Poured into a mug, the appearance was a sturdy dark brown color with a finger’s worth of a light tan foamy head. Dissipated fairly easy to leave some light lingering stringy lace. The aroma had some roasted nuts, slight dark malts, some caramel/toffee qualities, light earthiness and some hay. The flavor leaned towards a dry malty sweetness. Light bitterness came in for a decent balance. The aftertaste was somewhat malty and dry with a nice woody dry sort of finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt fine. It’s dry yet somewhat smooth. Overalll, one of the drier brown ales on the market. Maybe again for me, not sure.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Firestone pint glass
From: Albertson’s in Alpine, Calif.
Price: $1.67 ($9.99 for a mix 6-pack)
Purchased: Oct. 11, 2014

Misc.: N/A

Poured a brownish, dark caramel, mahogany color with 1-to-2 fingers of tan head. Good stream of bubbles coming up from the bottom throughout the glass. Head settled nicely after originally appearing to dissipate. Minimal lacing along the sides of the glass. Minimal retention on the top all the way down. (Sight - 3.00)

Smelled light chocolate, roasty malts, toffee, caramel, light menthol, chocolate milk and faint Citra hops. Was tough at times to get anything on the nose. (Smell - 3.50)

Tasted similar to the nose. Got roasty malts, roasted nuts, caramel, toffee, chocolate, chocolate milk and slight cocoa nibs. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 3.50)

Just an OK brown ale. Nothing spectacular. (Overall - 3.50)
