union jack ipa pours a nice head, not too big or impressive but good none the less.the beer is a clear gold or copper color,a little to clear for me.no lacing in the glass either, this ipa is no beauty queen.

the smell is very good, hops and fruit with a little malt in their for balance, quite nice.

It taste very good,a nice smooth, balanced ipa.when you drink this the thing that comes to mind is BALANCE,a very well rounded ipa.imo balance is overrated when it comes to ipa but in this case its done very, very well.high drinkabilty, the abv is non existent.

the mouthfeel is thin and easy going down,i would almost compare this to a session ipa like founders all day in that respect but at 7.5 abv its no session ipa.

Overall my thoughts on this beer are,i love it a great ipa at any price but in my neck of the woods it cost under 10 bucks a sixer snd that undercuts others that are just as good or maybe this one may even be better.i dont know if i would call this one world class but not far from it and well worth your time.

A: new labeling put the hop as center stage in the UK's Union Jack. Well done. Solid lacing coupled with a light golden brown hay color.

S: wet straw dominates this unassuming brew. Definitely has character and a backbone.

T: definitely not an ibu that will impress the critics. This brew contains that "British Bite", meaning hops/malt is cut quickly to a smooth ride home. Grapefruit and malted biscuits dominates. Cranberry citrus scone comes through as well.

M: great carbonation. A bit oily for my liking though.

I: a diamond in the rough. The price point is outstanding in NorCal. A great brew that is so damn tasty!

Six back of 12 oz. bottles.

A- Poured into a tulip. very small head witch dissapated quickly to a half finger rim around the edge. tight lacing that help up for a while. Light golden apple juice color almost metalic chrome looking. very bright and happy.

S Fresh cut grass at first then gave way to granny smith apples and a faint alcohol notes. not a ton going on here.

T. Minimal hop that doesnt smack you in the face, some light florals and a sweetness dictates the hop character here, but it doesnt last long. a pineapple rind comes in and takes you to the malt and yeast wich is slightly creamy but really mostly bitternes. a little bitter hop finish closes it out.

M- Mouth feel is crisp and light, not much malt, some nice hop resins come through and the carbonation was spot on.

O- over all i enjoy this beer, i like an IPA that focuses less on smashing hops down your throad and more on the general complexity. the bitterness on this tends to get better as you drink the beer. bitterness is an aquired taste and i have been appreciating it more as of late as my tasting evolves. i am starting to understand it more. Also this beer was extremely fresh tasting had a bottle date of 1/6/14 and here we are 2/7/14 nice job Firestone.

Fairly dry and citric nose on this one. Good grapefruit presence....a bit tropical perhaps. But certainly hoppy and dry.

There's an immediate good dose of grapefruit and definite pineapple hop bitterness here starting out....followed by quite the formidable caramel malt base. One of the sweeter IPA's I've ever had, but that doesn't mean that it compromises the bitterness. It certainly has both. Finishes quite dry and bitter, although not in a lingering way.

A great English IPA, no question. Many of the style seem to sacrifice the bitterness but this is full flavored all the way on both fronts. Bitter, sweet, then dry.
