Excited to finally get to try! The packaging for this one states, "Beautiful chocolate, espresso and vanilla-bourbon aromas hold your nose hostage." It is not just market speak in this case, it is a perfect description. The aromas are decadent in the richness and volume of flavor. The taste is even darker, invited a sense of liqueur sweet and smoothness colliding beautifully with coffee and bourbon bite. I think this one will age beautifully in a shorter term, say a year or two, but it is plenty delicious now!

This beer hisses with authority and pours a licorice black color that forms into one of the most beautiful dark brown-to-hershey-syrup colors I've ever seen. The head starts off with a frothy finger and recedes to a thin creamy ring.

Aroma is an oatmeal raisin cookie dipped in chocolate. Large, long, sticky fig notes waft up and the presence of oatmeal and chocolate is unmistakable. And just when you think you got the whole profile, the bourbon aromas come in right at the tail end of the sniff. Just fantastic.

Flavor is very, very good. Prune, light ash, chocolate syrup, oatmeal cookie, and sticky glazed figs swarm the palate. There's hints of faint sweet citrus and watermelon somewhere in there as well. A boozy, hot finish paired with smooth - crazy smooth - bourbon.

Feel wells up with carbonation and then turns slick and smooth, with a boozy, hot finish.

Overall, this beer is awesome. Definitely not as good as Stickee Monkee but I think I like it better than Sucaba. Firestone Walker has me hooked on their barrel beers.

Not pitch black but pretty dark, some light penetrates around the edges. Good lacing and not much head retention but I kinda prefer that. Aroma is fantastic to me: roasty oats, some vanilla, and deadly smooth bourbon! Flavor follows but mouthfeel is lacking a little. Awesome brew

Served on tap. 2016 vintage served Jan. 2018.
Pours nearly jet black with a finger of deep caramel colored head.
Aromas are mellow balanced levels of bourbon and deep roast.
Flavors are really nice and balanced. Ample bourbon but works very well with deep roasted malt. Chocolate and coffee notes.
Mouthfeel was really nice with the oatmeal in the mash.
Overall, great BBA oatmeal stout!

Batch no. 005 2017 release
12 oz. bottle poured into a willibecher.

Pours deep brown and stacks up near black in the glass. The two tone cream and khaki head started at two fingers and slowly laid down to a quarter inch while leaving nice lacing.

The nose is full of malty sweetness. Notes of bourbon, vanilla and coconut make for a rich inviting aroma.

Tastes of smooth bourbon, toasted coconut, vanilla and caramel. Very smooth and easy drinking with just a scant bit of warmth at the finish.

The body is medium to full with low carbonation and a rather soft feel.

Very good.
