Like all the FW anniversary ales I’ve had before this bottle, this was complex and delicious in so many ways it’s almost hard to describe. The flavors I tasted were bourbon, caramel, dark chocolate, toffee, sweet malt, oaky notes, charred wood, bakers chocolate, cocoa powder, spices like rye, whiskey, some piney accents and grassy hops in the finish. No ABV heat and mild touches of tequila after some sips made drinking this a pleasure.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- Dark brown, almost black, with a two finger tan head.

S- Chocolate, figs, dark fruits, hints of coconut, barrels are interesting in this, bourbon is this most present but the brandy and tequila bring some great notes, oak, slightly earthy, some roasted malts, hints of leather.

T- Chocolate, leather, figs, oak, barrels again are interesting with bourbon being the heaviest but brandy and tequila are slightly noticeable, some caramel, slightly earthy.

M- Smooth, medium to full body.

O- One of the more interesting barrel profiles from these anniversary blends. Great balance and easy to drink.

12/31/21 (11:17pm)

Bottle (from Box) to Snifter.

Looks like a cola with a creamy head. Just OK retention.

This is one of the better anniversary blends I've had. (of course with 51% of 2 of my favorite beers).

Maybe it needs to warm a bit more, but the aroma is not so string.

Just a touch of odd sweetness that I am guessing from the Tequila Barrel Merkin.

Other taste notes: raisin, cocoa powder, blackberry, black cherry, leather, cola,

Very smooth. I wonder if the wheat wine is contributing much to that quality.

Firestone Walker 25th Anniversary Ale American Strong Ale, 11.5% ABV. Pours black and moderately thick, with a one-finger beige head. This is a cuvee of five of their BA beers; two stouts, a quad, a barleywine, and a wheatwine. Nose is moleasses, dark fruit and bourbon/tequila. Taste is a bit more complex; roast malt, dark fruit, chocolate, moleasses, toffee, moderately sweet, slightly bitter. Evolving as it warms. Mouthfeel is light carbonation, a slightly dry finish, leaves the lips slightly stickee. Overall outstanding.

In a dark bar so deep murky brown light tan head no real lace. Aroma is damn malty goodness loads of sugars old ale, stout, Barley Wine barrel notes brandy, bourbon really whiskey but I went with bourbon before I knew. Tastes is big mixtures of all the goodness. Love big beers get the stout /Barley Wine and the old ale with I generally associate with added free sugars floating around. Mouthfeel is not as big as you would think for a big brew but nice smooth carbonation. Overall wonderful could do a keg of this no problem if I could afford it mmmmm

Pours an effervescent chestnut with one finger of tan head. Traces of head retention & better lacing

S: Dark fruit, vanilla, a touch of barrel

T: Toffee notes, figs, dark cherries, dark chocolate, a little leafy hop & barrel rawness/dryness up front. Some molasses notes mix in with figs, dark cherry, raisin & brown sugar as this warms, along with leafy hops & dryness, a little dark chocolate as well. Finishes with a little barrel twang, dryness, figs, dark cherries & brown sugar

MF: Chewy, low carbonation, warming

This is drinking great despite record breaking high temperatures here today, I am rarely less than blown away by these anniversary offerings & this is no exception. Great blend of flavors

Extra fizzy head and someone mute aroma. Meh.

Taste absolutely shines. I taste Russian imperial stout, slight barleywine, and big Belgian quad influence. Very intricate here with very separate flavors. The aroms smelled like a mediocre imperial stout so was not expecting all of this.

I struggle to call it "complex" because it tastes so unmelded. Overall I wish there was less sweet Belgian quad in this, the more it warms the more I feel it overpowers.

Feel is solid. 4.25

Overall I go back and forth on whether this is okay or very good on each sip. Something about it feels/tastes so contrived that I want to love it, but feel like it's rushed.

Pours dark brown with a film of tan head.

The nose is caramel and raisin with some sharp boozy aromas.

The taste is caramel, raisin, and cherry with hints of savory depth and warming spirit character.

The mouthfeel is medium for the style.

Overall, very good. To my recollection, I slightly preferred 23 and 24.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours very black - more than previous years. Very little tan head that quickly exits. Nose is big on toffee and dark fruits. Chocolate, bourbon, and tequila also make their way to the front. The taste is incredible. So smooth and well integrated. I definitely get bourbon and a touch of tequila, but here the dark chocolate and toffee really shine. Some black licorice, and a nice touch of port. Charred oak, rye spice, and wheat. Nicely complex. Just a joy to sip on - this is very different from any other beer that I have tried this year. Mouthfeel is medium bodied - not quite stout level. It's clearly thinned a bit by the barley wine, quad, and wheat wine. Overall, I love it. Will grab several more!

Pours a solid black/mahogany color with a fresh Khaki head , Smell has roasted malts toffee/caramel coconut and char. Taste follows nose from the barrel whiskey and tequila stand out the mix with dark fruits and roasted malts caramel and coconut. A creamy mouth feel vanilla and malt , thought this was very good.

Bottle. Khaki head. Dark brown color.

Coconut, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, toffee, caramel, cocoa, chocolate, figs. Lots of flavors. A nice blend. Complex. The bourbon and whiskey show more than any of the tequila and brandy. Well balanced. Not very thick, but that’s ok. Very smooth. Not as warming as I’d like, but close.

Edit as it warms the tequila shows in the finish

On tap at Orenco Taphouse.

Gorgeous blend of barleywine and stout. Roast, chocolate, caramel, toffee, dark honey, soft wood. The palate opens with a rich, creamy and luxurious blend of cocoa, caramel and toffee. Lovely, rich, creamy, smooth mouthfeel. The FW anniversary beers are usually lighter in body and this is no exception, and it works especially well this year.

This is definitely really good but why does it mostly leave me with something to be desired? This isn't a cheap brew and I feel like I'd be more into what this is if it was 6 bucks not 12
