I`ve had the Double Barrel ale,the double Jack and now the Wookey Jack and this is by far the best of the three. With a nice 8.30 ABV this will get the job done.Very good Black Ale.I have liked all the Firestone ale`s I have tried.Nice color and very nice smell too it.I will be buying more of these in the future.Keep on pounding the brews,Motley Drunk.

Pours dark brown, almost black, with one finger tan head. The aroma has grapefruit, pine, some earthiness, and roasted malt. The roasted malt aroma is not very strong, but it is noticeable.

Tastes hop forward with grapefruit being the first thing I noticed. There is also pine, rye, and roasted malt. There is not a lot of sweetness in this beer, but that is no problem. The bitterness is not overwhelming, so this is a nicely balanced beer.

Medium bodied with modest carbonation. There is a grapefruit and roasted malt aftertaste. A nicely made American Black Ale. Worth trying for sure.

Pours a slick black colour, bit of colour when held up to the light. Head is beige, leaving nice little trails of lace and sunk to a thinnish crown. Looks pretty nice.

Smells mega-hoppy. Not a lot of roasty malt is immediately apparent, just Cascade hops with big citrus, pine and herbal notes. Touch of wet bark, coriander and white pepper at the back. Wouldn't mind more roasty character, but still a nice aroma.

Taste is a bit sweeter and nuttier, with malts taking the fore. Macadamia and peanutty notes with oatmeal and a touch of bitter chocolate. Hops on the finish, slightly resinous but mostly lemon and pine notes with a very slight hint of lychee. Finish is a nice confusion of roasty/hoppy bitterness. Not sure which is prevalent but they're both pretty nice.

Bit sharp upfront, bit of fizz. Body is more notable on the back and a bit dry, but yeah, not bad.

Nice IBA. Good hops and nice roasty characters as well. Could up the roast on the nose and the hops on the front palate, but plenty to like nonetheless. I'm nit-picking, really.
