Bottle dated 02/11/14 08:45 (how specific!)

A: Pours a clear ruby red. Tall, frothy and fizzy tan head. Good head retention but with basically zero lacing.

S: Lightly grassy, a little bit of biscuity malt.

T: Yup, grassy. Nice toasted bread malt. Slight wave of bitterness in the finish with a little grass and some herbal hops too maybe? Lightly drying in the finish too.

M: Medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry.

O: Pretty standard ESB. Crisp, smooth, drinkable. Lightly, lightly hopped but enough to give it some flavor. A nice session beer.

Color- rosy light walnut. Medium head.

Aroma- lager-like sharpness with hint of corn syrup.

Taste- Starts with a mild yet rich malt balanced by gentle earthy grain notes and subtle cane sugar sweetness finishing with a lingering but subdued hint of hops and grain.

Poured from 650 ml bomber into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted March 2013.

Bright gold colored, with a low but dense head atop it. Delightful aroma: good toasty malt mixed with floral hops--very British strong-pale-ale. The taste gives a nice bitterness upfront, giving way to solid malt and flowery, grassy hop taste. A little bit of yeasty fruitiness sneaks in as well. The body is substantial though not really very heavy--a beer than be quaffed in certain circumstances, but not one after the other. One of the best Firestones I've had. They've got the English ESB style down pat in this beer.
