Have been in the Santa Barbara/Goleta area for 5 years now, and never made my way up to the Taproom until yesterday.

Atmosphere: Located in a tucked away corner of Buellton right off of one of the 101 exits, the outside is pretty impressive in its size. Big, tall building with the words "FIRESTONE WALKER BREWING COMPANY" on the side. The entrance takes you right next to the bar. The bar has some smaller wooden tables to your left then the bar itself, which sports a variety of label-less taps with Firestone's logo on them (except for one on each flight that says "Double Barrel Ale"). My girlfriend and I chose to eat dinner at the restaurant, so we sat down in the very large, spacious, and impressive dining room. A room with what looked like a wine cellar was behind glass, an example of the barrel aging system on a pedestal, another bar for wine in the back of the dining area, some seating on a raised portion of the dining room, and tables all around. There is also a bar-like seating arrangement around the kitchen, which is in plain view.

Service: Was helped by a very friendly waitress. She didn't check our ID's, just verbally asked if we were 21. Anyway, later in the night when I asked for the 11th Anniversary Ale, she went in the back to get me one and brought it out in a nice bag. Also said a lot had gone out the day before (11/30), so they had to limit it down to one per customer.

Selection: I didn't check what other Firestone beers may or may not have been on tap that were "unusual" (although I can say the IPA, which I've had at Woodstock's in Isla Vista, is really good). I know for certain, by the menu we were given, that they had Nectar beers, and then Reserve, Double Barrel Ale (filtered & unfiltered), Pale Ale, etc. In other words, the typical Firestone faire, minus the unfiltered Double Barrel. I had a pint of the unfiltered, and it was, indeed, better than the filtered variety, and only made me wonder why the hell they think it's necessary to filter in the first place. It wasn't far stronger than the filtered version or anything. Strange.

Food: We got a cheese plate, which was good, including grapes, yellow raisins, and figs, plus blue cheese, a cheddar with herbs, some sort of goat cheese, and a brie. My girlfriend attempted the seafood chowder but had to send it back because it had bacon, only to be told that she really only had chili (another meat item) as an option for the replacement, so she ended up having no soup but upgrading her chopped salad to a large instead. Our entrees (I had the burger) were fine. I found the burger to be huge but not very tasty, perhaps because it was cooked medium well without me being asked otherwise. I didn't see any "Double Barrel Mustard" (just Heinz), but they did have a tasty mayo-based sauce for it. The fries were just okay. My girlfriend's salad also was only fine.

Prices are fine, but the food isn't wonderful, at least so far. Still, probably worth it for the decor and the beer.

Unique place with a slew of options for how to approach their beer (patio, high-tops, bar, sit-down restaurant, and then Barrelworks in a separate room). We ate before heading to the latter for a liquid dessert of BA goodness.

Like others have said, the staff can certainly be angsty and a bit forthcoming with you. Regardless, our server was friendly, knowledgable, loved their beer, and gave us relatively quick service.

The food is expensive but man is it delicious. My wife had the 805 pizza (vegetarian) which was awesome, and the Wookee Jack Brisket sandwich was incredible.

My only complaint is that most of the seasonals were not on tap, and they had no stouts or Wookee Jack on tap either. Great stop for sure!

This spot is in the same building as Barrelworks, but this is geared towards their food and "normal" beer operations. They usually have all of the widely available FW beers on tap with an occasional one-off or special release. There is bar seating available, but most of the space is tables for eating. Service has always been pretty good, but it can get busy when there are special events.
