, and brown sugar from the sticky monkee and some rum hints without the booze. I’ve never had gin but my wife says it can be sweet as well. Taste is off the chain and layered with so many flavors, I’m gonna have to put on my @superspak hat to solve this puzzle. Some heat initially from the alcohol, dark fruits again, sweetness again, some coffee sometimes on the finish. Flavors seem to change with every sip but never disappoint. Some warming as it goes down, which I like with these high ABV brews. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with light carbonation, just a little fizz. Overall this is fantastic and my first run in with the anny ale has been an enjoyable one!

Bottle on a box with a lengthy note from the brewmaster. Dark reddish brown body. A rough pour will produce a little head, blink & it’s gone. Sniff & it tells you to expect a delicious dessert, vey sweet: brown sugar, vanilla, oak, toffee & bourbon. Taste: pure sweetness, no bitter, no salty, no sour. Flavor: yes plenty of it & plenty of variety-it is a blend of 5 excellent brews. To the implied flavors add: caramel, raisin, plum, maple & gin. Medium thick viscosity, very smooth, no detectable carbonation but playoffs alcohol heat. I’m a fan of high ABB & sweetness & with the great flavors supplied I have to give this a high rating.

12 oz bottle- Pours dark ruby red to brown with a small light tan head. Aroma is strong, barleywine, fruity, figs, leather, slightly boozy but mellows as it warms. Cream like feel in my mouth, with chocolate, vanilla and just a smooth malty finish. Divine and delicious, hard to compete with FW's barrel beers.

On tap at Blue Coast, Rehoboth, DE.
Pours an opaque brown/mahogany color with a minimalist head, given the amount of booze, and some light lacing. An inviting looking brew.
Rich malt aromas of toffee, caramel, honey, bready and biscuity and sweet cereal grain. The barrel aged aromas yield woody notes of bourbon, gin, rum and vanilla.
Sweet and decadent flavors of molasses, honey, caramel, brown sugar. Boozy notes of dark fruit, plum, cherry, vanilla, bourbon, gin and rum. The rich bready and biscuity malt taste is complimented by a touch of roasted malts and chocolate liqueur.
Full bodied with a gentle carbonation. Definitely a sipper due to its boozy qualities, strong alcohol spice and dessert like sweetness. The finish is dry with a clean alcohol spice and moderate bitterness from the hops and roasted malts.
Complex and full flavored with a big alcohol warming. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

L: Dark Brown with mild lacing. Swirling the glass shows off this beer's stickiness. It doesn't have legs but it does linger for a bit as it falls back into the beer.

S: vanilla, burnt sugar, and oak. Sweetish on the nose but inviting, a promise of toffee.

T: vanilla and wood, with stone fruit coming through and definite Candi sugar. Very mild leather notes as well.

M: chewy and thick for sure with a slickness. Some mild alcohol heat and spice too. Gentle carbonation on the finish brings the full flavor to life.

O: A great anniversary blend. The gin barrel really brought something special to this blend and i wish i had bought more

Definitely a blend as I am unable to identify any of its individual components. Getting a lot of bourbon barrel and oak sneaks in the finish. I taste molasses, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, cocoa, booze, and wood.
