Sucaba - Firestone Walker
English Barleywine
12.5% ABV

APPEARANCE: Pours a mud puddle brown with a deep ruby red rim variation. Zero head on my pour, second pour was a hard pour that produced a very small halo of off white bubbles with small spotted lacing.

AROMA: In your face Bourbon barrel. Huge amounts of chocolate covered cherries, vanilla, caramel. Very reminiscent of a Port wine.

TASTE: Like I just had a fig newton while sipping on a jammy glass of red wine. Lots of dark fruits, that sweetness in the nose comes through on the taste as well. A lot of the barrel comes through and gives a nice oakiness. Very flamboyant beer with an immense amount of layers.

MOUTHFEEL: Very smooth and delicate. Medium body with a light prickly carbonation that gives a nice bubble dance on the tongue. Nice lingering sweet finish.

OVERALL: An amazing sweet English Barleywine that highlights the barrel exceptionally well. The nose on this beer was the highlight for me even as it warmed it revealed more and more. Definitely a sipping beer, went well with the movie I was watching "Gravity" yup just did a beer movie pairing suggestion!
