To create this first-ever canned Vintage beer, we aged a selection of Parabola for one year in premium bourbon barrels, then blended it with a complement of Velvet Merlin milk stout to create a silky mouthfeel and a more approachable ABV of 9.2 percent. Finally, we infused the beer with Madagascar vanilla beans, cocoa nibs and sea salt to achieve a full Salted Caramel-style drinking experience.

poured from a 16oz can into a SP BBT21 light bulb snifter. pours dark brown like coca cola but gathers in the glass a shiny black with a finger of khaki colored foam head. roasted malts, light chocolate and oak, even lighter bourbon and vanilla in the nose. taste follows with a hint of the sea salt and quite lovely notes of chocolate. bourbon barrel is light. velvety smooth mouthfeel. moderate carbonation. this is interesting. not nearly as intense as parabola or paraboloid but definitely a little better than velvet merkin.

Well up until cracking this open now I thought I had a canned Parabola. That’s what I get for leaving my reading glasses in the truck while browsing the big local bottle shop. So apparently I have a lighter version of sorts? No wonder why the big can seemed such a good deal! Heck if it were full-on Parabola it’d almost be a steal. Remember, we get the gravity we pay for, or so it seems. Anyway it’s still good. This works for me like a coffee stout, a mighty tasty one. Caramel yes, coffee notes plenty. Vanilla is subtle. Like a sweet, nutty chocolate-coffee creamer-type of a beer. I love the feel. Carbonated well, yet creamy and medium/ almost perfectly chewy, goes down like it’s going to be sticky but never quite does that. It’s priced well for what you get. I can’t recall but maybe $7-ish for this 16 oz. can, if that? Worth the grab. Sweet but roasted-malty (aka the balance is great and it avoids the cloy club) and it goes down crazy easy, so what else is there to say?

Hmm
One of the few bourbon barrels I actually enjoyed
It wasn't sickly, sweet or overwhelming
I would really like to try this exact same beer not put in Bourbon barrels

It was pretty smooth. Smell pleasant and taste as well
Sure went down easy.
So easy I forgot to really pay attention
Would I buy again?
Definitely at least once just so that I can give a better review.

But I think I would buy it again. Regardless, not bad

Canned 8/8/23

I’ve had the OG Parabola and Parabajava so far, and I think that adding salted caramel to that is a great idea. It’s not the most common adjunct in Stouts so it’s nice to see it. Let’s crack this one open and find out what’s going on

Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

I’m definitely getting salted caramel in the nose, but something about it feels just a touch artificial. I’m picking up on aromas of salted caramel, milk chocolate, medium roast coffee, vanilla bean, brown sugar, raisin, earthy bourbon, light molasses, and smoky tobacco

It’s more of the same in taste but the slight artificial vibe is no longer. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, toasted oak, earthy bourbon, sweet caramel, raisin, vanilla bean, light marshmallow, and tobacco. The swallow brings notes of salted caramel, toasted oak, milk chocolate, earthy bourbon, charred oak, tobacco, vanilla bean, espresso, and light molasses

A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes mostly dry and nicely balanced

It’s not my favorite in the Parabola series, but it is very fun and damn good

16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that haw short retention

S- smells of chewy caramel candy, vanilla, chocolate, char, with bourbon barrel undertones that enhances the caramel & vanilla

T- sweet salty caramel and chocolate up front, followed by creamy milk sugars and vanilla. Mid-palate brings out some barrel character, adding bourbon, oak and an enhancing vanilla note. The finish gives salted caramel and chocolate with a bit of bourbon lingering

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly warming finish

Serving: 16 oz can poured into a 9 oz Libbey Embassy snifter.

Appearance: Deep, rich mahogany brown with a thick head of tan foam and ring of lace.

Smell: Aromas from the chocolate shop: cocoa nibs, caramel, vanilla, roasted coffee and chocolate ganache.

Taste: Dessert continues with vanilla, subtly salty caramel, coffee beans and dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body, silky smooth and light to moderate carbonation.

Overall: A decadent sipper full of rich and satisfying dessert notes.

De Beerrepublic.eu. en copa Teku. Con almendras. Viendo daredevil 2x08-09. Suaves notas a barrica de bourbon bastante bien integradas con notas acarameladas y avainilladas junto con un reconfortante calor alcohólico
