In the words of Brewmaster Matt Brynildson, “Mind Haze offers the best of what you expect from a hazy IPA. But we’re going about it a little differently, and that’s what gives Mind Haze its own unique signature. We’re finally ready to do a hazy IPA the Firestone way.”

Poured into a shaker pint out of can

Look: Opaque light gold with a thick white head. It’s not opaque peach juice as you can see a bit through it but I’ll still call it hazy.

Smell: Juicy. Peach juice, bruised pineapple, guava, hints of bubblegum, and just a hint of pine.

Taste: The attack is all over ripe stone fruit. Peach, guava, grapefruit, tangerine, and mango. Then this bottoms out to a thin bitterness with some honey grain notes body with a bitter grassy finish with notes of raw honey and hay. This finish gets a bit blown out by bitterness and just a light yeast fruit note with a hint of alcohol.

Feel: Medium body but really thins out. Carbonation is soft and fine. Just the lightest hints of alcohol. Medium bitterness.

Overall: A fine hazy IPA. About as good as you’ll get with a brewery with this big of a footprint. It’s missing the body and the fruit notes can be a bit muted at times. If it’s all you can get it’ll fill in the gaps.

This is one of my favorite summery IPAs! It has a very refreshing initial taste, good fruity after taste and definitely not bitter. Very drinkable on a nice warm day.
It's hazy in color and almost looks more like a hefeweizen when poured from a can into a glass.
I made a quick pouring video you can find on youtube if you search for this beer. :)

Soft haze, quickly diminishing white head. Very mild lacing.

Smells somewhat juicy. Also has a bit of a cat pee thing going on. Not overpowering or anything, but it's there.

Tastes fine. Stone fruits really come through; papaya in particular. Some peach too.

Somewhat watery on the mouthfeel. Slight bitterness. Very drinkable.

It's a crowded marketplace in this style. You'll have to do better to make me a repeat customer.

Smooth, hazy NE IPA, not very hoppy upfront at all, mild citrus/tropical lingering taste, easy-drinking IPA. Light in color, nice choice for summer/warmer climate.

This would be a great beer to introduce somebody to hazy IPAs with. Personally, I like a snappier hops profile, but still enjoyed this beer.

Similar to Hazy Little Thing IPA from Sierra Nevada but without as much body (no head). Cloudy unfiltered look. Great floral taste. Very good IPA especially if you are looking for an alternative to "Hazy Little Thing" which is one of my favorites. This does have a little metallic after taste over a malty flavor which I found a bit strange. Not the aftertaste from an IP bitterness, something else. Try it and "Hazy Little Thing" and let us all know what you think!

12 OZ can. Canned on 6/4/2019

Pours a murky, hazy, solid grapefruit colored body with a bone white head. No visible carbonation. Very little retention. A couple layers of lacing.

Lots of fruity hop notes on the nose. I'm getting a lot of citrus. Mostly lemon with a hefty scent of mosaic hops that seems to dominate . Very prominent overall scent.

Taste seems a step down from the nose. While it more or less follows the nose I was hoping for more.

Medium to light body. While appropriate for the style, a little more carbonation might have made for a better finish.

Not bad... but not great either. Very drinkable beer. The Beer Advocate score on this one leaves me scratching my head a little...
The smell was the best part of this beer but for some reason it didn't translate to the taste.

This pours a pleasant rich hazy amber/oranj with nice foam with fair retention and lacing.
The aroma has nice mild fruit notes that don't stand out like expected, but still pleasant to the nose.
As for the taste... it is very refreshing and could enjoy many before you know what happened...then the MIND goes HAZE "Y" with the fruits and hops along with everything else happening on the palate...you realize this is trouble and that your along for the ride to many. Yahoo !!
The feel and overall are smooth and mellowing to the whole "MIND HAZE" ride...very enjoyable. A must try!!

Pours a hazy darkish yellow color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention and lacing are both very good. Nice citrus aroma. Somewhat juicy. Some pine. I thought I could get a little bit of tobacco initially, but then it was gone. Less juicy taste. More watered down citrus with a decent bitterness. Some piney resin. Dry on the end. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

On tap at Bella Michael’s, Oneonta, NY. Reviewed 8/1/19.
Appearance – 4.5.
First pour – Unknown.
Body – Bright yellow, murky.
Head – Chopped by bartender leaving 12 mm of white, dense, average retention head.
Lacing – While the level is dropping, sheets of lacing remain which break into partial wide bands with thin stalactites and wide columns.
Aroma – 4 – Pleasing. A blend of pine and citrus fruit.
Flavor – 4 - Slightly bitter with some lemon. Very refreshing. No alcohol taste or aroma (6.2 % ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 4 – Another superior brew from Firestone-Walker.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Hazed light golden pour with 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Nice ring of lacing.

S: Light and tropical. Kind of lacking.

T.F: Sweet grains up front... light citrus hops and some tropical fruit. Overall pretty mild... a little melon and guava. Creamy carbonation... slick and drinkable. Medium to light bodied.

O: An easy drinking hazed IPA. Kind of forgettable for a Firestone Brew (and probably not a style their heart is really into). Nothing wrong with this... and with the low ABV it's an easy summer brew but no reason to revisit this one.

Relatively easy to drink. Nothing too special but provides the hoppiness as easy and straightforward as you’d like. Recommended as an easy drinking IPA.

When I saw the hazy pour, I anticipated a juicy IPA. When I saw the hop and dry-hop profile, I anticipated a degree of complexity. Upon drinking, I received neither payoff. Lemon notes, zesty, but essentially straightforward, unremarkable, especially when considering this premier brewer as the source.

On tap at Half Pint Pub in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a modestly hazy orange color, with a small head and lots of lacing.

This smells like pineapple, orange zest, grapefruit, pine, and grassy hops.

Firestone Walker's regular West Coast IPAs are better than this - but it's still a nice beer anyway. This has that respectable yet expected citrus and pine balancing act, with no real maltiness, and not too much bitterness. I want a bit more crispness here - Union and Double Jack accomplish that much better for me.

This is slick and light bodied, with a great drinkability.

Firestone Walker doesn't really make a bad beer. This isn't my favorite of their IPAs, but it shouldn't be kicked out of bed for eating crackers.

Look - poured from a 12 oz can. A frothy head that dissipates fair quickly, leaving behind little lacing. Sitting still, literally looks like a glass of pineapple juice. Not necessarily bad. Completely unrelated, but I love the design of the can, and I will say it influenced my choice of selecting this 6-pack among the many in the fridge...
Smell - a blast of tropical flavors, dominated by pineapple and supported by mango, passion fruit, and citrus. Quite sweet on the nose, though not uncommon with this style.
Taste - a lot less sweet than advertised in the nose, which is good. An overload of fruits, and not too bitter at all. In fact, a very gentle beer throughout the tasting process, and goes down smoothly. Does leave me hoping for a little more though.
Feel - medium bodied, leaning towards the light side. moderate carbonation, and around average ABV for this style at 6.2%.
Overall - nothing to write home about, but definitely not bad. If anything, the one thing that separates this beer from other NEIPAs is the subtlety of the beer's characteristics. Would make a nice entry-level IPA.

This wasn't really anything special. Looks like pineapple juice. Nose is grapefruit, pineapple, maybe some orange peel. Taste is sugary sweet with pineapple and grapefruit as the leaders with some mango and and lemon in the background. Medium mouthfeel. Just an average take on the style. Wouldn't pay for this again.

7/4/19 (Chicago): $6.67 12 oz six pack w/ tax purchased at Binny's Niles 7/1/19. Can canned 6/4/19 (8:34) poured into pint glass. Light hazy yellow golden pour pour, faint head clears quickly, no lacing. Faint fruity hops aroma. Light taste, slightly bitter hops balanced by fruity mix of melon and lime. Firm mouth feel, bitter, slight carbonation fizz lasts, crisp smooth drinking. Overall very good offering. Fresh pineapple aroma, slightly sweet. Light pineapple taste, backed by citrus pine. Slightly fizzy mouth feel, light. Like a balanced NEIPA, but this was balanced in a meh way. I'll stick with their West Coast IPAs, which are very good.

I dont necessarily dislike NEIPAs, I just more often than not dislike NEIPAs I try. Every now and then one I find one I enjoy, but never love. Having said that...

L - Looks less appalling than most per style. It doesnt look like pulpy orange banana pineapple juice I drank from concentrate when I was nine years old. Do a 4 on appearance per style is quite high for me here.

S - Smells like orange banana pineapple juice from concentrate that I drank when I was nine years old.

T - Watery and acidic. Extremely low on flavor other than a fruitiness combined with a metallic sensation akin to licking a penny.

F - thin, watery, fizzy. Like a very highly carbonated water bursting with bubbles of lacking any substantial viscosity.

O - what a joke. I cant believe how popular this style is. A neipa is like a chicken nugget. Easily palatable to a fussy 5 year old. I'll take the filet mignon cooked rare please instead. Oh, and waiter please get me a 16oz head hunter.

Poured a mango yellow with a three finger white fizzy head that dissipated slowly leaving heavy lacing. Light pineapple malt aroma. Taste is light malt with pineapple and grapefruit. There is a light hop bitterness on the finish. The feel is terrific for drinking in the summer. light bodied carbonated. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Very nice!
