Tried this because I've heard such great things about Firestone Walker. Was a little disappointed, but the taste was good. Here goes:

A: Just OK. I've seen much better IPA's. The beer pours a clear orange with a very, very little head. Only moderate lacing as well, which was surprising (I guess this is a density issue). I do like the fact that the beer is clear, though.

S: Very...mild, especially for a DIPA that's been dry hopped (three times no less!). I can detect lemon, grapefruit, pine and other aromas from the Pacific NW hops. However, they're rather muted relative to other IPA's. In fact, I can actually detect lightly kilned amber and caramel malts, which is rare especially for WC IPA's.

T: Actually, quite good. Initial taste is a good interplay between malt and hops (given that the malt content is quite high, it's not surprising that I taste lots of sweet malt even though this is an IPA) giving way to a very, very hoppy aftertaste. I taste lots of sweet caramel malt with a faint hint of honey and lots of grapfruit, lemon and orange peel in the aftertaste. Overall, though, I was somewhat disappointed. From the reviews I was expecting sex in a bottle.

M: Nice. Actually quite full-bodied for an IPA. The carbonation was somewhat lacking, though, which is disappointing.

O: A good beer but somewhat overrated. Not worth the price, IMO.
