When poured into a pint glass, the color was an hazy golden yellow with an orange hue. The smell of yeast and mild hops were evident in the aroma. The taste had a pleasant flavor of fruits and spice. Although, even with the pleasant flavor, it was just a little on the weak side, of flavor. But, overal it would be a great summer sipper!

S- Smells like banana whitefruit honey, slight caramel smelll and with a tinge of honey. And white malts.
M- Light yet silky. Deifnitely light for an ale.
O- A great summer beer. A Bavarian style hef. Flavorfull without the fillingness.

12oz brown stubby bottle, capped. Label states that this is a Limited Release. Pours our a pale-golden yellow with tons of tiny bubbles. Very small head that doesn't last at all.

Smell is wheat, lemon notes and also some clove and banana. Almost leaning towards the smell of a Belgian beer. Taste is sweeter than I expected but in a good way. Malty banana start this beer out and it ends with a nice spicy bitterness. Nice little yeast bite that adds some complexity.

I am drinking this in the mid to upper 40's and it really brings out some great flavors. Still clean and easy drinking but tons of layers of flavors. Very easy drinking beer that I would love to have one tap.

Pours with a hazy dark gold color with generous white head at first that dissipates to not much soon thereafter. Nose is very faint with some lemon/orange. Palate has light malt & wheaty flavors with a hint of citrus. Light bodied and light on the finish. Easy drinking.

Not what I expect from FWB but I guess they need a patio wheat beer to compete in that growing and lucrative market. That being said this is pretty good for the style though it verges on the Wit side with some cloves and banana notes in the nose and finish. Very drinkable though a little thin this is patio fodder and worth picking up for that reason.

Appearance: clear golden color

Smell: like a lager

Mouthfeel: mild carbonation

Overall: I thought I'd try something different. Firestone markets it as a limited edition. It should remain that way. To be fair, I usually go for stouts, mostly porters.

Appearance: hazy orange yellow with a short wispy head.

Smell: yeast and some citrus tones come through to the nose.

Taste: mild malt profile with some grassiness, a bit of pepper, lemon zest, and an overall earthy quality. Bitterness is mild.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Very crisp throughout and mildly refreshing.

Overall: an easy to consume beer. This one is not overly exciting either, but drinkable.

Picked up a bottle from Fry's Foods on 10/2/12 for $7.99. Bottled on 7/12/12.

Beer comes out in a perfect pour, nice 2 finger white head, with little lacing left behind.

Nose is typical for a wheat, not much there. Some hints of lemongrass.

Taste has hints of lemongrass with a nice even hop balance that makes for easy drinking.

Mouthfeel is light to medium , refreshing.

Overall this is a nice wheat beer that is very refreshing.

I'm surprise there aren't more reviews of this beer, as it seems to be all around town in Portland right now. Had a glass last night at Belmont station.

The beer pours a peachy gold color with OK head retention and some light lacing. The nose is pretty standard for a saison I think, with honey, clove and a touch of underlying spice. Flavors replicate the nose in this moderately sweet beer, with just enough hoppy bitterness in the finish to keep it in check. I get a bit of orange citrus on the mid palate as well, which think is nice. Mouthfeel is fairly light, though this beer has plenty of flavor and is fairly smooth on the palate. Drinkability is quite good, and the flavors are interestig enough to make drinking this beer enjoyable.

Nothing really speacial going on here, but I otherwise thoght this a nice enough beer.

A- Pours hazy golden yellow with a tint of orange, thin white head, very little lacing

S- banana, cloves, wheat, spice. Light citrus note

T-mostly a light wheat with banana note, light spice with clean finish kind of dry

M-light and refreshing. Good carb.

O- not a huge fan of wheat beers, but always good alternative on a hot day. Better of the style in my opioin. I could probably sit down and drink a 6 pack to myself. Light and resfreshing. Wish it came in cans so I can take it to the pool! Lol

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy yellow gold with a medium white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is hefeweizen like - banana and clove with some light citrus, pepper and wheat.

The flavor is a bit subdued and watery with some yeasty banana and wheat with some sweet fruity malt. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and watery.

Overall, I was not too impressed especially at $10 for a 6 pack. It's watery with too much banana for me. It does get a bit better as it warms.

i thought this was a very nice fruity summer wheat beer, maybe my favorite of the season thus far. pours a hazy golden to brassy orange color, with an average white head. smells like hefe yeast, banana notes, some spice. flavor is equally yeast dominated with a major fresh banana palate. also some good wheat malts in there that give it a light but flavorful body, and some late hop additions that crisp it right up in the finish and make it feel lighter than it is. feel is excellent for a summer beer, enough body there to maintain interest, but also very drinkable. a good outdoors beer. bright carbonation and quick finish make it a nice refresher without being too fruity or citric. overall a well balanced summer beer, and a major departure from the woody hop bombs firestone walker usually produces.

"Women give us solace, but if it were not for women we should never need solace."

--Don Herold

Lightly hazy lemony orange topped by a thick slice of firm foam that is dark enough to be considered ecru rather than ivory. The suds melt slowly, leaving a sparse collection of lace on the sides of the glass. Love the unfiltered look, though.

The aroma has character to burn. This is definitely more than a garden variety American pale wheat ale. The nose has hints (more than hints as it warms) of citrus and spice, not unlike a good German hefeweizen.

Firestone Walker Brewing calls Solace a 'Summertime Fusion Wheat Beer'. That isn't a style (obviously), but it describes this seasonal offering very well. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that a hefeweizen yeast strain was used. No other way to get that distinctive clove-like flavor.

There isn't much banana, but a tart 'n tangy lemon peel fruitiness is present. Probably the combination of acidulated malt, hops and yeast. Most big beer lovers will find the flavor to be on the subtle side, but it's pleasing my palate mightily this morning. If the ABV was a little lower, this would be an ideal summertime session ale.

The malts taste mostly pale, with a slight toastiness in the background. Willamette and Strissel Spalt hops provide a fair amount of flavor and just enough bitterness (15 IBUs) to keep things in relative balance. Even more hoppiness would have been great... as always.

The mouthfeel could stand to be a little bit bigger and more expansively creamy. That said, it keeps the 'pleasurable' and 'easy drinking' trains rolling right along.

Firestone Walker deserves credit for not brewing yet another bland American pale wheat ale that would bore the palate of most craft beer lover to tears. Solace is an outstanding summertime quaffer. I find some solace in the fact that it's available on-line. Too bad shipping is ridiculously expensive.

A new arrival at the local best beer store. When I bought this I expected it to be some sort of wheat beer. I was pleasantly pleased to see it is actually a Saison.

The bottle says "Craftily Unfiltered Ale" and it shows this. Cloudy burnt orange colored ale with a small white head.

The scent at first is peaches and vanilla, the vanilla comes from the Burton Union oak brewing system they use. There is a slight citrus scent here mostly lemon. There might be some coriander in this but I can't for sure id it in this one. Lastly there is some banana and cloves to this so it is sort of a wheat beer.6

Starts out sour and since I haven't been eating candy this must be from how dry the beer is. There is some sweetness here but it takes quite a while to show.

Mouthfeel is good.

Drinkability is OK. This is a sort of weird beer that doesn't really have a style. I would have preferred a saison and a wheat beer as separate beers.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Yellow straw color with a hint of orange. Very hazy although a differnt hazy from other Wheat's I've had. One finger head the instantly disappears and leaves no lacing.

S: Banana, cloves, coriander, lemon. Light graininess. Typical wheat beer. A tad muted.

T: Banana is the dominate flavor. Cloves are next. Coriander spiciness comes through in the finish.

M: Medium bodied. Could definitely be creamier. Tad high in carbonation. Still refreshing as a wheat beer should be.

O: Disappointing, only because this is Firestone. I'm getting to a point where if their beer doesn't blow me away then I'm disappointed. Still a good beer.
