Poured into a mug, the appearance was a sturdy dark brown color with a finger’s worth of a light tan foamy head. Dissipated fairly easy to leave some light lingering stringy lace. The aroma had some roasted nuts, slight dark malts, some caramel/toffee qualities, light earthiness and some hay. The flavor leaned towards a dry malty sweetness. Light bitterness came in for a decent balance. The aftertaste was somewhat malty and dry with a nice woody dry sort of finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt fine. It’s dry yet somewhat smooth. Overalll, one of the drier brown ales on the market. Maybe again for me, not sure.

On tap at a beer festival poured into a sampler glass. From notes: Pours a dark, rich brown slight ruby color with an off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. light lacing. S: earthy malt aroma, some slight nutty characteristics. T: Nutty, oily, and bitter taste with malt background. Finish is a little bit more mellow, but the flavors wears down after a while. M: Light to medium body and rather oily and smooth, with little carbonation

Served on-draught into a nonical half-pint glass at the Firestone Walker taproom in Paso Robles on its second day of operation. Reviewed from notes. Expectations were average given the brewery - which I'm not too fond of.

Paired with a steak and fries.

A: Pours a half finger head of nice thickness, nice cream, and awful retention. Colour is a cola amber.

Sm: Amber hops, cream, caramelized malts, and dark malts. A mild strength aroma. Hemp doesn't at all come through.

T: Clean dark malts, amber hops, hints of cherry fruit esters, cream, and amber malts. Hints of nut. Balanced but simple. Built strangely for a so-called brown ale. No hemp comes through, nor does any alcohol or yeast. Enjoyable, but not subtle or complex.

Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit overcarbonated. A biteen too thick. Complements the flavours in a general sense, but certainly doesn't feel tailored specifically to them. Nothing unique or special here.

Dr: Drinkable but a bit boring. The hemp doesn't come through, and feels more like a gimmick than a flavour profile choice. For a brown ale, it's quite amber-esque. I wouldn't have it again.
