8 pour into a mini nonic glass.

A: Pours a dark brownish black that lets light through about 1/4 of an inch. A small khaki head that dissolves to a film.

S: Aroma of barrel aging, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Big malt bill on this one.

T: Such a balanced barrel flavor. The mix of beers really blends together nicely. Tequila does come through and provides a touch of burn. A stoutish barley wine with a focus on barrel aging.

M: Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Touch of a burn from the barrels. Certainly a sipper but one to be enjoyed.

Overall such a great blend. Very impressive and does justice to a great brewery's anniversary.

On tap at the Owl House in Rochester, NY. Holdover from their Father's Day Firestone Walker Brunch. Served into a small tulip.

Pours a murky light brown. Decent sized head. Not much carbonation visible.

Smells like brown sugar, booze, malt, and some dark fruits.

Tastes intense, if slightly over-bearing. The booze is strong, and very present, keeping the flavors from ultimately melding together. The flavors are great- so much caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and maple syrup. The booze is too evident, though. Probably needs some time to mellow out via aging.

Low carbonation, medium, creamy mouthfeel. Really nice, one of the best parts.

A pretty damn good beer that could be vastly improved by aging. With a few years on it- this beer would be near perfect.

pours a cola brown, cloudy, dark, creamy head

rich vanilla and sweet bourbon. candied fruit and molasses

similar to nose, very smooth vanilla and oak bourbon. sweet candy and molasses with a touch of chocolate.

mild to moderate carbonation, a lot of burn on the gums and lips. the heat really reminds you this is 13% and barrel aged.

smooth, good stuff. a great evening sipper.

Served in tulip. Poured an almost muddy dark brown, no translucence, but not really black either, with just under 1/2 inch of medium brown head that had low-to-medium retention and pretty good lacing.

The aroma was fantastic, lots of deep, rich malts, a hint of stone fruit, just a touch of yeast, and a barely noticeable alcohol scent. On the tongue though, the alcohol hit hard, fast, and sharp at the front. The blend of malts and fruit took possession of the middle, with alcohol and fruit sharing the finish.

The body was nicely smooth and even, and surprisingly dry for as sweet as it was. Drinkability was good, for such a big beer, but I probably wouldn't have 2 in a row. Overall, a great beer. A must try if you see it.
