Notes: This liberation begins its journey as DBA then continues through a “chrysalis” process involving 87% French and 13% American Oak barrels, and our proprietary collection of micro flora. To blend, we selected beer matured eight to 24 months in barrels, creating a synergistic beer. Immediately, toasted oak and lemon pith swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut, Earl Grey tea and spice. The finish is crisp, with mouth-watering acidity and chewy tannins. Since we age, blend and bottle these beers once a year, there will be slight variation with each release.

Batch: No. 004; Bottled: 07/25/17

A: Pours a burnt red-orange color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Lots of Brett funk up front with some lactic sour notes and barrel influence. Vanilla, dark fruit, and oak readily present along with light caramel, spice, and earthy tones

T: Starts off with a bit of the lactic tartness and Brett notes and then goes into the barrel and dark fruit notes. Oak, vanilla, cherry, and toast lead the way on that front, followed by coconut, spice, citrus, and some earthy notes. Finishes surprisingly on the cleaner side, with lingering lactic and barrel notes

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very good wild ale with great barrel influence. Hardly recognizable as DBA, but it doesn't really matter much. Nice to sip on and enjoy. Definitely worth checking out

Consumed on January 10th, 2015 from a corked and caged bottle with a bottled-on date of 07/15/15. Poured into a Barrelworks Teku because proper glassware with the brewery logo makes everything taste better, amiright?

Beer pours a nicely clear amber/deep orange until the bottom, when a little sediment makes the whole thing slightly cloudy. Oops. Fine white head disappears immediately, leaving only a trace of a thin white crown.

Aroma is sour with notes of citrus. Soft grain note of some kind in the background.

Flavor is powerfully acidic and citric right off the bat, though this settled down after a few sips. Ever so slight husky grain note before tart grapefruit finish. Tannic like a red wine but not aggressively so.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a touch of slightly creamy carbonation. Lightly dry.

Overall, it's an intensely sour beer that is a pleasure to drink if you like that sort of thing.

Can you say Consecration light? Firestone has it right here. This ale has a reddish color, a mostly sour base, and the accents of oak which works like a symphony in this ale. Many thanks to Joepeter for opening this worthy ale.

Picked this up at Julio's and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice clear honey amber with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin halo.

S - Aromas of nice oak, little vanilla, tart acidity, vinous notes, solid lacto notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice bright vinous notes, really good oak barrels and vanilla. The brett is quite pleasant.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little creamy and crisp on the finish.

O - Overall this was a rather solid wild from Firestone Walker. Held up really nicely and tastes like what America wild ales used to taste like years ago.

Batch 2. Second time having this beer. Much more raspberry forward than batch 1, IMO. Got more of the lactic character as the beer temp increased.

Definitely another winner for FW.

Wow.
Wow.
Did I say wow?
One of the best sours I've ever had. The color goes light to dark golden orange from top to bottom. Healthy consistent head, big lacing, slight sediment and healthy constant carbonation.
Smell and taste are just sour enough. Crisp, tangy, and fruity with a mild burn from the barrel aging.
Absolutely phenomenal.
